I’m pretty sure “pest” is pretty high up a cat’s list of duties.
My husband would agree with you. I’d argue for an exception for craft stores and such, to allow lead time to make a project.

Howdy Y’all! I have accomplished much today. Bug man came and went, I went to the sto’ and the liberry. I decided on peas 'n butterbeans with okra and smashed N.O.T. as sides for dindin. Gravy 'n smashed N.O.T. YUM! Oh and I shall make some cornbread muffins, the savory kind. Plus the kitchen and bathrooms are clean. Go Me!
Christmas begins with Mass on Christmas Eve and goes until Epiphany. Just as Easter begins on Easter Sunday and goes until Pentecost Sunday. No other exceptions may be made.
This is not the picture, but was taken within 2-3 mins of the winner, which means the sky was similar. I like how you can see the fuzzys on the left side of the jacket & a wisp of hair on the right. Believe it or not, that is a bright orange hunting jacket.
No, I wouldn’t want someone sittin’ around at the horsepistol when I feel all ick.
Swampy, Sylvester was at your house this mornin’? Wuz you holding a seance as I’m pretty sure he’s daid.
Christmas season begins the weekend after Thanksgiving and goes until I’m tired of looking at my tree.
I think **Mom ** actually has three husbands. Her regular husband (FCD), her emergency backup husband (‘sweetie’), and her robotic husband (‘the spousal unit’). In fact, considering how much she (says she) gets done in the mornings, rumor has it that she’s actually three women herownself.
Speaking of Mom and her hospitalized sister, from what I’ve heard, if there’s anybody who shouldn’t be left without adult supervision, it’s FairyChatSister, especially in a place where there are sharp pointy things.
You know I’m just kidding doncha Mom?
Baker, I hope your Mom gets to come home soon.
Midget, kayaks are fun and don’t take up too much space.
Seriously, I hope everybody stays safe from the floods.
Also hope Sah-pup is doing well.
The major event around Castle Bumba these days is the (natural gas) furnace quit working yesterday. I determined that the igniter wasn’t igniting and everything else was doing what it was supposed to, but that’s where my expertise ends. Today I’ll be sitting around waiting for the furnace guy to come and fix things. Good times.
I replaced the furnace filters a couple of months ago. That’s gotta be why.
At least it’s not the dead of winter. It got down into the 40s last night, but that’s the extent of it.
I actually have a little tiny bit of talent, but not much any more. I can still knock out a recognizable painting iffen I have to, but for me, it’s work. I haven’t really painted anything (except the occasional wall, or stuff to go on a train layout) for almost 40 years. Wifey got into pastels a couple of years ago and has been urging me to get back to it, and I think I may this year. Maybe I can be an eccentric old artist? :dubious:
Well this is damn confusing.
Glad you called a guy. Spidey, Dogbutt, if this happens to you, light a match.
You’re dangerously close to the truth…:dubious:
Almost quitting time! YAY!!
Big Giant Green Moanday Blurf
Dindin has been ingested and the kitchen is cleanded. This was the first for real home cooked meal OYKW has had in almost a month. I think he’s glad I’m back. Speakin’ of, he will be leavin’ on Thursday to go see his mom and family and be gone I think all of next week. Or most of it, I can’t remember right now and he’s gone to a meetin’ thingy for irk.
In other news, tomorrow I am goin’ terlet shoppin’. Envy me! I feel it’s time to get a new one in the master bathroom. I want a high boy this time. I shall scope out Home Despot, S’Lowe’s, and a couple local places that sell bathroom fixtures. Fun times ahead!
Swampy high boys are key with the OVAL bowls, not the little, itty bitty round bowls.
Just stopping in to say that my diagnosis is colitis, which is a swelling of the colon. It hurts and causes all the other symptoms. One of the remedies is not to eat (so nothing goes through the colon), I am tired as well. I’m seeing a specialist tomorrow. Other than, I am spending most of the day sleeping.
Hugs distributed as needed.
FCM, in my family one never goes in for any kind of procedure involving anesthesia without having at least one family member with them. That’s a good thing in my case.
The night I went to the ER with(as it turned out) kidney stones I finally got painkillers and was feeling very…pliable. Demerol in the IV makes you understand how people get hooked on painkillers. Anyway, one of the nurses in charge came in and told me about fixing me up with a local urologist. My mom, a retired RN, knew the guy and said “You are not taking him!” I replied “MOm, if they thing I should take him…” and she repeated sternly “YOU ARE NOT TAKING HIM!” So they fixed me up with another urologist, I saw him for years, and really liked him. Mom didn’t think “Dr. S” was incompetent, but she didn’t like his attitude with the residents at her former workplace, a home for retarded young people. She said he didn’t seem to think he had to expend kindly bedside manner with them.
Well, the furnace guy has come, and went to get a new part. It was, as I suspected, the igniter. And of course he didn’t have one with him. So he said he’d be back within the hour with a new one. Just over $200 it will be. Ouch!
Swampy, we put in a taller terlit years ago. We likes 'em. In fact we have 2 of them now. Not in the same bathroom. That would be weird.
They make one now that has a remote control thingy, and a little doggie fountain that comes out and squirts when you touch the seat just right. I’d be careful with that one if I was you.
I hear ya on the smashed N.O.T.s and gravy. We had pork chops Satidday and made smashed N.O.T.s and pork gravy. Yum! I ate the leftovers for lunch today.
Went to the new dentist this morning. We agreed on an implant to replace my bad tooth. There isn’t enough left of it to be stable. The implant is gonna cost $3300 to $3500 dollars! They’re gonna call and see if Medicare or my supplemental insurance will cover any of it. They don’t cover regular dental stuff at all. At least Medicare et. al. will cover my cataract surgery, unless certain people manage to screw that up for me this summer.
Sunny, Ouch! Hope the specialist has good news for you tomorrow.
I hear ya about the drugs Baker, When I had my heart attack they gave me morphine. It was wonderful.
This is the quartet we went to see last night.
Your terlet shopping is done*. You’re welcome!
*However, you may wish to be like Mooommm & unretire for a year or two to pay for it.
For this the Doctor’s Parents paid money to send him/her to school, and bought textbooks?
{{{Sunny}}} at least now there’s a diagnosis. I’m sure the specialist has ideas other than not eatin’.
Spidey how could you even think I’d go for a terlet so plebian as that!
CupCakes at first I read that as the nurse was tryin’ to match you up with an eligible urologist. Then I pictured your mom as sayin’ you would not settle for less than a surgeon. I amuse myself so!
Some homeowners affected by the flood are in fact using boats to get around and check on their houses.
baker, I’m glad your mama is doing better.
spidey, while the other twelve photos are displayed for a month each, the cover pic sells them.
I’m a bit like wabbit when in the horsepistol. Make an appearance when I go in and when you pick me up and visit once a day. That gives me more time to go about the business of recouperating.
doggio, you have a Preds jersey?
Yay on returning to irk (I think) nettie!
To answer the OP, I’ve won the usual ribbons for entries at the county fair, both in my 4H days and as an adult with various art and craft projects. I’ve also won best costume a couple of times at halloween parties and a couple of writing awards in school. My vocal ensemble won a silver in the state contest in high school and our band (of which I was part) took a bronze at state.
I got the tooth redone this morning. I came home and did a load of laundry and vaccuumed. I began selecting pictures for a project that will be interspaced with a volunteer project that I’ll spend a few weeks on this summer. Between that and taking care of the 'mater plants, I should manage to keep out of trouble.
Yeah, I have pretty mixed feelings. At least I’ll be doing customer service on this project, which is a much better fit for me in personality terms.
I don’t want anyone in the hospital with me. Stay away. Ask me via text if I need any supplies, if the answer is yes, bring them and leave within 15 minutes.
I had morphine once, it was a lovely experience.
Once when I was in the hospital, nobody came to see me. I think the nurses felt sorry for me but I am pretty okay with it.
Swampy - I agree with a higher seat
Many, many, many years ago the HFH bought a house that had been custom built. It had an Italian toilet; it was so low to the ground you thought you were going to fall when you tried to sit on it. To flush it you had to press a little button on the side of the tank. From what I understand it was a very expensive toilet.
The pup is perkier, but he hasn’t eaten all day. He went outside for a bit but I think it was too chilly for him. I had to help him up the step but he did pretty well.
Nettie - it they were handing out prizes for being a pest, Adam would get first place for sure.
{{{Sunny}}} sounds ouchie
