Creatures of Habit in the MMP

I has a sad. Our little house, where we just had the nice new floor put in the basement, has a defunct oil-fired floor furnace in the living room floor. ('Cause I can’t figure out what’s holding it in there.) It had part of the flue pipe sticking out the side that I couldn’t for the life of me, get out of there. I pulled on it and twisted it and did everything I could before we had the floor poured, and it wouldn’t budge. Well, yesterday I walked past it and touched it, gently, and it fell out, spraying nasty black soot all over about 20 square feet of my beautiful new gray floor. :rage: I shop-vacced as much as I could get up, but it still looks like crap. :sob:

I know that doesn’t even begin to compare to what some of you are going through, and I’m sorry. I just wanted you to know that the universe hasn’t forgotten me and is just saying “I’ll get around to you again soon.”

Happy Firday to them as needs it.

I’m killing time while waiting for the polish to dry. I only removed the old stuff in the kitchen because the rest didn’t need it, but I applied more polish all over, so I’m stuck in the carpeted living room while it dries. Then I’m going to get ready to walk to the store. I don’t need that much, but I feel like poking around in the produce department.

Were you fully clothed when you tried it out? I wouldn’t pry, but this is apparently Mumpers Gone Wild Week, and apparently someone’s got to feign delicate sensibilities. I’d clutch my pearls, but I’ve got the vapors. [*Fans self with *Cotillion Weekly.**]

:knock wood: I may have turned a little bit of a corner. I got a 2 hour nap in this afternoon without waking myself up coughing once. The chloraseptic seems to be doing its thing in making my throat less itchy. The only time that I’m coughing now is when something needs to come up (TMI, I know). With any luck, I can manage to keep this up all night and be ready to go back to irk Monday.

I have Chinese food being delivered in about an hour, so no cooking tonight.

Lesson learned. Big tomcats learn quick, too. No pill for Caelan this evening. No way! So tomorrow morning I’m going to grind up his half-pill dose and load it into the syringe with the antibiotics. Then just hold him down until I can squirt the stuff down his throat.

Dinner was Friday Stuff, which means mac & cheese with chopped hot dogs. Hawt cewzine.

I had an appointment with our money guy this afternoon and moved my 401k from the company plan to an individual plan. I had a CT scan yesterday and have a meeting scheduled with the vascular surgeon Tuesday afternoon to evaluate the scan and decide between the two repair options. It stayed in the 30s all day today. We have a forcast for 5 inches of snow for Sunday.

Evening all. A small front moved through this afternoon and caused the Nervous Nellies (not you nellie) at the Parks to close the fields. Front passed over with minimal rain and bright sunshine so they opened the parks back up too late to get the kids out…we’ll see what they do tomorrow with the games.

While looking at You Tubes (Ozzy Man Reviews is great), a spider came rappelling down about 12 inches in front of my face. Spider has been dispatched to spider heaven, but now everytime I walk into a room I’m scanning the ceiling…

Red, glad you’re feeling better.

Bumba, hope the cleanup goes well…seems to be the week for it.

Sari, enjoy the tub. I often say that a shower is just a shower, but a nice hot bath is a Soak…

Love it. FCM’s could be “Keeping Roxy entertained” and doggio’s would be “Hijinks with the Amazons…”

All y’all take care. Have to check some more ceilings…

Sorry about your pretty new floor @Bumbazine

Thank you for a much-needed belly laugh.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to sort. then Second Sort. Then it’s my Firday! :grinning:

Dear Plumbing Fixtures Monthly, I’d never thought I’d be writing one of these letters…

Sheesh - even on Saturday (not that it matters to a retiree) I wake stupid early. I tried to go back to sleep, but no, 'twasn’t to be. So I’m breakfasting, having tended to the critters. Once it’s light out (or a little later than dawn) I’ll walk, then start the day’s to-do list.

  1. Tidy the baby’s room
  2. Move everything from guest room to baby’s room
  3. Vacuum and steam clean guest room carpet
  4. Start hanging pictures
  5. Clean bed frame that will go in guest room
  6. Go look at dresser that we might buy for the guest room
  7. Other stuff as necessary

We need to replace the wheels on the mulcher/vac - the tires won’t hold air and I’d prefer having the kind that don’t need air. So we have to measure them and head to Tractor Supply. The leaves are getting thick in the yard and I need to get ahead of them - I think that’ll be Moanday’s chore. Because chores never end.

pose of woe and exhaustion

Happy Saturday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 65 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 83 with rain/tstorms/apocalypse predicted later this mornin’ and throughout the day. There appears to be a big band of red and green headed this way from Alabammy. We shall see. Obviously this is a good day to be inside and dry. We shall sloth about I imagine. Sup shall be burgers 'n fixin’s and fries just cause.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

Morning. Up early for soccer starting at 8:30am, but there is rain in the area so don’t know if we’ll have it or not.

All y’all have a good Sattiday. I need to get into the proper coaches’ clothing now.

Chilly, but the rain is gone. Tired, but I have the next 3 days off … and a rat buyer (or rather, her transport) with a BIG order scheduled for Monday.

I’m happy about that since a couple of groups have gotten overcrowded, and since she pre-paid already.

Just gotta get through today first. Yesterday was damn busy, half the town was blowing their payday on weed, it seemed like.

Yesterday I made a teriyaki sauce which is then used for a copy cat recipe for Red Robin’s Banzai Burger.

Today we grilled the burgers, which made quite a mess. The overall result was positive, but next time I’m cooking them on the stove.

I think I’ll try a different copy cat recipe. The first one I tried was acceptable, but not fantastic.

Also scrubbed the moss off the front patio. It’s on the north side and doesn’t get that much sun. Probably it should get cleaned more often, but twice a year is what it normally gets. If next Saturday’s weather is like today’s, I might do another round of scrubbing. Other than that, there’s not much more we have to do outside, until some more leaves fall.

Made carrot cake yesterday and took it to a friend’s place for dessert, so I’ll probably make another one tomorrow with a different recipe just for the two of us. I have 3 or 4 recipes and never remember which one I like best.

Happy Saturday!

Afternoon, mumpers! Friday night was pizza, cocktails and film night, thus it was a late start to Saturday morning. Mine began with a restorative cup of tea or two, then the decision to take myself back to the horsepistol to see the eye folks again. Poorly peeper is still very poorly, the eye nurse looked at it and said the doc should look at it too so I had to wait a bit longer for her. She tells me the ulcer (still massive and only a bit raging now) has partially healed but not completely which is why the watering and light sensitivity hasn’t decreased much. She prescribed new (stronger) drops for the next three weeks and a follow-up phone call in 14 days.

It’s the weekend, the eye infirmary’s little pharmacy is shut so I had to traipse miles round the site to get to the main pharmacy which is off a corridor, round a car park, up and down a ramp, round the corner and tucked away on the edge of a building site. Picked up new meds and managed to find my way back to the car park so I could get myself home. Then as I was about to leave, the car park barrier locked itself so I got to sit and wait for a while as the air ambulance was landing just up the road outside A&E. Once the whirlybird had taken off again, barrier still didn’t open so I buzzed the buzzer thing and had a nice chat with the security bloke. Barrier did it’s thing, and I was on my way home.

Today shall be dedicated to slothage since my eye hurts and I Don Twanna. It is, however, my turn to provide dinner tonight so I shall be making a very simple chicken curry as I am not in the mood to stare at recipes for too long. Today (24th Oct) is also the 40th anniversary of New Model Army’s very first gig, and in honour of that occasion, there’s a livestream performance tonight that I’ve got a ticket for so will be watching that later and hopefully singing along to our favourites.

Have a good day, all of you

I arose at 420, took a quick shower and hit the road. After the Daytona 500 portion of the Florida Turnpike I had a leisurely drive down the keys. I arrived on Marathon where Buddy was boarded an hour before they opened so I went to the Pubic store and grabbed mostly cat food and a box of Bubba burgers since they were frozen and a twelve pack of beers. Got Buddy ( they lied and said he was sweet) and I am home. Just until Moanday morning or earlier if needed. Doctor said he didn’t expect “anything big” to happen this weekend. So, I have almost two days of sloth. The maid was here since I left so everything is nice and clean. Buddy AKA Gator was most happy to see me and is snuggled under the covers napping which is probably what I am going to do here shortly.

There truly is no place like home. Hubby was given a Xanax last night so he slept well finally. I ordered and should receive earmuffs, like one would wear to shoot a gun, for him since he has alarms and beepers and buzzers going off all the time. We get it. We know his heart isn’t beating normally. That’s why we are here. Shut off the damn alarms. Nurses says they can’t. How in hell is anyone expected to sleep with all that noise. I wanted to take a hammer to the dang thing and I wasn’t even trying to sleep.

His cardiologist told me his main problem right now is there is a blood clot clogging up the new aortic valve (not unusual) and they will slowly dissolve it with Coumadin. Joy, Joy. That means weekly labs to keep the balance but he said if we can get it dissolved then they can fix the other valve but there were no promises. I did manage to flat ask and he said no he is not in danger of imminent death. That’s the only way I was comfy leaving him for the weekend. I have to get some rest and a break while he is being tended by excellent staff. Once home again it will be me all the time.

So after my nap I intend to drink some of those beers and watch the new Borat movie on Prime.

Happy weekend everyone.

It is 25f here this morning. Looking out my den window, my walnut tree is losing leaves at an amazing rate. It is like raining leaves

We made a run to Tractor Supply and got a couple of new wheels for the mulcher/vac. FCD has to make spacers so they’ll install properly, but he’s got a machine shop and material and mad machining skillz, so it won’t be a big deal. I might even be able to clean some leaves this afternoon. I’m surprised at how thick the leaf cover is already.

I’ve vacuumed the guest room and just finished spraying spot cleaner on the worst spots. As soon as I post this, I’ll fill the shampooer with hot water and cleaning solution and start cleaning the nasty looking carpet. With luck, furniture will hide the stains that don’t come clean. We shall see.

It’s a loverly day today, but tomorrow is supposed to be cold and rainy and icky. Then Moanday will be nice again. Weird weather hereabouts.

Happy Saturday!
A not too bad 66 degrees outside, but it is damp and rainy.
It feels like Sunday to me, but nope, it’s Saturday.
Nice morning at the park. Most of the regulars showed up, so a good time was had by all.

I don’t know what the lawn/fence/bathroom guy is doing upstairs, but it sure is noisy. I’m afraid to go look. The dogs aren’t too happy, and they really flipped out when he carried one of the shower walls downstairs.

I hate to disappoint y’all, but I was fully dressed when I tried out the tub. Well, kinda sorta fully dressed. I had a house dress on over top of my long underwear. That is my just got out of the shower and I’m not going anywhere outfit. Unless Although, it would probably be okay for walmart. Maybe even a little overdressed.

I’m happy for you and Buddy that you are able to come home for a bit, Butters. And that it sounds like Hubby is going to be okay.

Not getting much done today. I feel lazy for one, and I’m trying to stay out of the lawn/fence/bathroom guy’s way.

Brrrrrrr! Autumn is back. It rained here last evening and we’re still hovering ~52F.

Up, caffeinating, breakfasted and a load of towels and sheets ready to go into the dryer. I plan on staying in today just to continue the healing a little longer.

Off to do KP.

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Goo caught a rat that was incautious enough to venture onto the catio. Mrs. L.A. tried to go out the door to take it from her, but Goo came into the house and led a little chase before we got her to drop it. Big rat, too. I suspect it came from next door.
