Living in England is so cool! When you want to go to Europe, you’ve only to catch a train or a ferry. (or swim, if you’re the hearty type) Never be able to do that from here.
Vertical, ventilating, and caffeination underway.
No fires or ambulance runs last night for moi, and VWife was happy.
VunderKind is in the air now. I know this because I just tried to text him, and the message is delayed in transit, meaning his phone is shut off. It’s a rare day when that happens, so that means his butt is on the plane.
Unfortunately, I have to work all day, so I see him briefly at lunch, but for real not until tonight.
:dubious: It may be an island, but England IS part of Europe. You’re already there.
geographically, sure. but that’s like saying Queens and Brooklyn are on Long Island. The residents of those burroughs would deny that fact tooth and nail
Not that I pay attention to this much, but why are ads for potty training and firing employees? It seems an odd combunation to say the least.
Many Happy Returns of the day, Sunspace. The husband is serioulsy into solar, too. At least talking about it, he is. I think it’s cool, but don’t want an ugly solar panel propped up on my roof (I’ve seen some weird installations). Therefore, the husband thinks I’m against alternative fuel. Not at all, but with function must come form…<sigh>
Off to work. Most of the peoples we see in Same Day Surgery are very nice. They are polite and patient and just nice. Except yesterday, when we had Bitch on Wheels. Didn’t trust the nurses to put her stuff in a locked locker.(“how do I know you’ll put it in the locker?” The CNA almost said, “because I don’t want your clothes–your the wrong size for me!”). Wanted to know who was qualifed to start her IV (the nurse told her, "I’ve been doing this since 1981, I’m qualified.) Didn’t take off all her clothes, so was found out in OR Holding–yes, your underpants must come off for cervical surgery. It’s true. After OR, she wanted a tray. (they get a standard tray, no ordering). She doesn’t eat pork-okay. She gets beef. But where is the tray for her mother? And what is taking so long?
And the kicker is that she IS a nurse-in a newborn nursery. Poor mites. She probably uses them for pitching practice…
Just got a text message: VKid is safe in Charlotte, waiting for the flight to Norfolk.
Urgh. Awake.
Must run off and do laundry before baby-checking appointment. I hope the kidlet stays still so we can tell if it’s a boy or a girl.
Need caffeine.
Howdy All!
My time at work today should actually resemble a state worker job for a change. That is, I have one morning meeting, then the department summer Luau, then I’m going home!
Welbywife and I are mighty excited about getting out on the water with the FairyChats tomorrow. Well, I’m mighty excited. Welbywife has entered a state of anticipation that is, quite frankly, alarming. We’ll take lots of pictures so that your feelings of jealousy will have something to reference in the future.
That’s all for now, I’m off to pit something instead.
Must. Avoid. Joke. About. Alumni. Called. Philanderers.
Geez, what am I thinking, I’m not gonna pit anything yet. I almost forgot to mention:
Our days with the effing INS are OVER, BABY!
On Tuesday Welbydaughter became the last of the family to get her citizenship!!!
It only took the INS folks 2 years and 4 resubmitted applications, too! Just our luck though, that the INS reaches its peak level of efficiency when we’re finally done dealing with them.
Imagine it from my end… (the fill me with grrrr part)
She has A LOT of baggage, too much to explain here. To put it in a nutshell, she’s her happiest when I’m home and in sight, if not waiting on her hand and foot. Part of it is her poor health, and she’s afraid I won’t be there to care for her if something happens.
Another part is that she doesn’t trust guys in general, and she’s convinced that I’ll be fooling around on her if I’m out of her sight. Doesn’t matter that I’m fat and ugly, and I couldn’t get laid in a monkey whorehouse if I took in a bag of bananas…
Happy Birthday Sunny!!!
Yay for WelbyDaughter!
LOUNE it was a best-ball outing - just for fun really. Our group together shot 4 under, so it wasn’t bad, but it didn’t win anything.
I fell sound asleep on the couch last night at some point, and Wife had to wake me up to go up to bed. I was drained.
Today is a semi-industrious day. I have a small pile of things I MUST do, but after them, I’m not optimistic about tackling new things today.
Well, VKid’s plane should be pushing back from the gate now…
Naaaaah, I’m not excited
Morning, all. I’m up and caffeinating.
Happy Birthday, Sunspace!
The kitty is looking SO beautiful, Wile E! I’m so glad you not only took such good care of him, but found him a home. He’s going to be simply stunning when he grows up – and it looks like he landed on all four paws!
Congrats on building your standmina, Rosie! I know it’s a good feeling to be able to participate in your chorus properly. Sounds like you’re doing good!
Continued prayers for Lilly. It sounds like she’s in good hands, and I know she’ll be well cared for no matter what happens.
Papa Tigs was feeling enough better from his flu-like stuff that he went off to the doctor’s by himself this morning. Presumably he can handle things himself. And at least he knows not to yell at the nice people at the doctor’s office who are trying to help him, too.
I, on the other hand, managed to twist my (new) knee very painfully during the night – I was sleeping in the guest room so I wouldn’t catch Papa Tigs’ bug, and Alabaster Bunny had left a lovely thick memory foam mattress pad on the bed, which is sooo comfortable. But it’s also a bit harder to get purchase to roll over than I’m used to, so I pushed with my leg that the new knee is on at the wrong angle. And then spent the next five minutes rolling around clutching it and trying not to yell in pain and wake Papa Tigs up in the other room and hoping I hadn’t completely screwed it up. It’s been doing so well, sometimes I forget that it’s not completely all better yet and yes indeed, it still has the power to be incredibly painful if provoked. It’s a bit swollen this morning, too, so that’s definitely my cue to take it easy today. And be more careful rolling over in my sleep!
Back to work. I’ve got some stuff that has to get finished today, and yakking with you all isn’t getting it done!
I just got caught up and was about to post when my data samples came in. So now I have to go review them. Bleh. It’s the most boring part of my job. But it’s necessary, it has to be done very carefully, and it has to be done fast. Major bleh.
rosie, they’re Weeds. . .they look all just the same!
doggio, time to go home. . . It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere.
**
BooFae**, what an interesting life you lead! Thanks for sharing it with us. It gives me inspiration.
welby, congrats on your daughter’s citizenship.
Mamatigs, sorry to hear about the knee. I hope it heals soon.
taxi, I don’t know if this helps, but it’s five o’clock somewhere. See my note to doggio.
I’m up and moving. Barely. I went to sleep much too late last night. But I’m moving. . .watch me go. . . kinda.
Aaaaaaaaaand the data samples are screwed up. So it means I get to do this again. Later in the day. On a Friday. When we’re supposed to be able to leave at noon. What do you think the chances are that I’ll have corrected samples by noon? Yeah, not so good. Grrrrrr.
Not when I’m suposed to leave at noon!
Excuse me?? I don’t throw things. I just deploy The Look and then add offenders to The List. Throwing things is just so childish. Plus it requires certain physical strength and a sense of aim which I lack. So I don’t. Besides, throwing isn’t nice, and I’m nice, dammit!
I’m also home from work early. I had a terrible night last night. Between spousal snoring and a T-storm and a bit of gastrointestinal distress, I couldn’t string together any appreciable sleep. When my 10AM meeting was canceled, I took it as a sign and came home. Might as well - the next 3 weeks are heavily scheduled and I won’t get many, if any, breaks. So I’ll peruse the boards and the funnies, have some lunch, then change into grubbies and do a little clay throwing. Or take a nap. We’ll see what happens.
Oh yeah - today I’ll be packaging and mailing out the requested ceramic pieces. Since interest was pretty much lacking, I’ll be putting the unclaimed pieces back into the rotation. Maybe I’ll try reglazing a few and seeing if I improve their marketability.
TGIF!!
Congratulations on your daughter’s citizenship and on sailing with the FairyChatFamily, welby!
Oh yes, I forgot to congratulate the welbykidlet on her citizenship! And even heartier congrats at not having to deal with INS (or whatever their acronym is these days). I only had to do that once, briefly, and it was such a freaking nightmare I honestly don’t know how you survived four resubmissions with your sanity intact!
Or, could that perhaps be…nah, I won’t go there.
