Commercials you actually LIKE

It’s not the kids that make that commercial so great. It’s the dad. The pure, unbridled joy he displays while shopping for school supplies is hilarious.

And I’ll second those Captial One commercials with the barbarian hordes (or whoever they’re supposed to be). Those are great.

I liked the “Magic Server Dust” IBM commercials.

I also like the Adult Swim commercial for Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, mostly because of the song.

I love the commercial for HP which illustrates how they help the US Postal Service. Particularly the giant robot made out of old washing machines.

Was it a Nike commercial that looked like a French art film with subtitles, only it had a chicken chasing a super-athletic man through the city? I remember some French-accented narration like “Oh look, the chicken has caught up with him again. There he goes. And there is the chicken.” That commercial made me laugh so hard I was crying. Is there anywhere I could maybe download this?

I’ll offer two.

First one I think I recently posted in another thread. The NAPA ad with Michael Waltrip and Ralph, Jr where Mike tries to do the “dance” moves. Then Ralph denies having any part of it. If you’ve seen it, you know which one I mean.

The second is the AFLAC ad with Yogi Berra and the duck just gets pissed by the end. I don’t think I’ll ever got tired of that one.

There’s this commercial for Virgin Mobile that I really like. I had to look it up on google. Apparently, the Wall Street Journal is making a big controversial deal out of it, but they describe it better than I could. It’s described in the beginning of the second paragraph:

Even though I’m a christian, I like the inclusivenes of it.

I like the new Bud Light commericials. Some background: Miller has these commercials with random people pulling out Bud Light for others. Then out of the blue, these (American) football referees come out on the field and ‘flag’ the giver of the beer, saying they are they are giving a substandard beer and offering to replace the substandard Bud Light with Miller Lite.

Bud has a counter commerical. Basically these referees are stopped by the police in one of them as they are taking the Bud Light they confiscated and are bringing it to their house. The police officers say there have been reports that the refs are taking people’s Bud Lights. The refs then try to make a run for it knowing the jig is up.

I couldn’t stop laughing the first time I saw it. It was ingenious, IMO!

Budweiser may have crap beer, but some great commericals.

There was this cereal commercial in which we get to witness a group of I guess Russian circus performers inside a small shack in some frozen wasteland. They are all very sad.

Then someone produces this cereal and they start to celebrate. This tall skinny guy spreads his arm and rises slowly out of his chair to do some dance of joy.

My god, I loved that commercial. I wish I could find it, but I can’t even remember what kind of cereal if was for.

First time I’ve seen it - great stuff!

The Tabasco comerical where the mosquito bites the guy eating pizza with Tabasco on it. The mosquito flies away and then explodes! Guy smiles.
Cracks me up every time.

I’ll have to third this. This specifically was what I opened this thread to post.

The cog advert from Honda, almost art

I like the California cheese commercials with the cows. In the latest one, two bored holsteins play “ring and run” with the farmer’s front doorbell. It’s hilarious.

I saw one of these the other night that just killed me. “Gabe” has all of his Spongebob watches laid out on his desk. A co-worker comes in, and Gabe explains that he’s just organized his watches - I think he had them laid out according to mood. The co-worker looks at him, then says something like “Way to waste company time.” I’m not explaining it well at all, but it cracked me up.

YES! That’s a great one!

look!ninjasyeah, that’s the one! He’s just goofing off with his watches, and then the coworker comes in, with this wonderful deadpan delivery.

My all time favorite though, is the one where the guy goes to the store, takes a box of Trix cereal off the shelf, and buys it. The sales lady says, “Aren’t Trix for kids?” The guy gives her a sheepish grin. Then he gets home, pours them into a bowl, and gets out the milk. And THEN he pulls a zipper from the top of his head, and it’s the Trix rabbit! He goes to pour the milk on…and there’s none in the carton. “Got milk?”

Hehehe…love it.

Anyone remember the Snickers commercial from the election in 2000? With the donkey and the elephant?

In the UK (and maybe furthur afield) there’s an excellent ad for a new car from Citroen, featuring their newest hatch back disco dancing as a Transformer

Thanks for this, that was far too cool for a Sunday night

I’m just wondering how long it’ll take Bandai to sue, assuming Citroen didn’t pay a fee. That transformation is practically identical to that of Jazz from the original line (which fact I know only because it was the one Transformer I ever owned - I’m not a nerd).

Another vote for the Honda cog article, presuming it’s the one I think it is where all the bits of the car set each other moving like the Mouse Trap in that old boardgame. It gets my vote simply because it was done practically - there was no CG or cut and paste involved.

I think the scenario there is that Bob, the scientist, is in a “when kids rule the world” environment, so he had to do what the kids want. Still, the “Whatever. Just crash it” response to the “It’s called desert sand mica” from Bob was great, as was Bob’s expression.

I absolutely love the one HP click and print ad where they have the blank frames and go from picture to reality. There are a couple of them but just one I love – the longer one, I believe. Anyways, here. Scroll down to either “Square” or “Picture Book”, I am not sure which one it is exactly.
