Confessions of A Shirtaholic… The MMP

Plowing his heavenly field sounds more like a euphemism for sex, not death.

Mornin’. Blurf.

I’m playing in my first mafia game. It should be interesting.

Things are pretty boring; work is busy. It is Friday. Is it time to go back to bed yet?

Blargle.

Stream of consciousness post here.

I awoke to find a half inch of freaking SNOW on the ground at the Vunderlair this morning, with more coming down. We’ve been having late January-ish weather in November. A one nice one-fingered salute to the bunny huggers and their global warming bullsh!t.

Virgin no more! Yee-ha! Out of attempts to start IVs on 6 different patients last night, I succeeded on 2, and also managed to do a couple of blood draws for the very cute phlebotomist. She was a good teacher, and there’s nothing dirty minded about saying that.

There was also a cute female ER doctor, too, who was much more my age. I have a 12 hour stint again tomorrow. If I can get all my skills marked off, I’ll be done with the hospital clinicals, and have just one more ambulance shift to do.

One guy came in after being beaten with a pipe. I still haven’t figured out if it was a mugging or a gaybashing; whatever it was, he was short a watch and worked over pretty good. He went home with one hell of an inflicted headache, and it’ll get worse before it gets better.

That’s 'cause there hasn’t been enough food/recipe talk. Once we start on food, watch out!

Nice butterfly pics, Karyn! No need to stay on topic. But if you mention making food, you must provide a recipe, and if you talk about your cat, you must provide pics. And chocolate love offerings go to FCM. Those are the only rules around here.

I lost my motivation to work yesterday, and so far I’m not feeling it come back today. Anyone want to sit at my desk for the next 7 hours so I can go do other stuff? I’d really like to get some knitting done so if someone just wants to pretend to be me for the day, I’d really appreciate that. kthxby

You won’t believe my morning so far…

Unfortunately, I don’t have time to explain it right now.:dubious::smack:

That bad, or that good?

Morning, all. Blurf indeed. At least we don’t have snow on the ground – although we did have pretty big fat flakes falling for about 15 minutes. The Idiots ran out and played in it with great delight. Stoopit dogs.

Great video, Rosie! Ain’t singin’ fun?

No fair giving hints, Pie, and then leaving us curious!

You’re exactly right on topic, Karyn – and great pics! The only topic in the MMP is the OP, which then devolves* into randomness too MPS even for anywhere else in MPSIMS.

Today should be another quiet day. I hope. Papa Tigs is still holed up in his office hiding from the folks with torches and pitchforks, but the news media now knows why the order for no removable devices on DOD networks went out, so if you’re really interested you can Google it.

I just want to spend the day knitting, too, Taxi. I’m doing baby hats for Save the Children’s Knit One, Save One campaign. They’re quick, nondemanding, and adorable. Truly mindless knitting, which is what I need right now; I’ve got lots of more challenging knitting projects on the needles, but going round and round with baby hats is far more satisfying for some reason. Yes, I’m weird. What do you think, taxi, can we clone ourselves and just have someone else do our work so we can just knit?

*Do I get extra points this morning for using a fancy word?

Yay! Firday and next week I’m on vacation! So…Yay again!!!

karyn, that must be a sight to see. My DH planted some “butterfly” plants this year which turned out to be milkweed which is what the Monarch caterpillars eat. So we got to see lots of the cute black and white critters and several of the pretty green and gold chrysalises along with the butterflies.

It is starting to warm back up a bit. No snow.

Tupug

Morning everyone. Today is my RDO, so I’m home.

**Mama Tigs, **we too received the edict from on high about no thumb drives, etc. I don’t understand people that pile the abuse on the IMD/AMO folks. It’s not from them, it’s from higher up, we all know that.

Not much going on here. I need to try and make a hair appointment for my daughter and pick her up from the university today to take her to said appointment, but I think that’s about it.

Hugs and smooches to all.

They know it’s not his fault, Taters, but he’s the local representative of the evil overlords who have made the decree. They’re finally starting to leave him alone after he started talking this morning in a staff meeting about having to destroy (as in smash) shared drives if they get infected. These are people who go berserk when their computer is out of commission for 3 minutes, so it definitely got their attention. Plus the commander has supported him 100%, which is very helpful. It’s always nice when the boss backs you up instead of hanging you out to dry!

Can someone please tell me to get my ass in gear?

So, my daughter has an appointment for a haircut at 1:30. I really need to get my hair done too, but it’s just not in my budget. I need about $1500 dollars extra this month, I swear. We’ve been very good about not spending extra money, but somehow I’m short this month. Sigh…we’ll get through it. I just hate it, is all.

I guess I should get myself cleaned up now.

Yup. Too bad I didn’t think of mentioning it, one post before yours…

Oh, wait

Well…? Inquiring minds want to know. So does my mind! :stuck_out_tongue:

Give!

It’s good policy on military computers, too. I don’t understand what the rank and file are getting their panties twisted over! Military networks must be air gapped from the rest of the world, except for very limited and controlled access points. Which thumb drives are emphatically neither.

Get you ass in gear, young (at heart… You know you are!) lady!

It happens when I fire a reply before finishing the thread. I guess we’re even, since I got to Soapy first…

I dunno about you, but I’m definitely odd

I finally got birthday presents last night. I am such a dork. I got the Super Friends Batcave, the one meant for 3-8 year olds. FUN. It’s got Batman and Robin. And a cosmic rod. Honest, I swear it looks just like the one the current Starman uses. I can’t figure out what it was supposed to be. And there’s two big ole batarangs.

I also got a cute and very long haori It’s brown with daisies and even came with it’s ties (they usually don’t).

So, pretty good birthday and I need to take pictures of my Batman toys. Maybe that’ll be my Livejournal post tonight (I’m trying to post something every day).

I need to catch up on the Agonizing. My backlog wordpad file is getting full.

Obligatory link.

There’s a news release about not using flash drives? Weird. For us, there was no public news - just a silent enactment of system policy. If you plug a flash drive into a bank computer, it simply will not mount.

I can has MRI now? Good pain meds? The stuff the back doc gave me might or might not be taking the slightest of edges off the pain, but it’s like giving someone a Q-tip to drain a lake. Yes, they will absorb some water out of the lake, but there’s so much that it’s not a meaningful amount. For now, all I can do is count down the days to Tuesday when I have the MRI, then count down the days to the next Tuesday when I see the doctor again.

I am so far behind, again, but we have over the ankle snow here. This is only noteworthy because I managed to get a girlfriend to start water aerobics with me this morning, and my shoes were wet from the kids shoes dripping on them, so I wore my flip flops. Freaking brrr! The class went well, and I feel good. Six months of this and some medical tests and then surgery in the spring!

I’ll try to catch up, the last page made some intriguing comments. Until later, MMPers!

Ok, I’m back.

TVMan just feel down the steps outside.:frowning: But he’s ok. The ironic part is that they are 100% free of snow and ice but are merely wet.

And now on to the comedy from this morning. As I was pulling up to the shop this morning, the potential new snowplow guy was there. I talked to him for quite awhile and he gave me a quote. I told him that I’d have to talk to my landlord to make sure that she hadn’t made arrangements with somebody already. So, I went over to her side of the building and talked to her assistant. Landlady wasn’t in so she said that she would call and let me know when she heard from her.

About 1/2 hour later she called and told me that Landlady would not plow the lot because the liability was too great.

Now, before you start quoting to me about the law that says if you maintain a lot and somebody falls in it that you are liable but that if you don’t maintain it that you aren’t liable. I realize that is the case. HOWEVER, if the lot is not plowed and the snow is heavy enough, there’s no way to get in or out and there’s also nowhere else to park. There is no on the street parking. The ONLY place to park for our building is in our lot. HOW IN THE HELL can you not plow it?

Also, there’s a trench running through our paved lot that is about two feet wide and 8 feet long with two uncovered sewer pipes (that’s another thread altogether) and the plow guy was concerned about it because it’s a significant drop from the paved level. And, he didn’t want to do anymore damage to the plastic pipes than had already been done. There are two entrances to the parking lot, one in front of the trench, and one behind the trench. Landlady and company parks in front of the trench as per our lease agreement and GilaMonster and I park behind it. As a result, I have now instructed the plow guy to only plow about 1/2 the lot behind the trench.:dubious: GAH.

:frowning: I lost the Robin figure to my Batcave, probably when I was taking it to my car this morning. I’m hoping my mom finds it tonight.
