Okay, I’m halfway through watching ABC’s encore showing of this. This is crap. Not just regular crap, but sad crap. The only noncrap think I’ve seen so far is that hot guy in his boxers Courteney Cox had sex with. Oh and the actor playing the son (Collier Sims from Any Day Now) is cute. Sad, sad, crappy, crap.
I watched both Modern Family and Cougar Town. The first was getting great reviews and Cougar Town was getting slammed.
But I hated Modern Family and liked Cougar Town much more than I expected.
They’re both about the comedy of embarrassment and parents driving their kids crazy. The difference is that Courtney Cox is self-aware. She may embarrass her kid but she’ll try to avoid it. The parents in Modern Family have no self-awareness at all and think they’re cool. Instead they turn out to be idiot stereotypes that are supposed to be modern but have already been driven into the ground. Cougars are a stereotype, too, but a knowing stereotype is a different animal.

Cougar Town wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. I’m definitely going to watch more of it. However, I don’t think it will last past the season.
I didn’t hate it and I’ll give it another shot. It had its moments.
I was expecting to hate Cougartown but my husband, after seeing promos with sexy 40-somethings acting fresh, had to watch it. I was pleasantly surprised that I did not want to climb into the TV and punch Courtney Arquette in the throat. I even laughed out loud more than once.
What hooked me in the end was that they let Ms Cougar have her immoral fun. No network TV-type righteousness at the end.
I’m still holding out for NBC’s MILF Island.
Not sure if this thread qualifies as a zombie, but – and I can’t believe I’m saying this – I was going to start a thread on this show if there wan’t already one.
The premise sounded slightly less pleasant than a 4-hour root canal, but I watched it because my wife wanted to, and so help me, I like it.
It’s silly, a little bit surreal, and actually pretty funny most of the time.
Anybody still watching?
I shotgunned the entire season recently. It’s a decent show and I think fans of Scrubs will like it. Christa Miller and Bill Lawrence brought over some of the vibe.
Has Courtney Cox gained any weight? She was looking awfully skinny last time I paid any attention to her. Scary skinny.

Looks OK to me. Wouldn’t hurt her to gain a few kilos, but I don’t think she’d scare anyone.
