Computer/Console Games You'd Like to See

I’ve always dreamed of creating the following games (and PLEASE tell me if they exist!):

EL MATADOR-Bullfighting game

ROLLERBALL-Based on the James Caan movie; actually a company was working on this for Playstation but went under

AFL 2002-Australian Rules Football

KNIGHT OF HONOR-Medieval jousting

ROMAN COLISEUM-Gladiator combat

YOKOZUNA-Sumo wrestling

And of course, I’d like to see “CarnEvil” made available for Playstation, and for EA Sports to sack up and FINALLY release “Thrill Kill”!!!

If you don’t mind not having graphics, check out Out of the Park 3 or Baseball Mogul 2002. Both these games have their pros and cons. Baseball Mogul had its financial system reduced to “points” (1 point = $200K) for the current version in order for the publisher to gain MLBPA licensing, which I don’t mind at all. OOTP3 is capable of starting with any season by importing statistics from the Lahman database, which can be downloaded here, but the financial system is a joke.

I would love to play:
[ul]
[li]A horseracing game that focuses on the gambling aspect. Gallop Racer 2001® focuses on training and jockeying and not gambling. Its gambling feature, according to an on-line review, just seems to be tacked on. It doesn’t offer charts of past performances (essential to good handicapping) and it only offers a handful of exotic bets (for example, it offers exacta but not quinella; it offers Daily Double but not trifecta or superfecta). Maybe some company will develop one that focuses on wagering.[/ul]::snip::**[/li][/QUOTE]
Have you seen the shareware game Digital Downs?

There were a number of games that had jousting elements, such as Defender of the Crown (and a few others that slip my mind). Nothing recent though–it’s more of a mini-game sort of idea.

Thrill Kill’s graphics engine was used to power the Wu Tang Clan fighting game, which was a heck of a lot of fun for a few weeks (got old after a while though–control was a little on the kludgy side).

Re: the first-person & strategy game: Urban Assault did this fairly well. Several years old, made by some obscure German developer and marketed by (I hate to admit it) Microsoft, it was actually pretty good. I give it extra credit for actually modeling helicopter flight basically correct right down to the reversed collective, which is amazing for an action game.

Battlezone is pretty ‘blah’. I give it good marks for the engine, the atmosphere, and the backstory, but the gameplay is total crap. BZ2 still had crap gameplay but killed the atmosphere and backstory.

For a more serious game of this nature, I could also recommend Steel Beasts, a recent wargame/tank simulation. Play it as the company (or batallion) commander, work out your orders in the planning phase, and then run the mission as a platoon leader, giving orders to others during lulls in your own battle. Works well, but if you’re looking for a Starcraft-style mindless clickfest, it’s not for you.

KKBattousai: There’s not much to say to someone who praises that piece of trash Apocalypse but rags on Terror from the Deep. Sure, TftD was pretty much just an expansion pack, but it made a few key improvements, upped the game length and difficulty and generally said don’t screw with a good thing. I try to forget that X-Com games were ever made after TftD, they’re all so horrible…

panamajack: for modern sub simulations, Red Storm Rising has been far outclassed by the more recent 688(i) Hunter-Killer and its successor Sub Command.

As has been said, Fallout Tactics is okay but not up to the spec of X-Com or Jagged Alliance.

Now, as for my wishlist:

A combat flight sim…based on dragons! No, don’t mention Drakan, I’m not interested in a bad Tomb Raider clone with a flying horse, who flew in looney ways anyway.

A remake of Aliens Online. I might eventually make this one myself. Fun game, I always enjoyed playing mindgames with the marines (hiss!) No, don’t mention Aliens vs Predator (piece of crap)

A first-person tactical combat simulation, not just some dressed up shooter game like Rainbow Six.

A good PC version of Harpoon. With multiplayer.

I’d like to see an online 3D shooter that gives everyone a “cheater killer” gun with unlimited ammo that serves only one purpose, it fires heat-seeking explosive "smart’ bullets at anyone who is using a cheat code. This gun would not affect anyone else in the game and would be useless against them. So, go ahead, use your cheat code, but at great risk.

I’d also like to see a racing game that used real cars, with realistic rust, transmissions that go out, and mufflers that fall off, etc. The cars would also range from a new Mustang to an old Beetle with everything in between.

I’ll agree that X-Com needs to be remade, but you just know they’d want to do it with real-time combat… Never did play Apocalypse because I hated the demo.

Personally, I want a chance to play as the aliens.

Oddly enough, I was thinking yesterday that it might be an interesting concept to play a game as a malevolent alien race that invades planet after planet. Kind of like Rebellion mixed with X-Com, but with a much more manageable interface than the former, thus the potential for much more depth on a planetary strategic scale.

Potentially that might work as a massively multiplayer internet game if opposing players controlled the defending species. Also, I could see it being split into two games–a strategic portion with turn-based galactic & planetary generalship, and a tactical portion (either turn or real-time) with grunts.

I remember seeing ads for a pokemon game where you just took virtural photos of pokemons.
So why not a Playboy Photographer game? Huh? Who’s with me on this?

I’m with you. I’d also like to say I am greatly dissapointed by the lack of truly interactive and high-quality computer pornography.
