Ickle = little. I picked it up from Harry Potter. And my dad found Robin! He was outside in the flowerbed. Yay!
Well, I should have dinner and clean the place up so I can have fun this weekend. I’m thinking of making waffles to go with the chicken & apple sausage. I wish I had brown sugar…
I ordered expensive slippers online a few days ago. They arrived today. And they are worth every penny. I believe the sounds I made when I put them on can only be described as orgasmic (sorry, Mom). I have such happy warm toes right now!
I’ll get more pictures of her in the next day or two. I’m on my way to bed now, so no more tonight. I did get a brush, and tried it out; she liked it. I’m not surprised. I’m going to try to give her a good brushing tomorrow before I go to work.
to MamaTigs about my slippers. (They are awesome!)
Anybody who has any influence with the Snow Gods, please intervene for us! Of all the years for late snow, this is a horrible one.
Thanks, Mama Tigs… But, I can view that main page for UStream, but everytime that I click on the Puppy Cam page it immediately shuts down every internet explorer window that I have open.
Hmmm… I just downloaded Mozilla Firefox and it does the same thing there. As soon as the puppy cam page comes up, the browser window closes.:( I’m going through puppy withdrawal.
Probably a Media Player issue or codec issue–or the Media Player plug in for IE. My best suggestion is to stop using IE, because it’s a crap browser in the first place and Media Player is a pain in the ass because it’s integrated into the OS to the point where it can lock up your system for unconscionable periods of time just trying to get itself figured out. If you want to keep using IE, I’d suggest uninstalling and reinstalling Media Player–if it’s a codec issue, though, that won’t help. It could be a corrupted or missing IE plugin, it’s probably not a corrupted browser or you’d be puking on other sites than just the Puppy Cam.
If I were you, I’d go here and download and install the K-Lite Codec pack. This pack has codecs for every imaginable type of media out there, including RealPlayer and Quicktime Alternative. It also includes Media Player Classic, which is a fabulous, low overhead media player that will handle anything. It rawks. Then set your file associations so that MPC handles your media types–if you’re running Vista it’s under Control Panel > Default Programs > Set associations. If you’re running XP that’s under Folder Options.
After you’ve done that, go to Mozilla and install Firefox 3. Best browser EVAR. Install the Flash and Java and Silverlight and Adobe plugins. Also install the Adblock and Flashblock add ons so you don’t have to see ads or be devilled with crappy autoplay noises on websites. Take some time and browse the bazillions of add ons and themes available to customize the browser and help you do interesting and fun stuff–if you want some ideas on what to install, I have a buttload of favorites and will go on about them ad infinitum.
I can pretty much guarantee you that K-Lite, MPC and Firefox will make sure you never have to worry about this stuff again, and your overall browsing experience will be orders of magnitude more coolious.
**Pie–**just saw your other post that Firefox is also puking on the Puppy Cam. This is narrowing down to a codec issue or a media player issue. Install the K-Lite pack and set file associations to use MPC. If it still pukes, the next thing to check would be a display driver issue, either corrupted or set up incorrectly for your display properties. Uninstall the display driver in Device Manager, then restart–it should then reinstall the driver with the default settings. Again, make sure your display settings and resolution are correct for your laptop–they’re widescreen and the standard resolutions (800 x 600, 1024 x 768) are not correct for the wider screen of the laptop.
I’m up!!! Good luck with the Puppy-Cam issue, Pie.
Good slippers are VERY IMPORTANT. Mine were $4 on clearance at Kohl’s, but I think that was because they’re Pepto Bismol pink. Why would they think anyone would buy that color on purpose? For $4, I did. And they’re comfy and warm.
What should I bring to the football party I’m going to later? (Party is kind of overstating it; I think there are going to be 4 of us). There will be chili and cornbread and cookies. I said I’d bring an appetizer or another dessert. I was thinking no salad because whatever I bring will need to sit in the car for about 4 hours beforehand. But now I’m thinking that a salad might be just the thing after all…
I’m posting from work again. I sure hope this drawing doesn’t take very long. the program crashed twice yesterday, and I gave up and went home around 3:30. I got a lot accomplished though.
Nope, Smarty, it’s not the flash player, but thanks for all the suggestions. Actually, I’ve found that’s not the only website that won’t work. It also freezes when I try to check my email at nescape.net. I’ve been trying the microsoft fixes throughout the morning to no avail. I think it’s about time to make breakfast and I’ll try some more after that.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! I attempted to post earlier but the board was actin’ all whacked out so I gave up.
It’s a clear but coooooooooold mornin’ in south Jawja! 22 Amurrkin at seven this mornin’. BRRRRRR!!!
Anywho, I made brekkies. Ham ‘n Cheese omelettes (omelets?), grits and homemade biskits. MMMMMMMM… I made a buncha biskits cause I need some for dressin’ on Turkey Day. Yes, biskits and cornbread go in my dressin’.
I have no plans to go anywhere today. Neither does ol’ y’all know who. We had a big brekkie and if’n some lunch is desired there’s all kinds of stuff to make a sammich. Dindin will be steak, sallit and those friggin’ good N.O.T.. I foresee a day of loungin’, slackin’ and nappin’. Sounds like a plan to me! Both of us brushed our teeth and showered but didn’t shave. We be slouches!
Plus we ate like hawgs last night. Jambalya, sallit, crunchy bread and cheesecake. For the appetizer we had pate on toast points whilst sipping wine. All growed up couth and sophisticated were we!
Ok, off to check out what’s goin’ on and then back to bein’ slack.
Okay, guru says go to add-remove programs and uninstall EVERYTHING having to do with Adobe Flash. Reboot computer. THEN reinstall Flash AND install the codec pack–go back to the problem webpage and let your browser reinstall the Flash plugin. That netscape.net page is riddled with Flash, so it’s most likely that or a codec issue that’s not allowing streaming video, which the netscape page is ALSO riddled with! If this fix don’t work, you picked up a problem somewhere that’s probably gonna need more fixing. What are you running for your firewall/virus protection?
Grey and yucky looking this morning, might get better later. Bleah. Slept really well last night, though, so that’s a plus. Bear got his first experience of hanging out at the shop yesterday–he got a little hinky at the Sawzall noise and the cutting torch got a nervous twitch out of him but otherwise he thought it was fine as paint. Playing wallball with Widget didn’t hurt, and having other people coming in and out to boof at seemed to be a hit.
Best slippers I ever had were some wool sock thingies with leather soles they make in Tibet and sell at the Saturday Market. I love those things, need to go find another pair. I can’t wear anything polyester or nylon so about 95% of all slippers are a no-go for me. I wouldn’t mind finding some good sheepskin booties, though, that would be wonderful.
So, Himself had a thoroughly gruelling phone interview with the guru/wizard of the tech support company he’s been applying with–it went on for almost two hours, was conducted ostensibly in English, though I was lost from the first question and it didn’t get any better! He thought he did terribly because the guy was going for some of the most esoteric stuff imaginable, and Himself, while he knows the answers, doesn’t present them the way the guy was looking for. So imagine his suprise at the end of it all when guru/wizard approves him for three queues of support and refers him to HR for the next step. He got a call from the lady who’s been handling the tests and interviews and she said “So, I heard you did very well on the technical portion.” He was floored–he really thought he’d hosed! So he goes to the “soft skills” test person on Monday to make sure he knows not to say “fuck you” to customers, but this is looking incredibly promising.
I didn’t hear back from Comcast yet, but then again I also didn’t get one of their chilly little “screw you” postcards either, so that’s still up in the air. On the plus side, Dubya did sign the approval for extended unemployment benefits, and also the state has kicked in their extended bennies program as well, so if a job doesn’t shake loose for me at least I’ll have that to get us through to the beginning of the year. Yay! If Himself gets this job, I’ll even be able to pay back my HELOC for the money I’ve had to use from it–phew!
Then on top of everything else, my business partner put Himself in touch with a web developer/hardware-software support guy who operates out of Bend who has some business he wants to land in Portland but doesn’t have anyone here to service the contracts and he’s been romancing Himself about taking on some of his business–this is work that could still be done concurrently with a full time job and would be a nice little chunk of change on top of everything else. He’s coming into town in a couple of weeks for a face to face to finalize the deals. Himself dislikes dealing with money on any level greater than having spending cash in his pocket so I get to be the pimp and hammer out the details… I’m cool wit dat! Mama likes money just fine!
Happy Saturday all! Smarty, thank you so much for resurrecting Firefox for me; I’ve been using it the past day or so and deciding that it is so much better than IE. Re the puppycam: last time or two I tried it (this morning) they were offline and on the Today show this morning, it said the pups were moving to their adopted homes. So that may be one reason CutiePie can’t get it to work.
Swampy, you’ve made me all hungry, reading your food descriptions!! Not as hungry as I get when I read the forums at roadfood.com, though. LOL Maybe you’ll share your Thanksgiving dressing recipe though, please? Biscuits and cornbread definitely sounds like a winning combination to me. Oh and I thought it was just me that was having trouble with the board this morning … yeah, it was all SNAFUED up!
I’d better get going - I’ve got a few things to pick up at Aldi this afternoon, like cooking spray and canned milk (they’re much cheaper than the regular supermarket let me tell ya!). I just wish it wasn’t so COLD outside.
