18 people? That’s not a party…
Wait… that’s still not a REAL party…
Okay; now that’s a party. Kinda dangerous tho, with all those people. Maybe try it on boats:

Except if lots of people have had it since March 2019, why did hospitals suddenly start filling up with cases in 2020?
Either it became a lot more virulent for some reason, or it became a lot more contagious for some reason, or it hasn’t been around since 2019. Because they weren’t stacking bodies up in borrowed reefer trucks in the streets due to overwhelmed morgues and funeral homes in 2019.
thorny_locust- I can speculate on why they are doing this, but i think that may violate the rules of this forum.
Everything new we find out about Covid-19 just keeps making things worse. Novel, indeed.
And now American Airlines and United say they are going to book their airplanes to max capacity once again. At a time when the U.S. is in a worse state than ever before.
I am not, NOT going to be flying anywhere in the foreseeable future. Jeezus!
Yeah, I saw that and this - White House halts mandatory temperature checks, symptom screening - back to back and nearly sprained my eyes rolling them. I know that time has lost all meaning, but timing should still mean something.
Ya think a newspaper article is maybe trying to be a wee bit dramatic maybe when they describe “zombie cells” with “ghoulish transformations” injecting “venom”?
Nah.
9,906,585 total cases
496,915 dead
5,357,996 recovered
In the US:
2,552,956 total cases
127,640 dead
1,068,703 recovered
Yesterday’s numbers for comparison:
Another record day of new cases for both the planet in general and the US in particular.
Worldwide total cases will easily top 10,000,000 and deaths will rise above 500,000 tomorrow.
Just gets better and better.
This one isn’t quite so sensational as the LA Times link. Still pretty awful.
Worldwide total cases just went over 10,000,000.
ETA: More than 25% of all cases right now are in the US.
I’m getting pretty tired of winning. Aren’t you?
Not sure if this is the right place to post…
Wow. I just got an Emergency Alert on my cell phone (like an Amber alert-- same voice) telling me that COVID cases are increasing in Bexar County (San Antonio) and to stay home, wear a mask, etc. @JohnT did you get one? I’ve never gotten that kind of alert except for a tornado warning or something.
That’s the one! I’m hoping it will prompt some people to pull their heads out of their butts and take this seriously.
I got it also. The San Antonio govt website that the warning directs you to doesn’t load for me, though. Not sure if they are swamped or what.
It’s a great way of reaching everyone at once. A bit scary, too, which is exactly what’s needed.
I hope it works. We are in dire straits if hospitals get overloaded. I didn’t know the emergency alert thing worked like that for local warnings besides weather and Amber Alerts.
I’ve never seen it used that way before.
