Happy Birthday, DottyGumDrop!!
Happy Birthday, Dotty!! <flinging confetti with wild and reckless abandon>
I’m up not-so-early today - I actually slept till 6!! And the main reason I roused was I got all pissed off in a dream and I woke up angry at FCD! I was in the shower, all soaped up, getting ready to rinse, and he turned all the water to the house off because he wanted to complete some project. I have no idea why I’d dream that, because he’s absolutely not like that at all. Weird.
Speaking of projects, it looks like the workshop project won’t be happening this year. The estimates are up over $12K even with us doing most of the work, and that doesn’t include having a new electric service brought in. By the time everything gets figured and a fudge factor added, I fear it’ll end up being twice what we’d originally hoped. So it’ll have to wait till after we get the kid off the dole. And instead, we’ll finish the blue bathroom, which shouldn’t even cost $1K (wanna bet?) then look into new windows for the house. And the workshop will wait till the kids are living here and can help.
So I’m up and showered, the critters have been tended to, and I’ve got windows open - it dropped into the 60s last night. Ahhhh, bliss! And I looked at the extended forecast - end of next week, we’re promised a lot of nighttime 60s. Dare I hope that summer will wind down soon?
Roo, I don’t think we ever have to worry about **swampy ** finding playtime. Ever. 'nuff said.
Plans for the day - SAILING!! After **FCD ** gets up and dressed, we’ll load the car, go get some breakfast, then mosey to the marina. We’ve got to tidy and test a few things, then when the welbys arrive, we’ll drop lines and head out. If only the temps would stay where they are. 'Cept there’s no wind right now…
Anyway, I won’t be back till later, so don’t get all fretty and stuff. I know you worry and panic when I’m not here, but really, it’ll be fine. Think happy thoughts. Do your chores. And stay out of my chocolate stash!!!

Happy Birthday Dotty!!!

Roo, that’s what dad say is the thing to do, and they’ve been married for 38 years, so it must help.
I think Haze is busy filling out Form 12345ABC-010001010101 in quadruplicate at the Consulate in Toronto.
Congrats on the baby, gt!
FCM, enjoy the sailing.
Rosie, I am a Parrot-head. An apparently so is the person who does the programing for the music service we use at work.
I think it’s laundry time
“Yes, dear” is too hackneyed and can be taken sarcastically. (I meant to add that the hereletmedothat cannot be said sarcastically).
I am up and have a bloody nose. WTH?
Another sauna-like day today. Frankly, if I wanted to live in Alabama or Georgia in August, I would. I am very sick and tired of this weather. I want FALL, dammit. Make it so, somebody.
big kids come home today after roughing it in the boundary waters for a week. They come home to clean sheets, and I think I’ll make a cake.
Happy weekend to all, Happy Birthday, Citizenship etc to those effected by such events…
Off to run errands before the putridity(word?) becomes more intense out there.
All of you people with hot and humid weather can now officially hate me. At the moment where I am it’s 57F, with 46% humidity. And it’s supposed to get to about 80F where I’m going. Unfortunately for me, the light jacket I have in the car got buried somewhere during all the moving. I guess I’ll just have to be chilly while loading up the car and heading out to go home.
Chilly. In August. Wow.
Haze is flying back today. I don’t know if she’ll be online.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOTTY!
I’m up, and about to drink tea and call QD to find out the plans for the day. IN my dream she made pulled pork with tikka masala sauce, and I was upset because it wasn’t barbeque sauce. That proves my sleeping mind is irrational. Pulled pork with tikka masala sounds yummy.
No one actually wants to live in the south in August, even those that do. I’d been trying to get my garage cleaned up so I could get someone to come look at my Central AC unit which leaks and floods my garage so I haven’t been using it, but then I got the pneumonia and eye problem and it’s now way too hot to do anything so I am going to go to Lowes or Home Despot today for an A/C window unit. My living room is the only room in the house with the right kind of window. I may have to just live in my living room for the rest of the summer but at least I should be able to accomplish something inside.
Happy Birthday, Dotty!
I’m no longer speaking to my daughter. She’s just rubbing my nose in how wonderful it is where she’s going. (Although, come January or so, I’ll be rubbing her nose in it plenty as she suffers through Winter with a capital W! )
To my shock, it’s actually pleasant out this morning – cool enough that we turned off the air and opened the windows, and there’s an actual cool breeze blowing in! Take that, Alabaster Bunny! Pbbbtht! Of course, it won’t get down in the 40s here tonight…but I’m not complaining, considering that I’m still amazed at it being cool like this in August. It’s a perfect day for sailing, FCM – can you please pick one this nice to take us out this fall? Enjoy your day with the welbys, and you know photographic evidence is required!
I finally got that work done last night, and then spent a couple of productive hours knitting away on that feather-and-fan scarf, and will finish it up shortly. And then on to the next! I’m trying to decide if I want to use the same pattern on more scarves, but I think, to make it interesting, I’ll use slightly different patterns for each one to make them true one-of-a-kind originals. So what shall I use for the next one? <thumbs for pattern books>
Off to caffeinate some more and enjoy the lovely cool breeze!
MMMMMM, Shredded Wheat. Food of the Gods.
Ok, off to do Things.
Happy Burfday Dots!!
Happy Birthday, Dots!
I have a hangover and I need to get dressed and go to the hospital. Grrr.
It’s already 92 degrees.
Your lack of concern for ACBG is duly noted.
Or he’s really good in bed.
Sorry doggio, I couldn’t resist.
Hmm. Conflicting reports on Haze whereabouts. Well, Haze, if you’re filling out forms, good luck! I hope that you don’t get stuck in the country like Meg Ryan in “French Kiss” when she lied on the form. She had to marry a French man. Well, maybe that wouldn’t be so bad. If you’re on the plane flying home, have a safe flight. Wherever you are, hurry back!
Unless it’s said in that, “you’re moving too *&(&^% slow” way. In which case, it still gets the knucklehead award.
SCL, send some good thoughts to Libby from us.
It’s a beautiful morning here. There’s a nice cool breeze here this morning. And I’m up with nothing on the agenda for this beautiful Saturday. Nice!
ETA: First on page 8. YES!
It’s bee-yooo-teee-fullll today - perfect day for a backyard party
Off to get my hair done, then to pick up my friend, and away we go
just want to know one thing, FCM, does the confetti store sell abandon? and how can youtell the wild kind from the reckless kind? and since the reckless isn’t wild, is it farm raised abandon?
I dreamed my bedroom was full of little Manga style kittens, all chasing Manga style butterflies and there was one big fluffy off-white cat who crawled in thru my window and when it meowed, its mouth got elongated and tiny and round and the meow sounded like a muffled siren
This is the second time the siren cat has shown up in my dreams
Bah. I get to go to work for a couple hours! Yay!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOTTY!!!
I’m up and drinking some go juice. In about an hour, Mr. Taters will go and pick up our dog from the MIL. I missed my dog and will be happy to see him. I’m sure he’ll be happy to see us too. He’ll be “talking” for about an hour after he gets home and will stick to our sides like glue for the rest of the day.
More hugs to Libby and **SCL. ** I hope that today is a better day for Libby.
I’m still feeling a little wrung out, but hopefully, the coffee will cure that. We have much to do today. We need to wash the boat and flush it’s motor, plus wash the Expedition. Additionally, I need to laundry and go grocery shopping. Finally, we’ll need to get the camping stuff stowed so we can put the boat back in the garage.
It looks fairly pleasant outside; not too hot, not too cold.
Other than that, not much else going on here.
Cake in oven. I am all sweaty and gross and waiting for the shower to be free. I did one hour’s worth of yardwork and said, “F*** this.” So the yard looks like crap-we’re all inside and can’t see it!
I’ve been having weird dreams about the library and my new job. I also dreamed last night that I was inflated–I mean, I woke up and was 3 dress sizes larger than I am today. I felt the same inside, and didn’t realize it until I caught a glimpse of myself in a mirror, in my dream. There was something about new card catalogues in the lib, with designer card, all teal and magenta and cream (donated by a doctor)–no computers at all. Very weird. The other night I dreamt about my hair and someone had cut it too short and I couldn’t pull it back and I was having a hissy about it. Usually in my dreams I am going somewhere or doing something-not fixated on my hair or size. I blame the drugs I did in my youth.
Evening all! Thank you all for the birthday wishes.
I went out with my girlfriends for lunch, which was nice, followed up with grocery shopping, which was expensive and not so nice. The price of Noor’s formula just went up again - it is now equivalent to $US8 for a 14oz. tin. OUCH!!! And we still have a couple more months before she can start solids. Sigh!!!
So, it turns out I really really need to find a new job. My one real ally in the office is leaving in a couple of months - lucky beeyotch got a job with a law firm in the Cayman Islands (we both worked together in Australia and came out here within a month of each other in 2004). I have heard from my friend and others that one of the partners in the office (a needy woman who coincidentally was promoted to partner shortly after starting a sexual relationship with the senior partner) has been white-anting me while I have been on leave - blaming me for problems in transactions that I worked on with her (problems that I definitely did not create!) and generally trying to ruin my professional reputation. No problem - I already have a probable line on a new job, where they don’t work ridiculous hours or frown on people who put family ahead of work! Fingers crossed for me!!!
Okay, off to sort out Pizza Hut for some birthday dinner - BBQ Chicken pizza (with some Chipotle Tabasco), here we come!!!
I just got a call from Alabaster Bunny, who has safely arrived at her new home. Yay! She reports that it is even more beautiful than she expected, the town is also considerably more photogenic than depicted, and the altitude makes it much harder to carry stuff upstairs to the condo than she expected. She asked me to make her safe arrival report because she hasn’t checked yet to see if there’s wireless easily available, but should have all that kind of thing sorted out shortly – and worst case scenario, she can always go use free wifi in town until she can get it installed. There’s an art festival going on today, however, so she’s going to hunker down and relax until the traffic eases up.
So I guess now instead of being Pale Bunny or Alabaster Bunny, she becomes Potatoes (N.O.T.) Bunny!
I’m baking a lot of cakes lately.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOTTY!
Well, it’s a nice day out, warm, but not particularly humid, which is nice. I discovered yesterday that my local supermarket is closing down. This sucks. They weren’t the best – it was a Price Chopper – but they were convenient, being part of the mall I live behind. There’s a Real Canadian Superstore on the other side of the main street I live off of, and it’s only a few extra minutes walk, but it’s also more expensive for the most part, and there are some things they don’t carry that PC did. There’s also a Food Basics down the street but it’s even less convenient to shop at, especially since they have odd hours that are shorter than most other places. sigh I hope another supermarket opens up where PC will be vacating. It would be a lot more convenient.
I’m glad she made it safely MT. I’m also glad that the town seems more picturesque than she thought it would be.
She’ll have to take pictures and post them when she can.
Dotty, your work situation sounds awful. In fact, it sounds very similar to a situation I experienced many years ago. I hope you can get out of there soon, preferably without a large metaphorical knife in your back.
Ah, but I actually saw Haze yesterday, and doggio didn’t, so I have precise and factual imformation! She picked up her stuff yesterday, and is flying home today.
Do I want to bake a cake? It’s not very hot today. QD’s probably going to be here for dinner, and she usually wants cake. We still have baklava. But there’s some nice mixed berries in the freezer which would go with a plain or almond sponge cake.
Hm.
