That is WAY cool, gotti. How fast is your camera?
Wow!! Love the loop!
I started going to taijitsu again and I’m sore! We didn’t even do that much, but my hip hurts and my right hand hurts from where my partner hit the target out of my hand.
I stayed home yesterday and didn’t get as much done as I wanted, but did do a fair amount. Got my portfolio looking right. I’m going to get a couple more pieces up tonight and if I keep doing that it should be good in about a week.
I’m looking forward to Sunday - I’m taking my first kimono-dressing class. It’s like a private lesson and only $20! I’ll probably take the teacher out to lunch as well.
We have a house! We have a house!
It is a nice house, nice area and kinda half way between where mr ems will be working and where I will be working. Not my first choice but still OK. We are just pleased we have something as I really didn’t want to buy as we have to sink so much into buying our way out of CA. Now I am waiting on the lease being e-mailed so I can get it signed then run to Walmart and get the money orders for the deposit as there is no bank branch here for our Bank.

It’s a DSLR with essentially no shutter lag, and it can fire off something like 3.5 shots per second. The shot itself was f/4 at 1/60 and ISO 400.
Woah, that bolt looks awfully close. Did you consciously snap the picture or was it a reaction to the boomer?
We got between 1.5 and 1.75 inches today over a 7 hour span. Heaven sent, I tells ya.
gotti way cool! Skeery I’m sure but nonetheless
Yay for havin’ a house mmmmmms! I’m so happy you and the Mr. won’t be livin’ under an underpass in OKC.
Home from irk a little early just cause. My driver’s license came in the mail today. Only took seven days. Wow! I ordered it on teh intartoobz. That was for donkeybear. It has this weird orangish tent and the picture is way bigger than on my old license.
This evenin’ OYKW and I are goin’ over to JDD’s and Partner’s place to help them empty out a storage buildin’ that is bein’ torn down this Sattidy. We’re goin’ to load up their lawn mowers (two push mowers) and bring ‘em over to da cave so they can be put into one of my storage buildin’s until they get a new one up. The old storage buildin’ is in sad shape and apparently the insurance company told ‘em (well told JDD cause it’s his house) the house insurance would be dropped unless they got rid of that buildin’. It’s gettin’ replaced with a metal storage buildin’ but that’ll be a couple weeks. Anywho, since we’re nice dammit we’re goin’ to help. We will get pizza and beerverages out of the deal so there’s that.
Ok, off to do ummm… sump’n or other.
Later Y’all!
It’s official. The paperwork authorizing my retirement incentive pay has been signed. Five weeks from Friday will be my last day. Yoiks!! Now I’ve just got to figure out the insurance stuff. It looks like AAA has a really good deal on term insurance, but I’m going to check USAA also. We need to decide how much to carry - essentially this is buryin’ money, and since I intend for my leavin’s to go to a med school, it’ll just be party money.
**FCD **is taking the rest of the week off, which is good. He needs a break. I’ll be off tomorrow, and if we close on our refi on Friday, I’ll be leaving the office early then. Party at my mom’s on Sunday. It’s gonna be quite a week…
As for Red Robin, I like it fine. Definitely better than fast food, and considering how much we get, I don’t think it’s overpriced, either. So you poopyheads don’t have to hold your breath waiting for an invite from me. And, frankly, I think their burgers are much better than the ones at a local diner, and they only cost a coupla bucks more. So there.
Tuna steak for supper, I think. Plus we have to pick up the Miata at the shop - it needed brakes, among other things. Another $400 out the door…

The boom comes after the bolt.
How the lightning was happening last night was the sky would start to light up, and then there’d be a strike. I just had the camera pointed at the sky and when it started to light up, I’d just press and hold the shutter and hope that a strike happened in front of me. I probably took 350 utterly blank and black shots last night. I only had 7 shots that had any amount of lightning in them and most of that was either just barely in frame or really faint.
This would have been painfully expensive to do with film.
And now, off to cook a salmon for dinner.
Hooray for digital cameras!
Thanks swampy for being concerned over us not sleeping under a bridge. I had the cardboard box and news papers at the ready though!
Man July is turning into a really really expensive month so far we have:
[ul]
[li]regular mortgage payment[/li][li]temp living apartment rent[/li][li]deposit on the new digs[/li][li]prorated rent (property available July 10th) which we had to pay in order to get the house even though we are not moving until August[/li][/ul]
Ouch! We really need to get our house on the market but the relo are draggin their feet…fun fun!
Home from bein’ a good deed bear and from Evening Prayer even. Turned out unloadin’ the storage buildin’ was not as bad as I thought. Tools and lawn mowers are all safely stowed in a storage buildin’ here at chez swamp. Other stuff will be hauled off as it was decided it was junque. So at about a quarter of six I decided to jump in the shower, get presentably dressed and head on over to Evenin’ Prayer.
Hark! I hear rain! YAY!!!
Ima go surf for a few minutes and then I’m goin’ beddy bye. I’s tahrd!
Nitey Nite Y’all!
mmmmmms Hooray for houses! (or in this case, house [singular].)
gotti neat picture! Have you ever thought about setting up one of those rigs that senses a sufficiently bright light and snaps a pic to take lightning pics? I read about them on the internets some time ago, back when I both had a DSLR and was interested in photography, but like so many of my plans, never got around to it.
swampy [general lewd comment] ::leer::
Tonight was standard support group meeting, then went out to dinner with a few of the guys. Have I ever mentioned how much I love dirty old men? Anyway, was apparently not as hungry as I thought, because I only was able to shovel two slices of pizza down my gullet before i was full. And it was even thin crust! Also managed to put the queer in two-beer-queer, or is that the two in two-beer-queer?
Anyway, it is absolutely a beayooootiful night here, kinda humid but only 82 degrees. Gonna hang out on the porch a bit and… compute? Then pass out somewhere. Don’t have any beer cold in the house or I’d trick The Roommate into drinking a couple with me. Popsicles it is!
Also, because I’m such a helpful Harry, I accepted my boss’ request to come in at 6:45 tomorrow to work my least favorite shift in the whole universe. Yearly eval is coming up, dontchaknow. :dubious::D:rolleyes:
Actually, I’m sorry, y’all. I misspoke. See, when I said I wasn’t going to have any beer, I forgot that there was some limoncello in the freezer, some vodka in the cabinet, and some lemonade in the fridge. ::smacks lips::
Gigablurf.
Whilst fighting a Trojan Horse on VWife’s computer that hijacked her e-mail, I got a call on my cellphone from some guy with an Indian accent so thick he was almost unintelligible. After several "Pardon?"s and repeats, I gathered he was asking if I was in the job market.
[extremely thick accent]“What would it take for you to change positions?”[/ETA]
Me:“A job where they speak English.” :smack: and
Brekkified and caffeinating. Carry on.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN 'Tis 72 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of only 92 and a sixty percent chance of rain! We shall see. I need to mow da yahd as the grass has suddenly shot up about 50 feet overnight. This means it should rain.
donkeybear [general lewd comment] ::leer::: backatcha. Let’s hope you didn’t get too much into that vodka what with the early irk time and all.
Hope you got the virus thing all fixed up BBBobbio. Hee about the “job offer.”
Ok, I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence. Don’t wanna! Plus gotta go do that meet with the Bishop thing tonight. Also don’t wanna! However I shall to both, alas.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Up on my day sorta off - dentist appt at 9:30. I let Scruffy out when she barked at 5, went back to sleep, then woke to her barking at 6:45. I was deep in REM sleep, so I’m still kinda foggy now. Stoopit dog. She’s going to make retirement very unpleasant!
Speaking of retirement, *someone *in this household is driving me crazy, constantly asking me if I’ll be OK. I do appreciate the concern, but I’m not crying about this, and I’m actually looking forward to it. I know it’s going to be a change - a HUGE change - but the fact that I haven’t filled the calendar with “To-Do” notes doesn’t mean I don’t have plans. At this point, I just want nebulous plans - like work in the yard, steam clean the love seat, sort papers, maybe take a class - THAT’S the kinds of plans I’m thinking.
As for taking a class, since I won’t be working, I can take the final ceramics class during the day like a normal person. I need to see if the college has their fall schedule up yet.
Other than dentisting, I’m not sure what today will hold. Indecision is the key to flexibility, you know.
Cool pic.
I’m up, caffeinated, and have walked 210lbs of assorted dogs. I need to hit Kroger on the way home from work, I’m out of everything but tequila, TP, and barley pops.
Congrats on the house, mmmmmmmmm! sucks about the bills, though.
Yay for retirement, FCM! I might donate my body to Ripley’s Believe it or Not.
Good morning!
I got nuthin’…
I’ve been working for 10 years, FCM, is that enough to retire? Sounds like a blast, except now you won’t have any excuse to put off all the work at home that needs done
Last night’s indulgence wasn’t too bad. Took my Ambien, then my mother called, then we talked for 45 minutes and she cried the entire time, because I don’t talk to my dad after his escalating disrespect and threats of violence sent about The Roommate (sent to my phone, as if to have me relay them). She’s transgender, and that’s something that both confuses and infuriates my dad, and he refuses to listen to reason. Somehow a fight between two other people involves me and my mother. ::sigh::
But I’m off to breakfast! The fabulous part about this shift that I hate so much is the arbitrary length break between 7:30 and 9, the arbitrary length break between end of batch (for me around 10) and noon, then lunch at noon, then nothing from 2 to 3:15.
I mean, it’s all of 3 or 4 hours of actual work a day, but the clean room is just ugh.
