If that was the series finale, it was fucking brilliant (also f-bombs on Community… that was interesting). I have been wondering if Harmon had been going to the meta well too much, but as the season progressed it kinda went back to the Season 1 focus of how does this group of seeming TV trope characters interact with each other and grow as people and the more it did that, while doing the weird conceptual stuff at times, it really shined. The season turned out to be really good and the finale. Wow… never thought I’d cry during a Community episode and then that last dark and utterly hilarious tag.
I was pretty happy with the sixth season and the finale. The show definitely pushes the boundaries with what is too meta, but it worked well in the finale I think. The season 7 pitches all illuminated the personalities of the characters making the pitches, so it wasn’t just being meta for the sake of being meta. Most of the previous season finales would have been disappointing notes for the show to go out on, but this one worked well. It was a bit odd that Elroy got so little attention, though.
And damn, that final tag was dark.
I would be happy to have another season and/or a movie, but this would be a satisfying end. The show’s come back from death so many times that I kinda feel like I will never believe it’s truly gone.
