Confessions of A Shirtaholic… The MMP

No snow here, thank goodness. Temps are low 40s to mid 50s. The mountains are getting snow. It can stay up there.

I’ve picked my daughter up from the university and in just a bit I’ll take her to get a haircut. Well, I’m driving, she’s paying for her own haircut.

There’s still nothing exciting going on here.

Brat!

Pie- hope TVMan is ok!!!

Tyger- You Batman and Robin set you fit nicely with my Nightmare Before Christmas Figurines…

That’s all true, but doctors have a lot of unique situations – using clinic cameras, etc. A lot of it is just normal whining, but there are some genuine needs. Those, however, are being accommodated. The whiners are being told to stuff it.

Those few flakes were all the snow we’ve had thus far. There’s supposed to be more at rush hour, but fortunately Papa Tigs came home early. He’s carpooling this month while one of the members of the carpool he started and then filled up before he could arrange with his bosses to change his schedule so he could participate in it is out of town. (Did that make sense?) But one of his fellow carpoolers was going in early and leaving early for a doctor’s appointment, so he snuck out with her. No tar and feathers on him that I could find. He’s going to do the carpool again in January, and then one of the guys is looking for a new job so hopefully he’ll leave and Papa Tigs can join it permanently. Of course, this all happens when gas prices drop; when it was over $4 a gallon, he had to drive every day. It’s currently around $1.85 around here. :smack:

There was something else amusing I was going to tell you guys, but it’s completely gone. Apparently my get-up-and-go has been joined by my memory in taking a vacation today. :frowning:

Heh. Now let’s see where the landlady will park

{{Tyger}} – hope you find it!

I believe the accepted phrasing is “My get-up-and-go got up and went.”

ETA: Good night, y’all, and have a great weekend (mine is half over, already! :()

OMG. I am the most incoherent person on the planet…

Never do nothing half-assed, that’s my motto. Be a complete fool! :smack:

Howdy Y’all! Tried to post this mornin’ but couldn’t so I didn’t.

Work was.

Ima go eat jambalaya in a little while. We have an invite to dindin. YAY!

Not much else to report on.

Somehow I don’t think that would quite work out the way we’d want it to. :stuck_out_tongue:

Have you seen/done the Noro scarf that the Yarn Harlot mentions here? Those pics are so beautiful (the ones she links to in that post) that I went out and bought some Noro just so I could make one. Or two. They’re really simple so like your baby hats, I’m working pretty mindlessly, but it’s fun, and I think it’s going to be beautiful.

It’s cold here but not snowy - mid 30s. Brrrrrr
I’m taking my sweetie and my daughter out to dinner. Laterz!!!

So, you wanna translate it into English now? =^.^= At least your toys are meant for all ages - mine are designed for ickle kids. Not that I care. They’re CUTE.

I did get some Noro, but they didn’t have color combinations that I liked at my LYS, so I got three skeins of the same combination (#8) and I’m doing a multidirectional scarf with it instead. I’m thinking of trying the Noro scarf with different yarn. I haven’t decided yet, but there are other yarns with long color repeats that might work as well as the Noro, and frankly, a lot of Noro is just too scratchy for me, even after it’s been washed and softened up.

Are you slipping the first stitch of each row, like the Yarn Harlot does, or are you slipping both the first and last stitch of the second row of each strip like Brooklyntweed does? Her way is definitely easier, and I think looks nicer unless you’re really, really good at slipping stitches at the end of rows, which is a lot harder than at the beginning of rows for no known reason. Mine never, ever look right. I have no idea why.

Smarty! Since you know it all about my laptop… Why can’t I get Puppy Cam to work? Everytime that I click on it the page will show up but immediately closes and restarts internet explorer.

Apparently my vocabulary joined the parade in exiting from my brain today. :smack:

And Pie, when I want to look at Puppy Cam, I just go to Cute Overload. She’s linked to it two or three times. The most recent one is on the second page, from Nov. 16. Currently all the pups are curled up in their bed. I have wasted FAR too much time just sitting and watching those puppies!

Or just go to UStream TV and it’s on their front page.

Pickle kids?
Fickle kids?
Tickle kids?

I’d forgotten about another reason not to allow those things to be used - more than once, people have done social engineering studies where they sprinkle a few of the things around, and just wait for people to pick them up and plug them into their office PC. In these studies, there’s a harmless self-loading application on the drives that “phones home” when they’re plugged in, and just like that, the business knows who needs a refresher course on not plugging unknown things into the computer.

One more USB drive anecdote - a while ago, a security-themed company sent me a sample of their secure self-encrypting flash drive. I plugged it into my Mac at home and immediately discovered that these folks are dim. Or at least they have no idea about Macs. Their “security” on the drive was immediately cut off at the knees and I was able to just drag the encryption program into the trash, resulting in a completely normal 1 GB drive. :smack:

As you wish, Tyger:

“Your Batman and Robin set would fit nicely with my Nightmare before Christmas figurines.”

ickle kids???

Nickle?

I have grouted. Yay! Daughter is wiping down the newly-grouted tiles. I’m thinking ice cream would go good now.

I also made 4 cans of Dulce de Leche - 2 are marked for Banoffee, and the other 2 will stay in the pantry till needed.

MIL called - her youngest sister had an MRI to check out a spot on her chest wall - it’s grown since her mammogram, so they’re doing a biopsy on Tues. She’s in her 60s. All good thoughts and prayers would be gratefully appreciated.

And I understand ickle to be a cutesy way of saying little. Yes??

Anyway, ice cream beckons…

Home after another long day. But now it’s the weekend and I get to play all of tomorrow. Yay!!!

Hugs.

Oh yeah - daughter ran into her first boyfriend today. He’s a sub at her school, working on his teaching certification. He had been in pre-law and hated it, so he came back to Va to live at home and go back to school.

They were bf/gf for about 2 or 3 weeks in middle school - he was a year ahead of her, and he broke it off because he was headed for the high school.

Ah, young love…

Good thoughts and vibes sent to your family, FCM.

My HMO tracked me down and are calling me in for another ultrasound on my neck for the nodules. Here’s hoping they haven’t grown and that I don’t have to go through another needle biopsy on my throat. That wasn’t fun…at all.

I was kind of wanting to wait until January because then that stupid coinsurance payment for my health insurance would go away. Ah, well.

I better go check on chop-chop. Toodles!

I had an interesting encounter in the men’s room at Wally*World tonight (not THAT kind, Swampy).

I had to whizz, and stepped up to the open urinal. There was a kid who came up to my navel at the other one, so he must have been a second or third grader.

He asked, “What’s your name?”

“Bob. What’s your’s?”

“Darryl Rollins. But my real name is Snake Kaboolah!”

“So, is that your secret Green Beret Ninja name?”

“Yeah…” His mom called him outside.

I left to, and saw them as she manhandled him into her cart. “You take care of Snake Kaboolah there…”

“Huh?”

“He told me that was his name.” She gave him a look like boys will be boys, and he gave me the stinkeye for revealing a state secret.

VWife and I ran into them three other times and I always said, “Hey Snake.” Mom cracked up ever time.

Kids are so cute when they’re little. That story is hilarious, Bobbio.
