Community 5/5 - A Fistful of Paintballs

i’m watching season 1 right now and fat neil is the drummer for vaughn’s band.

I admit it’s possible they’re going to get all “unreliable narrator” on us and the red card was not actually Annie’s, but I’d be disappointed if they did. I mean, amuse me, but don’t fuck around with me.

The red card is Annie’s. The point was that she was the only left who still felt sympathetic to Pierce and that his dickishness during the paint ball game had finally killed that off. Pierce had finally managed to alienate the last person in the study group that liked him.

Epic episode… I was just wondering if anyone knows what the theme song was? It sounded really familiar but I can’t put a finger on it, as I’m not a big Western fan typically.

I assume it was the Community Theme arranged a la Sergio Leone.

I think you mean Ennio Morricone.

I loved how the Dean had both the bee suit & the dalmation suit inside his closet. Was anyone else a little disappointed that they Jeff didn’t reuse his cowboy outfit from the first season (the ep where Annie has the Day of the Dead party)?

Can’t wait til next week!

Annie looked so cute - I used to be a Brita fan, but Annie has taken her place in my heart.

Oh me too. Britta seems to be getting lamer, while Annie gets more awesome.

I almost hate to do this, but there’s a fatal flaw in these episodes. With the stakes so high, why does no one…

See if you can guess what I’m thinking. (In spoilers, please, as I will)

A couple of guesses as to what you’re thinking:
Why does no one… just hole up and hide out until almost everyone else is “dead?”
Why does no one… immediately shoot anyone else still in the game on sight? (Like the Black Rider, or even their own friends)

Why does no one…?

Leave campus until the hoopla dies down, then come back and kill whoever is left.

Cuz there’s a dude with a paintball gatteling gun guarding the exit?

why doesn’t anyone bring extra changes of clothes so they can pretend they didn’t get shot?

First idea does not work unless you have some way of getting intelligence on what is happening with the other teams, otherwise you don’t know when to make your move.

Question: how popular are these characters outside the study group? It seems odd that in both paintball games the group has been divided. This time, even Abed and Troy were working seperately with Abed going solo and Troy working at Fort Hawthorne.

Also, was Troy wearing a copy of Clevon Little’s costume from Blazing Saddles?

Troy was indeed.

I asked this earlier and will try it again:

**Was the opening a tribute to the “Wild Wild West” (TV show) opening or a movie? Did “Fistful of Dollars” open the same way? **

That seems like the obvious way to cheat, and why you would need to have referees with lists of students, so they know who has already been eliminated.

The Wild Wild West intro
The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
Fistful of Dollars
For a Few Dollars More

Fistful is a closer than any of the four, but not quite. I do have a sense that I’m forgetting something that might be really close to Community’s opening.

I couldn’t figure out who it was. After I read this comment, it made me remember where I thought I heard the same voice, as “Alpha”, the head mean dog in “Up”, at least before he gets his squeaky voice box fixed.

In real life, you’d have an awful lot of people getting shot, then shooting the person who “killed” them just for spite as well.

I thought of all you pervs when Annie ran down the hall. I wonder how many individual instances of rewind-replay that had on the DVRs across the land.
