Community 5/5 - A Fistful of Paintballs

That’s actually one of the things I love of the paintball episodes. Everyone is super super serious and in character, and as soon as they get shot it’s “Whatever, I’m going home.”

Winner! Some of the other ideas wouldn’t work. I’ll get to them in a sec.

That wouldn’t work this year, because the contest was a surprise.

Well, they didn’t know about the paintball match ahead of time, so bringing extra clothes probably wasn’t an option unless they already had a change for some other reason.

But the whole concept is meant to be silly, so it probably doesn’t do to think about it too hard in anycase.

Or maybe I won’t explain, since it’s been covered. But I like the fanwank about having people wiht lists. Thanks for that. I enjoy the episodes, but this one thing bugs me. I would love to see these people completely breaking the illusion at certain moments for comedic purposes.

Oh, and for the objection about it being a surprise: I’d still expect people to have clothes on campus. They have dorms, remember?

The paintball game began as soon as it was announced, right? No one would have known to bring a change of clothes – am I still supposed to spoil that? A better idea would be to try to cover up in whatever outer garments could be found, drapes or tablecloths or whatever, and discard them as needed.

Honestly, I was amused by the previously-mentioned good sportingness. No referees? Somebody with an axe to grind (Pierce?) could ruin the game by roaming the hallways shooting everybody he came across, ignoring his own “wounds”. I’m also curious what kind of legal budget the Greendale Community College has, with all the lawsuits due to lost eyes they’ll be facing.

Also, even if the college’s insurance policy covered the massive property damage after last year’s contest, I don’t think the insurance company would be quite so ready to pay up again.

There’s absolutely no reason to be spoiler boxing readily apparent plot holes.

Grab a coat, BAM you’ve got a “bullet proof vest”. Get shot, take it off (to show everyone you got shot in your BPV) then get another.

the safest place is clearly in a car - which is where jeff napped for an hour during the first paintball episode. i’m jonesing so hard for part 2 it’s crazy. i haven’t been so hyped up for a 2 parter in a LONG time. could you imagine if it had been the season-finale cliffhanger? for me personally it would have been who shot JR raised to the power of who shot Mr. Burns.

Abed lives on campus, so all his changes of clothing are right there.

You’re not supposed to think about it. Just enjoy the ride.

Best Community for a long time, kept me interested throughout.
However I wince when I see them playing paintball without eye protection, and when someone (I forget already) got lit up with the paintball machine gun. Those things hurt on bare or lightly covered skin. In fact they draw blood sometimes, there would be blood in real life.

Also do they really make cowboy 6-shooter paintball guns?

Yeah, I was only having people spoiler it so it wouldn’t ruin anyone else’s fun. And if no one had guessed it, I’d have spoilered my answer, so other people could still guess.

But Abed almost certainly wouldn’t cheat (unless told to do so).

And I just needed something to tell myself, no matter how improbable. I don’t know why it bugged me, as usually I don’t get bothered by plot holes, but this one did. Who knows.

As ruthless as they are about their paintball, they all seem to be rather honorable about taking themselves out when they’re hit.

Hmm. I seem to be in the minority. I thought it was clever but far and away the least funny episode they have had. It bored me.

I’m in the middle. It was clever and wasn’t the best nor the worst. I will watch part 2.

The second they do, I want one.

They do make those paintball “bullets” that they were using, but I they’re more for law enforcement training and such (I know the Mythbusters have used them). I think they’re powered by actual gunpowder though, and a bit more dangerous.

If anyone can get me good wallpaper sized (1920x1080) images of the title cards (“Annie-Queen of Hearts”, etc) then I will love them forever.

If you’re a man…It will be platonic, or eh, I’ll learn. I really want Britta, Abed and Annie’s title cards in wallpaper-ready format. Jeff’s looked rough, like he was ten years older than he really is. Troy’s was great. Shirley? Eh, I’m not that invested in Shirley ;D
