I washed and dried my RAZR about a year ago - didn’t know it until we heard the clunking in the dryer. I left the battery out and put the phone in our oven’s warming drawer for a day (it gets about as hot as a parked car in full sun) and it’s been fine ever since, aside from the bright red “I got wet!” sticker inside the phone and some residual schmutz between the main display and the case. So, there is hope for yours.
Don’t I know it… We brought in somewhere around $12,000 on Friday night for the PBS station. Well, the viewers called in with pledges. We just answered the phones and wrote it all down. Half of us The other half
We got a package in the mail on Saturday, and my first thought was “How did **FairyChatMom ** get our address?” I hav no idea what the significance was (and I’m usually pretty good at sussing out codes on packages) but the shipping label had **FCM ** in the top corner. Perhaps she has a side job selling instruction books for old sewing machines?
Wow, gotti, that’s some, er, impressive cleavage the woman in the bottom row far left in the second photo has! Looks like you guys had fun, though.
I haven’ thad quite as much fun thus far today. I worked for a bit, then scrubbed both bathrooms, then took a shower (no point in showering before the scrubbing with the humidity today). Then I went outside to throw the Kong for Isaac while I brushed my hair dry, but it was so humid it was still as wet when I came inside as when I went outside. So I ended up using the hair dryer, which I always like to avoid; it always makes my hair so much more flyaway. I know I could use all kinds of [del]expensive[/del] fancy “product” to tame it, but I’m not that big on gouping up my head. Air drying usually works just fine, weather permitting.
And now back to work. Paying work, that is. I’ll clean up the kitchen later – mostly it needs a counter scrub/under-burner-ring stove clean. It’s not as strenuous as crawling around on my hands and knees in the bathroom, so I can do it without getting all sweaty. Have I mentioned, also, that my bionic knee still isn’t a real fan of me kneeling on it? I can put about 25% of my weight on it when I’m on both knees, but only with fairly thick padding. I see why they say gardening isn’t doable for at least six months after a knee replacement, considering how decidedly less than fun it feels to kneel at this point!
Oh, I forgot to mention that Alabaster Bunny (I like that one, [color=purple]Haze[color]!) called me midmorning to let me know she was nearly to Ohio already. So clearly leaving at 0 dark 30 worked to avoid all the rush hour traffic in this area, and she may even make it to Young Tiger’s in Omaha in two days. We shall see!
That’s the magic of a bodice. Where a bra compresses and squishes, a bodice lifts and supports with fairly spectacular results. After a day of seeing hundreds of “goddesses in bodices,” most young straight guys look like this. I shouln’t pick on him too much, but he is dating the young lass you pointed out.
Sho Nuff, beermeister. Specs from the web site. The only difference is that we are upgrading to the pebble finish and we aren’t screening it at this time. Here’s a pic very close to how our’s will look (top pic) except we’ll have two bubblers that will be set right into the steps and swim-out, and no pavers. Mr. Anachi has informed me that the cee-ment was poured bright and early this morning.
Sounds like they gave you a “hot load” which is concrete code for “We’ve got this truck full of concrete that’s going to solidify within the hour and we need to get it out of the truck now! What unsuspecting job can we fob it off on?”
Forgot to say - Not that there’s anything inherently wrong with a hot load, but it’s really close to its drop-dead point and may be a little harder (eg: stiffer, thicker) to work with.
Our friends who built the huge outdoor kitchen made good use of hot loads - they contacted the local concrete companies and said “We’re building a barbecue and need either ten yards by xxx date, or we’ll take hot loads at xx% discount before that date with a half-hour advance notice.” Think they got half of their concrete at one-quarter normal price. Win-Win for everyone, especially the poor schlub who’d otherwise be chiseling out hardened concrete from the truck.
Good thing **swampy’s ** gone to work or there’d be much snerking at the first paragraph…
Cool OP **BooFae **- looks like you all had fun, and for a good purpose!
I’m just checking in to say hullo, goodbye, boo and cheers to everyone wherever applicable. Still battening down the hatches here before Wednesday, hopefully the house won’t explode while I’m gone.
Safe journey to fellow travelers this week** lapin blanc** and Haze.
Great OP, BooFae and congrats on raising so much for such a great cause! Which cone is you, btw?
Congrats to Drae on the job (crossing my fingers for you that it’ll be good and turn permanent) and a loud WOO HOO for LiLi in hope that the morning sickness has passed!
BBBBobbio, so sorry that you had such a restless night, and busy as well. I didn’t sleep well last night either, but at least I wasn’t called to an EMT scene, whew!
I’ll take some of that tuna casserole, Swampy! laughs It’s actually a favorite of mine, and one of the first things I learned to cook, way back when I was in Jr. High home ec. Uh oh, that really dates me, doesn’t it? We even put little pimientos on top. It was delicious.
Well, I own an old sewing machine - my grandmother’s Singer treadle machine. But I don’t sell any kind of instruction books, despite being pretty good at telling people what to do…
And dinner wasn’t tuna casserole - it was ham/slicedN.O.T./onion/peas/white sauce casserole, and it was yummerrific! Plus there’s enough left over for my lunch tomorrow. YAY! And my sweetie brought home Boston Cream Pie for dessert. Oh yeah.
It was a pretty good day at work - I may be getting back to a project I really want to do and away from the one I’m on now which is so incredibly meh. So I’m excited.
BooFae, way cool OP! I would so love to do a fundraiser like that, although where we live, I couldn’t see people cooperating enough to offer rides to oddly dressed groups.
So, is it Friday yet?
Gee, I use “so” an awful lot, don’t I?
GT–re your post re my post. No, he doesn’t miss me and he’s not helpless. He thinks that his every move is fascinating. He’ll call me to tell me he had a good cup of coffee. (ok, so that’s mean–I hadn’t used my mean quota today, now I have)
MORE RAIN and THUNDERBOOMERS today. Did a hurricane hit and send this weather northwards? This has gotten old.
I went alone to the movies today–I’m actually beginning to like doing that more than going with someone. I wonder when I start muttering to myself and collecting cats. I saw Hairspray again–love, love, love that movie. I bought the soundtrack today too–great tunes, but what is Ricki Lake doing on the last track? And there are 3 songs on this that aren’t in the movie–fine by me (but now I wish there were).
Great OP, BooFae–I love the final costumes and I am jealous of your zest for life. I wish people did stuff like that around here–we’re all so boring. We don’t even get Renaissance folk for our PBS fund drives…
Off to watch the rain and read another mystery. Tomorrow is my last day of [delete]freedom[/delet] being home alone. I get to work the rest of the week. Yippee.
I grew up on dinners such as tuna casserole. Or elbow macaroni with some kind of tomato sauce and hamburger and this and that. What Papa Tiger, growing up in Minnesota, knows as hot dish. (Speaking of which, yes, they did indeed have hot dish and bars at their reunion dinner. Garrison Keillor can rest easy.) Today I still love them, especially at a potluck where all the food gets mixed together on your plate till you don’t know what’s what, but it all tastes yummerific.
But I don’t know what my supper will be tonight because it’s just me and I’m really not inclined to cook just for me. So we shall see.
Good news on the no barfing, LiLi. Here’s hoping it keeps up. You certainly barfed enough for two or three pregnancies!
Speaking of things that sound filthy but aren’t, I’ve spent the afternoon balling yarn. You may now <snerk> as appropriate.
Hey, I caught the MMP early in the week so I could actually read it! I missed last weeks because I’ve been having eye problems and I could only read a little bit at a time which is never enough to keep up with an MMP.
Hey, I found a home for the kitty project with a fellow Doper! Yay!
More recent pics of him with his eyes looking better in post #8 in this thread.
BooFae, that sounds like a fun event.
and now everything is blurry again so I’m going to sign off for a while. Toodles.
Maggie and I like tuna. Heck, I’m having fish casserole tonight. There was a thunderstorm this afternoon, so it only got up to 94. I even had the A/C off for most of the day.
Great news on the kitty front, Wile E.!
rigs, one of my uncles is turning into a crazy cat guy.
gotti, $12K for a busty wench? :looks under couch for pennies:
