It’s been a hard-fought contest that has thrilled the nation, but the time has come to announce the result you’ve all been waiting for.
My final “shortlist” comprised fifteen names, and whittling this down to one has not been easy, I won’t say I’ve lost sleep over it, but I have noticed that I’ve had to drink more to calm my nerves. Anyway, here it is, no arguments now children, the winner is:

Oh no! I saw this thread yesterday, but never got back to it. For me, the obvious choice would have been Gordon Sims: the real name of “Venus Flytrap” on WKRP.
WKRP ran here (the UK) but never got the kind of cultural cachet that it did in the US.
So the many votes for Gordon and variations kind of fell upon deaf ears.
