Confirmed: Family Guy coming back!!

Yes, that evil FOX… keeping a funny and very popular show on the air… those bastards!

There probably aren’t a lot of episodes left on CN that I haven’t already seen (although I guess I’ll never see the original Road to Rhode Island, dammit dammit dammit), so this is welcome news.

I loved Futurama and felt bad that I missed so many episodes of it. I’m glad I don’t have to choose, although if I did, I guess I’d have to leave this thread and say “I’m gonna go build my own theme park, with blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the park! And forget the blackjack!”

I can’t find the link for the article on The Family Guy Archives, but in it, Seth said that, “TV’s a lot different now than when we were on before, you can say, ‘friggin’ now.” Seth’s also going to be doing another animated show for Fox called, American Dad. Supposed to be an updated All in the Family type program.

You know, considering that the reruns of Family Guy and Futurama are clobbering both Leno and Letterman in the ratings, if the folks at Fox were clever, they could finally get that late night programming that they’ve always wanted. Since the shows are expensive and take a long time to produce, Fox would be stuck with one night a week, but they could make the most of it.

Since there’s no Adult Swim on CN on Fridays, slap new episodes of Family Guy and Futurama in that timeslot on Fridays on Fox, follow it up with reruns of Firefly, The Tick (preferably rotating between the live action episodes and the animated series) and call it, “Fox’s Far Out Friday.” This enables Fox to grab a toehold in the late night segment, and the new episodes of the shows won’t be competing with the reruns on CN. Once things got rolling, Fox could fill the slots on the other week nights with repeats of cancelled Fox shows that have a cult following, or perhaps finally come up with some kind of original programming that works in that slot.

You guys do understand that you’re not marrying these shows? You’re allowed to like more than one. Personally I thought both Family Guy and Futurama were great and I’ll be happy of either or both comes back. Plus Duckman.

I love Family Guy, Futurama, and Duckman! Not so much with the later season Simpsons, though.

Another devotee of Duckman! Sweet Jesus! I’ve been TiVoing the episodes I missed in its original run. My god, what a horribly unlikable, but insanely funny, character.

I always thought Bender was saying, “I’m gonna build my own theme park! With flapjacks! And hookers! In fact, forget the park!”

It’s funnier my way, frankly. Is Bender saying blackjack, or flapjacks?

Bring back The Oblongs too dammit! I loved that cartoon.

That’s just brilliant. Why the hell aren’t you in charge of my cable programming? Oh and I agree with many of the other posters here, both shows have their great moments.

I’m not sleazy enough to work in Hollywood.

Please on FOX!

i don’t have cable…:frowning:

The first year pretty much sucked, but after that it was better, imho, than stale old Homer. Way better than Futurerama.

Rupert Murdoch or Stewie’s teddy bear?

In the return of Family Guy I am well pleased.

I heard part of an interview with Patrick Warburton (“Putty” on Seinfeld, “Joe” on Family Guy and the live action Tick) this morning. He didn’t mention anything about Family Guy returning, but he explained why Fox killed The Tick. They hated the show because they didn’t own it (nor did they own Futurama), so since “reality” shows cost almost nothing to make and the networks made bundles off the shows, they put The Tick up against Survivor so that it would die. (Warburton said that Fox deliberately killed The Tick, so I’d say that he was a bit bitter over the whole thing.)

Woah, hold the phone.

Futurama’s comming back?

That’s a “maybe.” Fox is eyeing the possibility according to Groening, but I’m willing to bet that the success of Family Guy (and if Groening agrees to do more Simpsons episodes) will be the determining factor.

Now, Stewie…what did mommy tell you about playing with those nasty trolls? Here, play with your Speak’N’Spell.

Forced to choose between FG and Futurama I’d go with FG, but would be happy to see them both continue on in good health.

And I certainly wouldn’t sneeze at more Duckman either.
