Computer Screen Displays Incomplete

A friend is having a computer problem that started a couple weeks ago where her website screens don’t fully display. For example, the buttons don’t have the demarcation lines around them, they’re just text. The screens are missing backgrounds. How can this be fixed?

Is this happening with all (or many) web sites?

If so, it sounds like a browser issue. It is not loading graphics or is not rendering properly.

Might she have it set not to use any style sheets, or to some alternative style sheet? (In Firefox this is set on the View menu - It should be set to Basic Style).

Or perhaps “load images automatically” is unchecked on the content tab of the options dialog (Firefox again - it may be somewhere different in other browsers).

If that is not it, maybe reinstalling the browser (or using a different one) would help.

If it is just one particular page that is doing this, it is probably their problem, not hers.

It is a webwide problem including Ebay screens. She has Windows 7.

Windows 7 uses hardware acceleration for 2D UI stuff, meaning that a bad driver can cause weird things exactly like that. Try updating the video driver.

The photo doesn’t display for an Ebay auction although the small photo(s) immediately below it display.
