Cones on the Loose - an orange MMP

Ooh, that reminds me, Swampy, thanks. (I woke up too early this morning so the ol’ brain isn’t firing well yet.) I need to do some housework before Papa Tigs gets home from his family reunion in Minnesota tonight. I’m also trying to figure out how to move Lapin Blanc’s heavy TV from the front bedroom back to the master bedroom – Papa Tigs isn’t allowed to lift more than 5 lbs right now with his neck problems, and I’m not sure I can handle it all by myself. Anybody want to come lend me a hand?

That sounds like fun! I love the hats. Of course anyone who saw you would stop and offer you rides wherever you wanted to go.

Glad you’re employed, Drae, even if it’s not exciting. Money is good.

It’s morning! And today our very own Haze is arriving in Toronto. I’m not meeting her tonight, since I’m working, but she’ll be over on Wednesday. Woohoo! The second MMPer I’ve met IRL!
I think I’ve got to do some cleaning, and then we’re going to Costco (Mr. Lissar is going to love it. He hates shopping) and I think I’ve pledged to watch some Doctor WHo. I’d better get on the cleaning.

And- six days, no puking. I think. Five or six. It’s a record. Maybe morning sickness is over?

Great OP, BooFae! It sounds like loads of fun for a worthy cause. Very cute costumes!

BBBobbio, what a rough night! I’m so glad there are people like you to help the victims. Good on ya!

Drae, yay on the job, and yay on feeling (at least mostly) better!

Swampus, I’m glad you’re sinuses are feeling better this morning. And I hope you don’t get too tired tonight!

My weekend was fairly uneventful. We booked the trip to Daytona, and Mr Rebo has been fast and furious on the Ebay listings, selling money! (He collects coins, and sells them.) It looks like he’ll raise all the cash we’ll need to cover the trip! Yay!

I cooked and cleaned and laundered, and the Mr was able to get the yardwork done. It only rained once this weekend! Yay! It’s supposed to be dry all week. Maybe we can take the kids to the dog park this weekend…

So I’m back at work, being the badass mean ol’ checker… I get to check other people’s work. I actually got a compliment last week, that the guy appreciated me teaching him all this stuff.

Ok, so back to it. Happy Monday all!

boofae, you just have too much fun! That looked like a total blast. And for a good cause, too. Where was 'im indoors while all this was happening?

drae, yay on the new job. Just take each day one at a time. How’s roomie doing on her search?

swamps, do you hire out? I allus wanted a burly maid.

bobbio, the way you’re going, you’re gonna put that old postman creed to shame. But good on you. Poor girl.

So the pool peeps didn’t arrive to pour the cement until after 4:30 on Friday and then they just did what they called a “flash pour” which was basically a bunch of hooey according to the pool superintendent. See Mr. Anachi was not amused that they didn’t do the pour as he had been requested to write a check (which he did) in advance for the work when normally it wasn’t due till completion of the pour. They better show up today or there will be Florida Cracker Hell to Pay!!

Oh, and did I tell you it was HAWT??? The heat index is in the triple digits and expected to stay that way for the rest of the week. Welcome to Flawduh!

Have a good trip, haze!

dots, having four bathrooms sounds like my worst nightmare. I’m good with only having to clean two…thankQverymuch.

Off to do some work.

Tupug

Hee! Papa Tigs just called, and lucky him, guess what he gets to do his last day in Minnesota? Take his mom on an all-day shopping trip to the Mall of America! Anybody in the area, if you hear shouting from several miles away, that’s probably them.

I’m hungry. That’s not news, though.

Good morning all. Coffee’s mostly in me, but I’m surprised I’m fairly awake. Hugs to all.

Drae, September is fine. Maybe rosie can come that way.

I’m only here till Wednesday! And then off to Montreal.

Wanted to share some lyrics with you. If I listen to this song too closely and drown out other things it always makes me cry, thinking of home.

  • Chitthi Aayi Hai Aayi Hai
    Chitthi Aayi Hai
    Chitthi Aayi Hai Vatan Se
    Chitthi Aayi Hai
    Bade Dinon Ke Baad,
    Hum Bevatnon Ko Yaad
    Vatan Ki Mitti Aayi Hai,
    Chitthi Aayi Hai … *

A letter has come
Come from my country
After many many days
My thoughts turn to my homeland
It bears the scent of home…
A letter has come

  • Upar Mera Naam Likha Hai,
    Andar Ye Paigham Likha Hai
    O Pardes Ko Jaane Vaale,
Laut Ke Phir Na Aane Vaale
    Saat Samundar Paar Gaya Tu,
    Humko Zinda Maar Gaya Tu
Khoon Ke Rishte Todh Gaya Tu,
Aankh Mein Aansoo Chhodh Gaya Tu
Kum Khaate Hain Kum Sote Hain,
    Bahut Zyaada Hum Rote Hain
    Chitthi Aayi Hai …*

On the top is written my name
Inside is written this message
O, you who went abroad
Who left and did not return
You crossed seven seas from us
You killed us while still alive
You broke the bonds of blood,
And left tears in our eyes,
We don’t eat much, we don’t sleep much
But we do cry a great deal…

  • Sooni Ho Gaeen Shehar Ki Galiyaan,
Kaante Ban Gaeen Baag Ki Kaliyaan
    Kehte Hain Saawan Ke Jhule,
Bhool Gaya Tu Hum Nahin Bhoole
    Tere Bin Jab Aayi Diwali,
Deep Nahin Dil Jale Hain Khaali
    Tere Bin Jab Aayi Holi,
    Pichkaari Se Chhooti Goli
    Peepal Soona Panghat Soona
    Ghar Shamshaan Ka Bana Namoona
    Fasal Kati Aayi Baisakhi,
    Tera Aana Reh Gaya Baaki
    Chitthi Aai Hai …*

The streets of our town seem empty
Flowers seem like thorns
They say that the colors of spring
You have forgotten we did not forget
When Diwali came without you
Our hearts, not the flame, burned,
When Holi came without you,
Instead of colors it seemed the gun shot real bullets
The square is lonely, as is the well
The home seems a reflection of hell
Harvest season has come, and comes Baisakhi
All that is left is your coming
(chorus)

  • Pehle Jab Tu Khat Likhta Tha
    Kaagaz Mein Chehra Dikhta Tha
Bund Hua Yeh Mel Bhi Ab To,
Khatam Hua Yeh Khel Bhi Ab To
    Doli Mein Jab Baithi Behna,
    Rasta Dekh Rahe The Naina
Maein To Baap Hoon Mera Kya Hai,
Teri Maan Ka Haal Bura Hai
    Teri Biwi Karti Hai Seva,
    Soorat Se Lagti Hai Bewa
    Toone Paisa Bahut Kamaaya,
    Is Paise Ne Desh Chhudaaya
    Panchhi Pinjra Todh Ke Aaja,
    Desh begaana chodke aaja
    Aaja umar bohot hai chotti
Apne ghar mein bhi hai roti*

When you used to write your letters
We saw your face in the paper
Now even this link is closed
Even this play is finished
When your sister sat in her palanquin
My eyes were watching for you
I’m just a father, what does it matter?
Your mother, her condition is terrible
Your wife, she serves us faithfully
From her face she looks bereft
You have earned a lot of money
But this money has stolen you from your country
O Golden Bird, break your cage and come home
Come home, our lives are too short
There is bread to be earned in our country too…
(chorus)

(Holi, Baisakhi, and Diwali are all holidays of course.)

Pugs, it was a Sunday. 'im indoors was either snoozing or playing with his gnome! I had to take my cellphone with me so I could remind him to feed the cats and put fresh water out for them otherwise he’d have forgotten completely until I got back home.

As it was, we stayed for some of the after-event partying so it was quite late when I got back. The cats were very pleased to see me because that meant they got more food!

Sadly, he doens’t drive so the best he could do was listen to the event news during the day on the radio but even that bored him fairly quickly because they have a limited playlist and none of it is stuff he likes. Perhaps next year I’ll get more interest if we dress up as World of Soddin’ Warcraft characters.

<snerk>

Is that what the Cool Kids are calling it these days?

Good morning everyone! Very cool thing you did BooFae and it sounds like it was a lot of fun too.

I hope today goes better for you Bobbio.

Today will be spent packing and picking stuff up from another grocery store. I didn’t get everything on my list, so I have to run to Safeway to get the last of it today. Then there will laundry and packing to do.

Oh, Swampy, you’ll be proud to know that I picked up honkin’ package of TP yesterday, so we’re all good on that front now.

I hope Lapin Blanc has a safe trip. When you get to Idaho, make sure to wave at us. I know you’ll be one state away, but wave all the same.

I’m not sure I’ll get a chance to pop in here before we leave tomorrow morning, so everybody have a good week and I’ll be sure to regale you with tales of our trip upon our return. I’ll post some pictures too.

Take care everyone.

Traffic cones…
This morning at 7 I left to take my son to daycare and go to work. When we left it was raining but no water standing on the streets, just a perfectly normal rainy morning. At 7:20, son at daycare now, I’m on the phone with my boss. I’m crying, I’m hyperventilating, I am seriously panicking. Flash flood! I’m stuck in a neighborhood 5 miles from work, and I can’t get to any main streets. I really can’t even drive around any more, now I’m in someone’s empty driveway and I really really hope they don’t come home. Every time I move the car an inch, water comes pouring down in sheets down my back and into my seat from my sunroof. Which is closed.

After a few minutes of sitting there, I can’t take it anymore. What if I end up sitting here all day and I STARVE!!? I brought my lunch, it’s sitting there in the seat, but still, for drama’s sake I entertain the notion of my body withering from starvation right there in that driveway. The water on the streets is up over my tires now in most spots, but somehow I get out onto the main street to find that I’m almost home (the daycare’s west, work is east of home). I trudge through chanting oh no, oh no, oh no until I get there. I take my shoes off to get through the parking lot without soaking them, come in, take my soaked clothes off, and get into my robe.

Aaah, much better. Whooo, what an adrenaline rush!

And good morning to you, Dopers.

VenusProbe, I don’t remember seeing you around much. Welcome (back) to the MMP!

BooFae, very cool OP. Those costumes are wild! Very cute, too. It’s wonderful to see people doing things for good causes.

Drae, sounds good on the job front. Nice that your stomach issues are getting sorted out. I hope it feels much better soon. . . perhaps when you get a permanent job?

Dotty, check the end of the last MMP for your song. You must have gotten here before I realized this one was done.

Good luck to pale bunny for the adventurous trip! And to Mamatigs for hanging in until the adventurous trip is over.

swampy, I hope you’re able to get back on your regular sleep schedule. Sleep is good.

Alice, I’m glad your story had a happy ending. It made me think of a warm shower. I hope you’re warm and relaxed now. Take care.
Good morning all! It’s cold here. In August. Very weird. But luckily not raining. It’s actually pretty pleasant, just colder than it normally is in August. I’m having a bit of trouble getting going, so that gives me an idea for tonight’s song for Dotty. But here I go. I’m going to start moving. Really.
Have a great day all!

Goonie (that’s your nickname for now anyways) I’m glad you made it home safe.

Taters I’m glad you bought lots of tp. We won’t let this weekend’s fiasco happen ever again, now will we, young lady? Have a fun vacation! Don’t forget to pack extra you know what.

BioTigs I spent a couple hours in the Maul of Amurrka once. That was more than enough. There’s a Maul of Georgia just north of Etlanner. I’ve been there twice. That was also more than enough.

Today’s work ensemble shall be purple pocket tshirt and black jeans. Just thought y’all would want to know.

Puggy are you gettin’ a total concrete pool? A for real cee-mint pond?

ETA: I’ve spiffed up the parts of da cave I wanted to get spiffed today. Yay me!

Have a safe trip Alabaster Bunny!

Off to the airport. Next time I post it’ll be from Toronto.

I’m counting the days. VunderKind is coming Friday…

I cleaned the bathroom and mopped the kitchen floor. I need to spot clean the carpet, after yesterdays incident. Maggie Wonderbeagle will only eat gooshy food after her kennel stay. There is no better breakfast entertainment than to watch your dog eat an entire can of Alpo, hork it onto the rug, and suck it back in. One of her previous owners must have been Mr. Creosote.

Enjoy your trip. Taters!

LiLi, make sure to take some pictures when [color=Haze[/color] gets there.

BooFae, do you really want 'im indoors playing with his gnome on public?

Alice(AlGoo?), glad you made it through safely.

Roo, I wish I were somewhere cold.

Have a fun a safe trip Haze! Here’s hopin’ LiLi won’t puke on ya. Though I doubt she’d do that. She’s all classy and couth. She’d turn her head.

I just went out and got the mail. It’s probably been sittin’ in my box for a good three hours but I just now remembered to go check. I knew I’d have my pay statement from the brewry. It’s so screwy! See, I knew there was x amount of overtime and it’s all there and accounted for but they divide it up into all these categories known only to TPTB in accounting I guess. Long as I’m paid the correct amount for each hour I don’t care how they arrive at it though. The statement comes from Milwaukee btw. Just thought I’d share that.

Hah! I got to sneak back in here. I’m currently waiting to rinse the dye out of my hair. I had some serious gray roots going on and that just wouldn’t do now, would it?

I forgot to offer congrats to Drae. I hope the job turns/remains a permanent job.

Yes, dear Swampy, the TP is on the list to pack. Nothing worse than having to erm…well, be without TP when you’re a girl.

Have a safe trip Haze. I’ll be **Li-Li ** will feed you one of her famous treats she’s always talking about here.

Wow, Alice, it sounds like you’ve had the quite morning! Here’s hoping things calm down soon.

Fifteen more minutes and I can wash this goop out of hair.

Sniff It makes a bear so proud, it does! Sniff

See, I was back readin’ the end of the last MMP when I saw that both doggio and Heff and Roo realize the importance of keepin’ plenty of tp around.

Sean, see, some of do make a difference! :stuck_out_tongue: Now have you checked on your tp supply, young man?

Ok children, time to suit up, pack up and go make some beer. Y’all be sweet while I’m at work. No pushin’, shovin’, kickin’, bitin’, throwin’ things, runnin’ with scissors or tping each other. Dinner’s in the oven. It’s tuna casserole. Eat it! It’s good for you!

Later Y’all!
