Why is it that when someone throws out a nonsensical insult to a poster in the Pit, they, or someone else, will inevitably feel compelled to justify such an insult/attack by saying, “this is the Pit”?
Some of the stuff posted in there is, to say the least, extreme. Very wicked. Very creative. I enjoy the high level of intensity there and am amused to no end…until I see the increasingly popular “this is the Pit” remark. The redundancy of it has effected me to the point of opening a thread on it.
Undoubtedly someone will do a search on “This is the Pit” and come up with 19 threads where this was posted. Admittedly, 19 threads out of over 100 hardly seems excessive, but that doesn’t stop me from rolling my eyes every time I come across it.
Yeah, yeah ,I know…if I don’t like it, stay out of the Pit. I’m not gonna do that though, because most of the content there is great, so you all will have to stop using that cliche to appease me.
The OP was indeed intended to be mundane. This isn’t something, IMO, that would warrant a legitimate rant. Just seems like a melodramatic thing to say. Guess that’s why it’s so popular.
