Custom Licence Plates — Seen in the Wild

If it is a Nissan Cube, then it could be a family car. If there are three people in the family, it could be that together there the awsome 3. Or what you posited.

Perhaps the Fantastic Four had to rebrand when Johnny Storm went on leave.

Chaud is hot in French. Maybe that was indeed an I and they were going for hottie?

The ones I remember from the last couple of days:

  • GRIDDLE: Either an enthusiastic amateur or a professional cook?
  • HEYS3XY: On a tuner growling and farting its way through the traffic on the highway, with annoying blinking brake lights. I’m surprised the state approved this one.
  • 3LDLBROS: Has/is one of three younger brothers?
  • GO PW: Given where I saw it, it was obviously a reference to Port Washington, a village on the north shore of Long Island, NY. A large SUV, perhaps belonging to parents of an athlete in the local school.
  • NY MUSIC: This one has me a little puzzled. Given that it was on a NY plate, the NY seems superfluous, so must be otherwise important. Two theories: (a) That the owner teaches music in a local school and the reference is to NYSSMA, which is well-known among school musicians and teachers. (b) It’s a reference to NY Music, which appears to be a Korea-based promoter of K-Pop.

SLAPZZZ on a white pickup with a ladder rack that looked like a contractor’s truck. Which makes me wonder if it’s meant to evoke the sound of a hammer and a saw.

Just a couple in the last day-plus:

  • JUN⎵⎵VIC on a FL standard plate on a Kia Sorrento crossover. She’s June & he’s Victor? If so, a nice change of pace from the usual his’n’hers initials like “JAS VCS”. It was parked and empty so I couldn’t see the driver’s gender.

And ref this …

My other find was

  • MTN⎵⎵LIF on a FL 7-character Florida panther/wildcat conservation booster plate. Here in flatter-than-Kansas Florida. They did not however have all sorts of outdoorsy bumper stickers too, so your find is better than mine.

VW Atlas with BAGHDAD

VW GTI Mark 7 with MK 7

Jeep Gladiator with YEAIKNO

Just two this morning that weren’t repeats:

MWUTIAM on an late 1990s Chevy Tahoe. I am what I am.

FABIANE on a new Land Rover Discovery. Not sure about that one. The feminine version of Fabio?

68RRR88 on a late-model Chevy pickup.

No idea.

Grrrrrrreat? (Hear that in the voice of Tony the Tiger.)

R3ZNOR Nine Inch Nails fan, perhaps.

OFF WHT3 on a white Kia, not particularly anything other than dead white.

R3LTOR Realtor obviously, reinforced by a sticker with presumably their Instagram account, cokerealtor

A black Ford F150 pickup with Oklahoma plates: 1YESHUA. The license plate frame said In God We Trust. The rear window sported a large eagle decal, American flags for wings, oversized talons outstretched to strike.

BSM TREY on something black and sporty looking that was zipping in and out of traffic cutting people off left and right. I got a good look at the plate when he tried to take my front bumper off.

I really liked this one I saw today: SYRAQQQS. Taking advantage of NY’s 8-character allowance.

ZGURU 7 a gray Hyundai sedan

EPICJAN a sporty black car driven by a middle aged woman; all the women named Jan who I know are in their 50s or older

TIDYTEAM a minivan, maybe belongs to a housekeeping company?

CHAP4RRO with an A, that’s Mexican Spanish for short guy

I’m out of the country a few days. This is my recent haul & will have to do until late next week. But some pretty obscure plates.

  • DGN⎵ULU on a FL standard plate on a Mustang coupe. Color me baffled.

  • TRILON on a FL standard plate on Mustang Mach E crossover. Still mystified.

  • CYMREIG on a FL 7-character something booster plate on an SUV. I was baffled. Google now informs me that’s Welsh for … “Welsh”. As in Welshness of culture or ethnicity, not in the sense of the language. Cute.

  • 04AMUSE on a FL 7-character fine arts booster plate on a Hyundai crossover. “Oh, for a muse!”. Clever.

One today: ZZ DOC. Not an MD plate that NY offers, just a regular one, so probably some other kind of “doc,” but I thought it was clever.

Perhaps a doctor who specializes in sleep disorders or sleep apnea. Or has the initials ZZ.

N8Z ILX on an Acura ILX. I assume it’s Nate’s ILX.

GOR8IDR – I bet they’re sad the Raiders moved.

BPW4EVR – Google tells me BPW is “Business and Professional Women”, so that’s probably it. (It could also be “Bureau of Public Works”, but I can’t imagine someone putting that in a license plate.)

Three names, I’m guessing, one with their favorite game.
