Custom Licence Plates — Seen in the Wild

Ray is up?

That’s a standard issue WA plate, 3 letters followed by 4 numbers. I think it’s just coincidence.

Rollin’ Coal.
I’m confidant this truck belongs to the person I saw with the big “DON’T TREAD ON ME” tattoo.

Reminds me of a very old joke my father used to tell when I was a child:

“When the Communists take over, we’ll all eat strawberries and cream!”

“But, Comrade – I don’t like strawberries.”

“When we take over, you’ll eat strawberries and cream – and you’ll LIKE strawberries and cream!”

– totalitarians are totalitarians are totalitarians. Whatever political colors they’re claiming.

Seen today on a black Porsche 911 Carrera: TRMN8TR. (And being driven pretty much how you would expect from that.)

What was really remarkable was the plate itself: It claimed to be a New York plate, but it was white lettering on a black background matching the color of the car. A custom job and probably highly illegal, but I couldn’t figure out what NY plate they had started with to get that.

White-on-black plates have become quite common in several states. I do wonder what the rest of the story is. Is that meant to be a sign that “I’m a Fascist like you, Mr. Policeman?”.

Here in FL we have one legit white on black plate with a very subdued center icon. It’s supposedly representing “Family Values”, but looking at the vehicles I see it on I suspect the value it most represents is Reactionary Traitorism.

The icon in the middle is support for this outfit: Sheridan House – Answers for today’s family

How exactly a religious whackjob outfit got their own set of license plates supporting their “charity” is doubtless a story rife with skullduggery and low political advantage-seeking. Gee thanks, Governor DeCriminalis.

I saw a Chevy Tahoe mongo family wagon / SUV thingy the other day. The plate was 5Boy Dad. Seems like a good fit.

I saw a nondescript car with ISA DAY. I’m not sure what the sentiment is, but the words seem clear enough.

[aside]
I mentioned upthread that I was getting a personal plate for the new car I got a couple weeks ago. I finally got the paperwork I need to register it and apply for the personal plate. So that happens tomorrow morning and within a couple/few weeks I should have a new brain-teaser plate to share.

Today I saw a BMW sedan with VEEMER.

On a South Dakota license plate:

420 CTC

I believe CTC means Coast To Coast.

I drive a Chevy Tahoe. It seats seven, so it is indeed a good plate for a guy with five kids. Although I’ve taken the very back seats out, to make room for my golf clubs.

I noticed the day after that post that I mucked up the capitalization. I blame my phone. 5BOY DAD is more like it.

Seen today on a BMW whose model you can guess: WHY M3.

Damn. A few days ago I saw a similar plate on a BMW celebrating the model it was. I meant to post it then, but missed the opportunity and now I can’t remember the details.

Today I saw a Hyundai SUV/family wagon with TEN4PL.

I suppose the TEN4 part can be read as the old radio code “10-4” meaning something like “I agree or understand and will comply / follow up.”

But that’s not for sure; I can split up the ideas in other ways. In any case, I don’t know what it means. Anyone? Bueller?

I think that comes from a Walt Kelly Pogo cartoon. Howland Owl was speaking to Churchy LaFemme.

I suppose that’s possible. I remember it as being told by my father in the 1950’s, or possibly 1960’s (or possibly both.) I don’t know where he got it from.

CYBSMRF

Great choice of background color for the plate too. Bravo there Mr./Ms. Smurf.

Thank you. I could parse out the cyber part but the ‘Smurf’ allusion zoomed right past me. No doubt because I avoided the whole Smurf thing as much as possible these last few decades.
