Crafty Dopers, what are you working on?

I’d be curious to see some manly jewelry. I’ve often wished I could come up with something appropriate for a man, but unless he’s a surfer type – I’ve done a couple of knotted hemp necklaces – I’ve always been stumped.

I started with fire-colored and hammered bracelet with a leather thongy strap but that strap looked too delicate and the fired copper to brightly colored.
Would adding a braid macho it up a bit? Yeah, like a braid ever made anything more manly. Except I think it did here.
But that stlll left the fire-coloring looking very pretty. Even with the hammering. So I tired some form folding and this time I used a boiled egg to patina the copper. More rugged?

Lastly I made another form-folded copper piece. I’m trying to oxidize it into having spots of blue/green with salt and Windex (with ammonia). But this is taking longer than the eggs and the fire. I might leave it in the baggy with the salt and Windex overnight. I’m sure it isn’t helping that I’m very impatient and keep checking every hour.

So. are they manly?

If you made it, share it!

I’m interested in seeing anything that people have made. Big, little, fiber, wood, metal. I love seeing stuff people have made.

Biggirl I think all of those are pretty manly. I actually like the second one the best but I suspect the folded one is better looking in person. Did the one you “Windexed” get done yet?

Not yet. Waiting until I get home for the big reveal. I think I’m going to be disappointed because I think I need straight up ammonia and not whatever Ammonia-D is that is in the Windex.

Still, I hold out hope!

Aw, there was only pinpoint spots of bluing. I’m gonna do it again, only this time with more salt.

OK, let’s try this again…
Crayon batik
Alcohol inks on tile

Still takes me to the sign in screen. I even copy and pasted your link-- it redirects to the sign in. Anyone else having this problem or just me?

Me too.

Well, shite! It was working when I pasted it before I left this morning. And now it’s not. I’ll try it again and promise it will be the last wild goose chase. I’m wondering if it’s some security issue. I’ll try just posting one pic at a time…

Of course it could be my crazy ninja computing skillz…

ETA: It’s working now, at least for me…

Nope, still sign-in page for me.

Monstro, those are cute little pots!

I love seeing all the crafty stuff on here. I’m jealous of all the knitters especially.

I’m posting a link to the jewelry I’ve done so far here. I’m moving on to experimenting with wire when I get the time. There are little prices but ignore those, not trying to peddle anything to y’all. Just trying to think of what good prices would be if I ever chose to sell them.

Sorry people. I know what a pain it is to keep clicking bad links…

Any suggestions on another picture hosting site?

I put mine on Photobucket.

I love seeing everyone else’s stuff, and now I finally have something to share!

This is a piece in progress – freeform beadweaving. The focal element is a piece of Fenton carnival glass brokenware with a beadwoven bezel.

nikonikosuru, love your polymer clay stuff! We should collaborate!

Oh my goodness yesssss!

freckafree, that is gorgeous!

http://s62.photobucket.com/user/Sehmket/library/Facebook/iOS%20Photos are my more recent craft project, mostly woodworking these days. I just tore apart and sanded a pallet. Was planning on making cornhole boards from them, but… I think they’re too warped to do so. I’m feeling a little broke right now, but I think I might spend my day off this week scouring Craigslist and Habitat for Humanity for a new project or some more scrap wood.

ETA: I fail at HTML today, apparently. Just edited this three times. I’m giving up.

It’s not the coding that’s making me sad. It’s that the album is private! Change to public so we can see. I’m nosy! I wanna see it!
