The vet is usually open Saturdays. Occasionally they take a Saturday off. Of COURSE it had to be this one. Creamsicle has been lethargic since Friday. Her temperature seems to be elevated. We haven’t seen her use the litter box, but she’s indoor/outdoor so she may have been going outside. She’s not eating dry food. She’s eaten more of the we food we give her than she normally does, but she also will only take a few licks and walk away. She hadn’t been drinking as much as usual. She’s taken to hiding under a cabinet. She doesn’t feel bloated, and she doesn’t appear to be in pain. It’s like she ‘just doesn’t feel well’. Chris (the vet) will keep her and check her out in a bit. I was told to call back and check on her later this morning or early this afternoon.
Best of luck to Creamsicle.
Both our dogs are currently being treated for kennel cough. Hopefully it’s something minor like that.
Oh no. I hope she’s ok. Best wishes to her.
I sure hope she is feeling better very soon. I know how it worries me when one of our dogs isn’t feeling well. Hopefully, the vet says it was just something minor.
Feel better, Creamsicle.
Could be a bad tooth. Cats will not eat if they have a bad tooth. Its kinda rarish, though. Good luck, let us know.
Something similar happened with our kitty, Smokey. Turns out she had a virus that caused inflammation of her gums. She had to have several teeth pulled, but then she was right as rain.
I hope it’s nothing serious for Creamsicle.
Just got off the phone with the vet. Creamsicle’s temperature is low, 98-point-something. The vet didn’t see anything obvious. She gave her sub-q fluids twice, and Creamsicle hasn’t urinated yet. She’s going to keep her overnight, and have blood work done in the morning.
Oh – No sores in the mouth, no jaundice… As I said, nothing obvious. Creamsicle is down to seven pounds, which is concerning because she normally weighs nine and a quarter or nine and a half.
Has the vet done any blood work?
Keeping fingers and paws crossed for her. Hopefully the blood tests reveal what’s wrong and it can be treated.
Oooh, I hope the little kitty is alright. Try not to worry…
Fingers crossed! I hope it’s nothing serious.

How old is Creamsicle? Here’s hoping she gets well soon. I just got my dog back from the vet, he’s had a bad ear infection. It was kind of like your cat, he didn’t appear too bad, then I saw the ears.
I’ll remember Creamsicle when I do my prayers tonight. I always give thanks for having my dog and cat, so your baby should fit right in.
The vet said Creamsicle’s heart and lungs sound strong. She didn’t give us a diagnosis. If Creamsicle isn’t urinating, I’m worried it might be kidney failure. When we talked to the vet, she said that Creamsicle was in the corner of her kennel. She doesn’t protest when the vet reaches for her, but it’s like she’s trying to hide. The vet will give her liquid food today to see if she keeps it down.
Tonka seems like he’s looking for her.
Creamsicle came to us almost four years ago. The vet said she was two or three at the time.
Thank you.
When my cats have gone into the kidney failure, the symptoms were different. They started drinking a lot more (a lot). As they got sicker, they started vomiting frequently and lost interest in food. They went and hid in a secluded spot, and were very weak.
She’s seeking shelter, but she’s also interested in food. You didn’t mention vomiting, which I think is a good sign. It could be a dental problem if she’s interested in the soft food, but not the dry, or something stuck in her throat. As far as urination goes, she may just not like the environment or the litter box and will hold it as long as possible. I had one cat who held it for 36 hours or so and then expressed her displeasure at the situation by climbing on my daughter’s bed and letting go. Cats can hold a lot it turns out. I had to throw that mattress out.
I’m not saying she’s not sick. I’m just pointing out that there are a lot of possibilities. If your vet didn’t take blood work, I would definitely request it.
She vomited Friday morning. It was white and foamy with no ‘substance’. Basically it looked like stomach fluid. The vet didn’t find any sores in her mouth. I assume she checked her teeth.
I think she’ll have the blood work back in the morning.
The fuzzers and I are hoping for good news.
Yeah, I know the feeling.
One of our cats (Pippin, 18 months old) was off his food and lethargic end of last week. My wife took him to the vet, where he had a fever and was dehydrated, so was given IV fluids and a long-acting antibiotic shot.
It’s taken a couple of days, but he is back to his usual self.
Best of luck to Creamsickle. I’m sure Tonka is looking for her. Give him some extra scritches or snacks.
