Well, I wanted to wait a bit and see if one of the others started a thread, but as you haven’t… Here it is!
The lovely couple officially tied the knot on Saturday. I didn’t get to see the actual ceremony, but I hear that it was beautiful. JavaMaven was simply gorgeous and JustPlainBryan was a total hottie in his Indian groom’s suit. The cake was a dream (made by Pastry Empress Java) and the decorations were tasteful. The rain only added atmosphere, as absolutely nothing could cloud the sunshine emanating from these two.
Honestly, I can’t tell you people how much of a help Heloise was. She did a great job with finishing all the cooking, setting up the buffet, and putting up with my new in-laws (which their behavior that day was completely Pit-worthy, but I’m still seething too much about it right now). Also, a huge load of gratitude goes to pricciar and Doobieous, that were ‘volunteered’ to help out in the kitchen.
Why, yes, I was looking pretty good that day… Oh. Wait. You meant the other chef.
This wedding certainly wouldn’t have been the same without the help from all of our friends, especially Edwardina (the Maid-Of-Honor) and CelticCowboy. Eddy was a fantastic Bridezilla handler and she certainly helped in keeping me level-headed in the midst of all the work we put into this. CelticCowboy not only helped set up and decorate everything, but saved the ceremony! We had added a handfasting to the ceremony, which requires a cord or sash to be a part of it. Thing was, I had said I would put it up at the altar before the ceremony, but I had completely forgotten it. When Eddy noticed that it was missing, she was able to do a little hand-signal to CC, and he went off running… making it back with a minute to spare, and no one noticed the difference.
I was truly honored and humbled by the display of love by our friends and (most of) our family, and it was, for the most part, a perfect wedding. At least, as perfect as a wedding could get for the both of us.
Oh, yes. One more thing… JustPlainBryan was very hot in his wedding outfit. I couldn’t have asked for a more handsome husband.
Java, if you’e suggesting you looked hot as well, we’re going to need some proof! I wouldn’t mind seeing Bryan in his Indian groom suit either. From a purely platonic perspective, of course.
So, where are the pictures, kids?
I’m glad you had such a great day! As for the small things that go wrong: I’m told every wedding needs to have one or two of those. I hope you’re able to patch things up afterward.
We’re working on getting all of the pictures developed–we had several family members and friends with their cameras, plus about a dozen disposable cameras hanging around. But, thanks to Anamorphic, here are some pictures to tide you over until then.
Oh, and I just had to say, that I am most proud of that cake, out of everything else that I did for that wedding. It looked gorgeous and tasted fabulous.
I called it my Orange Extravaganza: Buttermilk-Orange Yellow cake, brushed with Grand Marnier syrup, filled with orange curd, and frosted with a Grand Marnier buttercream, all made from scratch (ingredient count: 102 egg yolks and 7.5 pounds of butter! Yikes!). I decorated it with peach and orange roses, kumquat branches (with fruit), sprigs of fresh lavender, and purple pansies. That certainly was my pet project throughout the whole wedding planning process, and it really was a success.
