Custom Licence Plates — Seen in the Wild

I don’t know where you live or how plausible this is, but license plate David might be a practitioner of the dark arts of Electronic Warfare, not the much more common merely Eeeeww!-worthy.

One that has me scratching my head a bit—I can think of several possible meanings: On a Toyota Tundra, WEB FEET.

What state is the plate from? I’ve heard that people from the rainy Pacific Northwest (e.g., Seattle, Portland) joke about having “webbed feet” (like ducks) due to all of the rain.

I should have mentioned: New York.

Perfect for my wife, who has webbing between some (but not all) toes.

That’s entirely possible

I can’t remember if I mentioned this one before but sometimes I see a very distinct yellow and black car in the parking garage at work with BMBLEBE plates. I saw it again today… I don’t think it’s one of my co-workers.

You don’t think the car is one of your co-workers, or the driver? It could go either way, you know.

Snerk.. I don’t think the car belongs to one of my co-workers.

Scored two headscratchers this evening:

  • AUNT⎵DD on a standard FL plate on a small SUV. The driver was a very buff 50-something gym-rat of a guy. With somebody probably his wife alongside. Hooray for being vigorously healthy, but your license plate doesn’t match you very well.

  • TSMBN on a 5-character surfer booster plate on a 911 Turbo S. Nice car, but the plate is a complete mystery to me.

I wonder if REDACTD is in the epstein files that just came out. They could be DANI31A who some call LAGEMA.

I am guessing the one plate is Daniela, and driven by that frame of mind (I saw the plates in a short time span) I interpreted the later plate as: la gema, which means the gem, in Spanish. Of course it could be a completely different word or meaning, but that is what immediately came to mind.

There’s a Tesla that parks at my gym with the plate RIVIAN2B. It always makes me smile.

Not sure if the owner is hoping the Tesla grows up to be a Rivian, or if the owner just has the Tesla until he or she can afford or justify buying a Rivian, but either way it works for me.

Pretty sure they’re referencing a line from, “Schitt’s Creek,” that has become a go-to meme.

Ah, I haven’t seen the show so I wasn’t aware of that reference- thank you!

Was behind someone this morning who I thought had SPUR91 on their plate and I was trying to figure out the reference. As I stopped behind them at a light I realized it the S was a 5 and the R was a K. Maybe it still meant something, I dunno.

Today on the way home from my sister’s house I saw H1PP1 driven by a lady who looked like she could have been or still is a hippie.

Been a slow few days around the thread. I guess we all had other things to do. Me included. But I did catch a couple.

  • GOES2 on a 5-character Miami Heat NBA booster plate on a VW Tiguan. That might just be a luckily memorable normal series plate, or it might be custom. I wonder if they put a hop-up module on their engine; Tiguans aren’t noted for being road rockets.

  • 2PAIR on a 5-character [something] booster plate on a large SUV. They have 4 kids - 2 boys & 2 girls? They have two sets of twins? They won the car in a poker tournament with very skilled bluffing?

This last one needs some explanation.

IMS⎵500 on a standard FL plate on a 2012-ish Corvette. With an Indianapolis Motor Speedway license plate frame. And big decals on the doors which were/are the 2011 IMS centennial logo:

I did some research and although there have been many factory-made Indy commemorative Corvettes over the years, there wasn’t one like this. So this guy’s custom paint & decals are a one-off. Whoever he is, he’s certainly an Indy racing buff.

I am an Indy racing buff… I was wondering if by chance you had seen a pace car but the pictures I’ve been able to find of the pace cars from that era don’t have that logo. But they were Corvettes around that time.

I haven’t been going into the office (or leaving the house much at all) these last two weeks so my plate spotting has been slim. I did see one the other day that makes me wonder what it means.

9 LORDS Is someone really into The Twelve Days of Christmas? A dance teacher? Something else?

Here’s a complete list of all special edition Corvettes, including the various Indy pace car / Indy commemorative cars. A pretty fun page to peruse. But no, the car I saw was none of those. I checked there (and a few lesser sites / cites) first.

I was on a cruise all last week and my car is in the shop the next few days. So not a lot of carspotting for me either.

Maybe 9 LORDS is a high jumper or pole vaulter. You know, a leaper. Or a BASE jumper.

STARG81 on something I did not identify.

To drive the point home there were five s-f logos across the back, Star Wars rebels, Star Trek Enterprise, Stargate, and two others I didn’t know.

On a new-looking, dark red Camaro LT1, with a very understated USMC license plate frame: C4RNA6E

The Black Speech went all the way around the skirt of the car.
