Curious about the effect of current news on the lefties of this board...

A big problem the Left has with democracy is that they only like it when they win.
A big problem the Right has with democracy is that they only like it when they win.

That’s a very misguided statement.

The left is just fine with democracy, even if things don’t go our way. We encourage people to vote to change that. As long as I am able to vote in free and fair elections, I will accept the results, even if I don’t like them.

The right, OTOH, does have a tendency to play games with the electorate, to keep power even when they are not representing the majority of voters.

I voted no change, but maybe I should have put more likely. Previously, the only way I would have not voted would be if I lost both legs in a car accident on the way to the poll. Now I think I might be able to crawl on my hands the rest of the way.

I think there is a good chance that Ginsburg and Breyer can hold on another couple of years, but if we don’t get back the senate, then I expect Thomas to drop out before Trump leaves office at which point it will be 20 years before the scales of justice have any chance of balancing again.

I hate protests, and now I have to go to another one. Shit! I hate self-righteous speeches even when I totally agree. Maybe especially!

March a mile, listen to speeches, march another mile, more speeches, dammit! Weather, thunderstorms or swamp heat, if not both.

Getting too old for this shit, started getting too old when I was twenty. At least I don’t live in Berkeley!

Dammit!

Only the Right seems to think that their not winning is a problem that needs to be fixed.

Kennedy retiring was always something we thought might happen during Trump’s term. He’s an asshole not to wait a bit longer to be sure that we have the Senate the people want, but it’s not impossible to stall until the election. As such, the election matters even more than it did before.

No Change because I never skip voting.

I read that exact same post and completely failed to see this opening.

I’m confident that a majority would vote for the proposition: if my brain worked the way Vinyl Turnip’s does, life would be a lot more entertaining.

There is apparently more to the story than has yet become common knowledge. Kennedy’s son is intimately connected with Donald Trump’s finances:
