Creatures of Habit in the MMP

Good girl, Goo! I hope the mighty huntress was well praised for her pest control.

Been the kind of week where a jillion little things are just off-center. Power outages, grocery shortages, falls (and subsequent pain-all-over), job (such-as-it-is) loss, cat issues, the kids being extra-charming, both in terms of general behavior and in terms of innocent-but-kind-of-stinging comments, plumbing problems, sleepless nights, and the ongoing apparently-futile search for another doctor and therapist who both takes my insurance and is taking patients.

My fuse is short, though, which is my own fault. I haven’t eaten much lately- nothing for the past three weeks and then I had some veggie broth yesterday. Partly, it’s just-no-appetite, but of course it quickly becomes more complicated than that. I started off fatter than I’ve ever been, so I keep hearing “You’re looking skinny!” “You look well!” which makes it difficult to want to try really hard to make myself eat something. 65 lb down in the past two months or so. And having to rely on grocery delivery with the delay/expense/unreliable stock/limited options/etc. just adds another layer of complicated. DoorDash does come here for a few different places, so I’m on-and-off considering that for today. My options there are fast food, a pasta place famous for its drenched salads, and Panera… which is fast food, but at least has some fruit as an option? Not the most economical choice overall, though.

Is it too early to just go back to bed?

She was definitely praised as a Good Girl and a Mighty Huntress. Mrs. L.A. gave her a couple of inches of bacon. (She gave Tonka some too, since he ‘helped’.)

Sorted, laundered, walked Gordie. Somebody took my crayon, tape, and the hook for grabbing packages. I’m starting to understand Milton. It’s 80 right now, but supposed to be cooler and rainy tomorrow. Good thing, because maintenance is waiting on a part so the can replace my entire HVAC system.

Cheer, Butters, you’re earned those beers.

Hope the eye gets better Boofae. The bnd sounds cool.

Dot, not at all. After dinner, of course.

I guess the rat fought back. Mrs. L.A. just cleaned a little blood off of Goo. I had to hold Goo – who absolutely hates to be held – while Mrs. L.A. wiped her chin with a wet wipe. Fortunately, Goo has had all of her shots. Mrs. L.A. tried to call the vet, but the line is busy.

The vet says she should be all right; just keep an eye on her for a couple of days and call Monday if it looks like it’s infected and they’ll give her antibiotics.

As I knew would happen, there are problems with the tub installation.
He doesn’t have to rebuild the wall where the plumbing lives, he does have to modify the wall that backs up to the closet. I need to empty out the closet before he gets here tomorrow.

However, it seems the tub surround I got will not work with a walk in tub and according to the guy at Home Depot they do not make surrounds for walk in tubs.
No really true as there are walk-in tubs that come with surrounds, but they come as a set, and are way more expensive than buying the tub and surround separately.

I knew there would be an issue.
There always is.

Afternoon all. Despite it being rainy and only 54F outside, the powers-that-be decided to go ahead with soccer this morning, so I spent several hours outside getting wet and cold (didn’t think to take a jacket, so only had on a couple short-sleeve shirts and sweatpants). And we lost, boys 2-4 and girls 0-5 (to the girls credit, this was a team that beat them 1-8 earlier, and three of the goals were due to the wet conditions). Then rushed home to get changed to referee (and put on a sweatshirt) and got back to the field in time to find no teams present, so no game played. After 5 hours outside in the drizzle, I am now inside with no desire to go back out anytime soon.

Butters, glad things are well enough that you can get some home-time to gather yourself. And things don’t seem as dire as they were…hoping for a full recovery.

Sari, nothing ever goes according to schedule when it comes to home remodeling. Hope it meets your approval once it’s finally done (pictures are required, you know…)

flyboy, hope Goo is fine after her mighty tussle with the rat.

Dot, losing 65 pounds in 2 months strikes me as probably not a good idea…Door Dash might just be worth it. And the small stuff can add up, as you well know.

boo fae, I was wondering what Cromwell was doing in the 20th century, but I am now aware it is a band (I know more history than bands, I’m afraid). And hope the eye heals up.

shoe, yea on the rat sale and hope the tips have gotten better.

OK, need to get back to regular internettin’; all y’all take care.

I had to go up on the roof to spray some Flex Seal around the vents to (hopefully) stop the rain from dripping in the living room. I heard Goo in the Catio after I was done, but she was nowhere to be seen. I thought she might have gotten out when I went out to do the roof. I looked under the deck, but didn’t see her. Turns out, she was under one of the wicker patio chairs. She was mewing pitifully, as if she (thought she) couldn’t get back out. Anyway, I ‘rescued’ her.

We’re not your regular internet tin’? Sniff. Now you’ve hurt ze feelings…

LOL! The Mighty Huntress, the Fearless Slayer of Rats, gets lost under a chair?

Howdy Y’all! Been a very lazy day here at da cave. I technically have not been outside all day. I say technically cause I have been on the back porch, but it’s covered and screened in so it’s sorta kinda inside. OYKW ventured outside to go get the mail, so he can say he has actually been outside. We have supped and the rain decided to set in just over an hour ago and looks to be with us for the evenin’.

Butters glad you are home for some well-deserved R&R and beerverages. I am sure Buddy Gator was glad to be sprung. Sounds like maybe some improvement for hubs, so yay for that.

Dots eat and then go back to bed. That just sounds like a good plan.

flyboy yay for mighty huntress Goo!

Semi-lazy Saturday around these parts. Did some grocery shopping for the next couple of weeks, swept the front walk, fed the beasts, gave Caelan his meds, made White Chocolate Macadamia Nut cookies, did a load of laundry, played with Tango and I’m now cooking a pizza for dinner. Tomorrow is the onerous works of changing litter boxes and such all.

After I cleaned the carpet, FCD wanted me to drive to Alexandria with him to look at a car he wants. Well, by the time we got there, it was sold, but we looked at a similar one. However, it was a base model and he wants what he wants, so the search continues.

Then we went to look at a dresser he found on Facebook Marketplace - honest-to-goodness solid wood, 10 drawers, with a few minor cosmetic issues. We’ll be picking it up tomorrow because it was too big for the car (as we knew.) We’ll be doing some work at Daughter’s, then head across the bridge to Solomon’s to pick it up.

I got a surprise check in the mail for the RMG TCPA Settlement - a whopping $16.68!!! Hey, free money, right? It looks like it got caught in a sorting machine, but I should still be able to cash it. I hope.

Thus endeth my day. I need chillage…

I spent too much time in Full Procrastination mode because today’s main chore was cleaning out the fridge, my most hated task. Why can’t someone invent self-destructing containers that also obliterate the leftovers? How satisfying it would be to sit in my living room listening to the muted thuds and thinking, “There goes the Liver Surprise!”

My food processor quit working, so I bit the bullet and ordered a new one. Why, oh why can’t I get it into my head that Amazon sometimes sends stuff USPS? It’s not that I want to work doggio any harder, but UPS delivers stuff to my door; USPS keeps anything that doesn’t fit in the mail bins and makes me go clear downtown to get it. And, of course, the food processor didn’t fit. #*!@&%! Also, hmph.

Butters, so glad you get a couple of days off the roller coaster. Soak up that rest and quietude!

Dot. Eat. Eat healthy stuff that’s good for you. Panera is a decent choice. Not eating is a very bad idea and a horrible way to get thin. I must have missed something: who are the “kids” of whom you speak?

boo fae, ouch. Are the drops steroids? If so, they do help with the irritation but slow healing, which I’m sure you already know, so why am I saying so?

flyboy, pats to Goo. Sounds like she deserves a Purple Heart, even if she wouldn’t get into Feline Mensa (not that she’d want to go near those snobs).

MetalMouse, sorry on the losses, but sounds like your girls are warriors. And brrr! Hope you got warmed up!

sari, sorry about the tub headache.

swampy, do you make french fries from scratch? Dang, now I’m craving fries.

Goo did well Johnny! I hope that she isn’t harmed badly from the tussle.

dot, you need to eat. Food may not always sound good (experience over the past week myself tells me that), but get some nutrition in you somehow.

Sorry that your teams lost metal mouse.

I actually got out of the house briefly this evening! I scooped Nelson up and we went down the street to pick up a gyro for supper. 'Twas good. I actually feel like doing something in the studio now. I haven’t done much for a week.

Hippy, around here (West central Indiana) our Walnut trees are the first to lose their leaves, and the last to get them in the Spring.

@nonacetone

The same here.

I have a hypothesis. Rats tend to stay close to walls. I folded a corner into the catio mesh to block off the corner near the house. We heard a big thump/crash. I think maybe Goo cut her chin, running into the edge of the wire fencing whilst pouncing on the rat… Mrs. L.A. says that sounds reasonable.

In Europe, we just ended daylight savings, unfortunately just for this year. So I’m very confused as my computer says the correct time, and all the other visible clocks still have the old time. My body is confused. The majority of people on this thread have another week before going through this nonsense.

So I’m awake very early on a Sunday and the sun’s just coming up. Lots to do today, so should probably go take a shower. Tomorrow’s our first working day after two weeks of vacation and sleeping in, so the time change is working in our favor.

Have a good Sunday!
