Culture shock and reunion adventures: it's the MMP!

swampy, big hugs to you. Did they have children? You know, after Mr. Anachi almost checked out last summer, I did some real soul searching. It was a real eye-opener how much I depended upon him, mentally as much as physically. It’s my opinion that folks who are “devoted” to each other establish such mutual ties, when one goes, it is a deathly blow. Hard to explain if you haven’t experienced it.

Thanks y’all. It’s so weird. In a way it’s kinda like I’ve lost family members cause I just really loved 'em that much.

Puggy they had two kids together, girls. Bob also had a daughter from a very brief but apparently productive first marriage. Their daughter that lives in GA had been down looking after Judy for a couple of weeks. Judy had been in the hospital for about two weeks and had been dismissed but needed some looking after that Bob was not able to do, so the daughter had taken a leave of absence from work to look after her mother. Judy died in her sleep, as the daughter discovered her dead at 6:30 a.m. yesterday. The county coroner lives across the street, so she was called. She came over and pronounced Judy dead. When Bob died (his daughter was standing next to him comforting him when he collapsed and fell over across a couch in the living room) three hours later, the EMTs had to take him to the morgue because the coroner was away at a training class, which she went to after pronouncing Judy dead. Anyways, it was last night before he was pronounced officially dead. As we all know, you ain’t dead til the coroner says you are. The other daughter lives in Texas and is here now. Bob’s daughter from the first marriage is in The Phillipines and is not coming due to well, being so far away and as I understand it, not real close to him.

Wow, I’m being a real downer, so I’ll lighten up a bit and make a smartass comment directed to EC.

Lexmark printers are made where you live? Who knew Swedish was the official language of Kaintucky! :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m sorry, Swampy. We knew a couple like that, too – also in Jawjah, actually, in Thomson, Tom and Miss Ruby. They were quite a pair, but we all knew when Miss Ruby died that Tom wouldn’t be far behind her. We were all sad, but happy that they’re together in eternity (as they believed); it was impossible to imagine one without the other.

I’m sorry to hear about your friends, swampy. And all of your coworkers who’ve lost loved ones.

Sorry about your friends, swampus.
I am about to have another class. We had major thunderboomers here this morning–lightning and everything. Looks like we are gonna get more of that this evening.

I have a (new) front loader. I leave the door open after each wash for a bit–no musty smell and never had a leak. I am somewhat pissed that the detergent costs the earth, though…

Mika --thanks for the mini cultural lesson. I am always amazed at how many aspects there are to Vishnu. Any stories about Cali (Kali?)?
I made pan cookies today. They are very good. Turned the A/C on due to humidity central round here.

Well, I am hacked off again. This just hasn’t been my week. I was planning to go to a Catfish (baseball) game tonight, but it has been cancelled due to the field being too wet. They’re going to have a double-header tomorrow. I doubt I’ll go - I don’t like baseball that much!

My sister in law had surgery to remove her thyroid today, and no one has called to let us know how she’s doing. I wish they would - I don’t want to call and bother them, but I want to hear something, damnit!

Swampy, big hugs to you and I’ll toss in a few beers too.

I was going to ask, but you posted before I could, if they were the sort of couple you described. It makes a weird sort of sense that it happened the way it did.

I’m making some sort of progress on my many work taskers, but I’m still not anywhere near completion. Le sigh…

Heh! I am such a southerner. Since their kids are from out of town and all, there’s a concern about making sure there’s food. So, I have become part of the “Let’s Organize Food For The Bereaved Committee.” Kinda like bein’ a churchlady!

Anyhoo, as I post, I’ve got N.O.T. on to boil for N.O.T. salad (HAH! a twofer!) plus there’s a chicken simmering and cornbread baking to make some good ol’ southern style cornbread chicken 'n dressing.

Others are organized and busily preparing (fixin’ since we’uns is in the south) fried chicken, ham, salads, veggies and desserts.

Since I still have plates (lots and lots) left from my own father’s funeral over two years ago, I’ll be taking those over tomorrow. There’s also a well organized drinks, cups, napkins, forks and ice subcommittee.

 What if I turn into one of those take potato salad to the bereaved people!

Oh and thanks everybody for what you said. Y’all are just the bestest.

Time to go check on the N.O.T.. (Woohoo! That’s a threefer!)

My brother-in-law called - SIL made it through the surgery fine. She’s very sore, and can’t turn her head, but is doing well. That is a relief.

I’m sorry about the co-worker, swampy.

On a lighter note, my newer PC is back and (temporary) working. If it goes FUBAR again I might just replace it. I’ve already spent 30% of the replacement/upgrade cost.

Drae, that cat sounds like mine.

Rant: meeks, that sucks. I hope you can find a new job quick, and sucky boss learns how to do it all.

Story: That is a very interesting humility lesson.

Dinner time! Salad and pasta and chicken. Sorry, no **N.O.T.**s today.

Again, thanks for all the nice words y’all.

Ok a quickie and then I’m signin’ off cause there be thunderboomers on the way. Cornbread’s done, chicken’s done and N.O.T. done and all is cooling.

Rigs good luck with class. canineservant yay and here’s hopin’ the puter does not get fubar on ya. Mika they can all to bite my big hairy gay white butt! You’ll find that better job. Snakes glad you’re SIL is doing good. Good thoughts and prayers headed her way.

Glad to hear your SIL is ok SCL.

I’m outta here. Boy, long day and I’m hungry!!

I love mine! The only time my clothes are stinky is when I use too much fabric softener. And not only does it not leak, it spins more of the water out of the clothes, so the dryer doesn’t run as long. FWIW, I have a Kenmore, which looks almost identical to the Frigidaire I was considering. And my sister has a front loader, I don’t know which model, but she’s never said anything about stink and leaks. I’d buy another.

Whew - Just finished the last of my glazing. Tomorrow when I get home, I’ll load the kiln and start it up, and by Saturday, it should all be done. Can’t wait to see what everything looks like.

I’m sure there was more I wanted to share, but it’s late and I’m tired.

Who’s on for next Monday?? (she asks, not having read past whatever page this question was on…)

I’m so sorry about your friends, swampy. But I understand about it feeling right for them to go so close together. Hugs.

That link was awful, Drae. I about fell out of my chair laughing. :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool story, meeks.

Glad SIL is doing well, SCL.

I am munching on a hot fudge sundae for dinner. The munching has to do with the fact that I had them top it with smoked almonds. Yum.

Yes, it was that kind of day, why do you ask?

I think I’ll go crawl into bed.

Thank goodness I have tomorrow off. The three days after that at work are going to be Lissla-dancing with-impatience-and-wanting-vacation days, I just know it.

Driving continues to go well. It is good.

Other than that, it’s incredibly boring here and I have been, as a result, thinking a lot about what’s been going on in my life lately.

I’m glad the driving is going well.

You know, I just did a search, and in four years I’ve started only forty-four threads. And yet I have thousands of posts. Odd.

That’s because it is a Frigidaire. Regardless of whether it says Kenmore or Frigidaire on the front, it’s a great machine. Mine’s happily sloshing along right now.

I am awake. I should be asleep. This is annoying.

That is all.

All my washers have been front-loaders. Leave the door open for at least half an hour after you take out the clothes, so the inside dries properly. It doesn’t have to be open all the way, just not-closed to let air circulate.

Current models, at least over here, have some waiting time before stopping and being able to open them. This is to give enough time for the water to drain away, even if you’re stopping it when it’s completely full of water.

Lissla and eleanorigby (did I get the number of r’s right? yes I did), thanks for the name info!
