Cones on the Loose - an orange MMP

Thanks for the welcomes from

Mindfield,
Most Creative User Name Ever (I think I know you, too.)
Delores Reborn, and
Heffalump and Roo.

You are all so friendly; I’m doing my best to *not * hold it against LOUNE for completely ignoring me. Obviously he has a lot on his mind with the new roommate, and all.

I’m going to go ahead and suggest Patton, Abrams, Panzer, Tiger, and T-34 as alternative tank/turtle names. But, I’ll vote for Peabody, anyway. You know it’s the best name ever.

Obviously I’m new here, so be kind. I don’t know the rules (or, how often they change). Like why is rosie pink and keen on rubber bands? And, are we allowed to discuss our extensive paper clip collections? Or, dreadful fear of house centipedes? Yuck.

Welcome, Smooth Jack!

Oh dear Og. :: shudder ::

Thanks!

Welcome to my world.

That’s what I’m saying. (And, happy birthday!)

Seems like I find one of these dudes in the shower once a week. If I were wearing shoes, I could cope.

Hi ya! RFP is done and out the door. Yay!

Lo, sj, don’t forget the chocolates for fcm cause she’s NICE, dammit!

scl, continued good thoughts for libby.

ellen! I love Antiques Roadshow. I’m jealous!

Still hawt here as well. Just another day in Paradise.

gt and kai, any signs of those babies yet?

bobbio, my sister, Nurse Debbie[sup]TM[/sup] used to work ER. She said that the drunks always say they only had “two” drinks.

So last night I get home and Mr. Anachi is in the back yard wringing wet with sweat cause he’s been trying to cut out tree roots where the pool deck is going in. Meanwhile, the chainsaw isn’t a “for real” one. It’s a little baby one and it’s like trying to cut granite with an emery board. I made him quit when the light started to fade. Today, the job superintendent came by and used a real manly-man chainsaw to finish the job.

We used to have a turtle. We raised it up from a baby to the size of a small dinner plate. We named it Myrtle. Myrtle used to take food sticks from my fingers. Then Myrtle went to live at the Science Center.

That is all.

Tupug

Aaagh!

House centipedes!

Demon-bugs!

Kill! Kill! Kill!

Jack, the number one rule of the MMP is, there are no rules! ("Cept for sending chocolate to FCM.)

Rosie is pink because she’s a rose, silly! I’m not sure about the rubber band fetish, that’s kind of a new thing.

Are centipedes worse than flying cockroaches?

That article describes them as an “aesthetic nuisance”. Yeah, right…

I couldn’t have said it better than myself.

Actually, wait. I scream, run away, and have my husband kill them. HATE centipedes. The pictures even make me squeemish.

Happy Birthday Sunspace!!

Jack, everyone in the MMP is kind…just watch out for that **LOUNE ** guy…

There are no rules here. Only requirement that I have learned in my short time here is to offer **FCM ** chocolate. Oh, and you need a cool kid name…speaking of cool kid names, does someone have a master list of all of the names? I can never remember all of them, lol.

I always have to fight calling** Smooth Jack** “Bumpy Rob”.

Aw, what the heck - rubber bands for everyone!!

I started reading this thread, but I had to quit and turn off the 'puter when Stormasaurus came thru. Thunder! Lightnin! Wind! Rain! Hail!! Doggies and kitty plastered to me for protection or comfort or something. For about 20 minutes, it was really bad, but now it’s just wet and there are lots of leaves all over the yard. I don’t think any of our trees fell, so that’s good.

**FCD ** is still at work, where he’ll remain for some time. He has a big project that has to get done, and unfortunately, the engineer he hired to take some of his load has turned out to be a load herself. She’s been there 9 months and she has yet to show any initiative. She was theoretically supposed to get a raise at 6 months, but that didn’t happen. He’d love to fire her, but that won’t happen since he’s a gov’t contractor, and she’s a female and a minority. He has documented all the conversations he’s had with her about her performance, but he said his boss won’t back him. Yesterday, he told her she’d have to go out west to monitor some equipment that was being shipped. She told him she couldn’t because she already had plans. He pointed out that this is her job. I think he should have suggested that if she didn’t want to go, she could just quit… Anyway, since he’s still not got any help, he’s got to stay tonight till it’s done. My poor baby…

Since he’ll be way late, I’m having leftover pizza for supper, then I’m going to play with glaze in my studio for a while. And maybe have some ice cream.

Welcome, SmoothDude! In case you haven’t figured it out, there are no rule of the MMP. It is suggested that if you want to start one Monday, you volunteer ahead of time so we know we’re covered. Other than that, the only requirement is that you send me love offerings of fine chocolates. That is an absolute. If you don’t, well, you’ll end up on The List, and you don’t want that. I promise you… :stuck_out_tongue:

Howdy!

I feel like I’m hardly ever here any more! But I’m here in spirit.

Yesterday was a coworker’s birthday so I brought in cake today. A chocolate cake with peanut butter filling and frosting. It was really good if I do say so myself. And since it disappeared by 1pm, I’d say other people agree with that assessment. I do like making baked goods to bring to work. It makes me popular.

Welcome, Smooth Jack!

~Happy Birthday, Sunspace!!~

fills LOUNE’s shoes with purple glitter

Libby is a tiny bit better today; her white cell count is up to 3 from .8, so her bone marrow is starting to recover. No more masks and gloves for the moment. The doctors tell us that the next two or three days be the deciding ones; either she will slowly improve or she will go further down. So we are just hoping and telling her we love her. Yesterday her sister’s SUV died in the parking garage, so I spent three hours this morning with our mechanic in an obcenely hot parking garage turning the ignition at his request. I’m just dead from the heat so I’m not going back tonight - she has plenty of visitors during the evening. I’ll head back up in the morning. Thank all of you so much for your prayers and good wishes.

Now I get to go clean litter boxes. All of the cats are upset with me for being gone so much lately and are right underfoot. Fun!

Price tags, CanineServant? In a DOLLAR STORE?

Not the list!!! (How are we on excessive punctuation?)

Lucky for me I buy candy by the carton. On occaison my wife and I get a whole box of candy bars from Sam’s club. Then, we eat it the entire thing over a single weekend. It’s sad, and wrong, but we find comfort in doing it together.

The thing is I found a box of Reese’s Peanut Butter cups in her closet a couple days ago. (The door was open.) That’s like cheating, right? I’m considering emptying the carton and putting a house centipede in there instead. Would that be cruel?

In the meantime, I have chocolate to spare. Help yourself FCM.

Smooth, I think if you did that, you wouldn’t be getting lucky for a long time…might not be the best of your ideas, but your welcome to try it and let us know how it goes over.

Get chocolate covered house centipedes. Best of both worlds and all that.

bungee cords a couple cats to each dog at the FairyChatHouse and bounces squeaky toys all over

I got me a nice shiny new work laptop today. My previous one was a hand-me-down from an engineer that quit and he had trashed it but as it was still under warrenty they kept repairing the stoopid thing - I burnt my way through 2 hard drives with that thing!

Last week I had blue screen twice and on Friday I finally got black screen of nothingness for about 45 mins. Oh dear says I.

I call nice friendly IT guru who informs me that black-screen-of-nothingness-Friday was indeed the last day of the warrenty for the ‘brick’ aka Standard issue field laptop

I handed over the brick yesterday and seeing as I am a high faluting management type now I got a rather sleek slimline widescreen with go faster stripes laptop in return!!! This is an amazing concept - I can have my e-mail and more than one other window open now without everythign grinding to a shuddering halt!

:stuck_out_tongue:

SCL Libby and her family and you are in my thoughts

I’ve just finished decorating my purple squiggle monster. She (yes, she’s a she) is mostly white with purple lips, a blue horn, blue feet, purple in her ears, peach eyeballs with orange irises, yellow eyebrows with green highlights, and (wait for it) purple squiggles all over the white body. I figure some little girl will squee all over it. At least I hope so.

**FCD ** is on his way home. At last. I’m cooling off with a bowl of moose crap (that’s our cute name for moose tracks ice cream - don’t you love it? )

And I guess this isn’t a secret so I’ll tell you all so you can get jealous and stuff. This Saturday, there will be a mini-Dopefest afloat when **welby ** and welbywife join us for an afternoon of sailing, weather permitting. Don’cha wish you lived close enough to sail with us? 'Cause all ya gotta do is ask - we’re always up for a sail! Weather permitting.

Hope the stoopit weather cooperates. You may now engage envy mode.

Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! <raises hand> Can we go sailing sometime, FCM? I absolutely adore being out on the water! And we’re even nearby!

Poor Papa Tigs came home from work sicker than a dog. He’s got some kind of flu-like bug, aching all over. So instead of coming home and going to bed like a sensible person – actually, a sensible person would have stayed home to begin with – he hunkered down in his office so he wouldn’t infect the whole hospital. Then he comes home to infect me. Fortunately, since Alabaster Bunny just moved out, we have a guest room again, so guess where I’m sleeping tonight? I do not have time to get sick.

I haven’t gotten a whole scarf knitted today since I’ve been actually working for a change, but I have gotten about a foot and a half done. And will do more this evening, I’m sure. I’ve picked out my next scarf pattern, too; it’s not only easy, but has a hat pattern to match. But I’ve got to finish this one first, obviously.

Okay, back to knitting. Or working. Or something.

Sure, **MamaTigs ** - let’s shoot for after the craft show. It should be a tad cooler by then. Plus you have knitting and I have claying to get done before then!
