I like Stitch especially since you have nine cats.
You know the old saying-“A Stitch in time saves nine”.

Hey! I hadn’t thought of that. Neat!
Huh. I liked Riley Stoker but if it just doesn’t work, it doesn’t work.
How’zabout Hitch, referring of course to the fine old custom of thumbing for rides.
A cute little cuss, to be sure.
We have a polydactyl cat. Because of that,I named him “Dexter”.
All funds for naming rights can be forwarded to me.
I’m sticking with Thumbkin.
Where is Thumbkin? Where is Thumbkin? Here I am! Here I am!
In my house that would become a whole cat ritual.
Digit. Digit, Digit, Digit, Digit. He says his name is Digit!
Digit Stitches?
Since I already have a Pumpkin, things might get a tad confusing, eh?
I agree with Digit. Great name!
Courtesy of my brother, how about “Lampshade”? No reason, other than it’s funny.
I always thought that Spike would be a great kitten name.
I know someone who named her cat Kung Pao Kitten. Just thought I would throw that one in cuz it’s really clever.
Are you my evil cat slave twin?
With some name changes that pretty much describes my process. I also have two dogs but only one sleeps with me all the time. The other sneaks up in the middle of the night about half the time. I don’t remember the last time I slept in my bed in a normal position. I usually end up sleeping diagonally and although I have four pillows I am lucky if I get one as the rest are occupied by a cat before I get into bed. Like you not all of them sleep with me though.
I made it out of the single digits quite a while ago and added the 12th cat in November when my ex husband died and we took in his cat Aura. She is the only one I don’t have a picture of yet. I may have one on the camera but it appears to be missing from its base.
From youngest to oldest…
Kitty Piles
Elwood, Bob, Schmee and Button are always in bed with me at night. Jake, Moochie, Gizmo and Keekers will make an apperance in the middle of the night several days a week.
Mascara wearing odd little boy… how about Ziggy Stardust or Bowie?
I also like Dexter.
I feel lucky if I can hold onto the entire right half of the bed. Many years ago, I awoke to find that one cat, in the course of shifting position to stay snugged to me again and again all night, had managed to herd me into a cramped ball up against the headboard.
I’m sticking to single digits; if I ever topple off that cliff it’ll be kittens all the way down.
Tuxedo boys! One of the new kitten’s brothers was a black and white tuxedo boy; other than being shorthaired he could be your boys’ triplet. Bob: Snerk – they do manage to demonstrate their flexibility in the most hilarious ways, don’t they? Penelope: Oh, what a sweet face!
Uno: Handsome fellow – I take it from the clipped ear he’s from a rescue? Button: Love that one buff toe! Moochie: Wow, look at that fluffy tail on that not-quite-longhair body – I bet s/he’s amazingly soft to touch.
Schmee: Love the white markings, especially on the face. Keekers: She must put in a lot of grooming time to stay so clean. Gizmo: Ha! My Peanut and your Gizmo need to visit a kitty fat farm! Pugs: Awe, a longhaired calico! They’re so beautiful. I had one years ago – her name was Tribble.
Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww… It’s mostly my veggie boys – Squash, Pumpkin, and Peanut – who do the clumping. Once in a while Ed will tolerate intruders, and Squash does love his girlfriend Sally, even when she gives him a hard time.
The kitten has (mostly) given up trying to sleep on my face (though he still enthusiastically goes for it whenever I hold him) and now snuggles with Squash, Pumpkin and Peanut on my left side. Thus emboldened, Sally as of last night has resumed her station at my knees. What comings and goings there are when I’m asleep I’d prefer not to contemplate.
Hmmmmmmm… “Ziggy Stardust” – yes, definitely a candidate. “Spike” is cute too. “Dexter” doesn’t work because I knew a horse by that name, and, well – no.
Okay, okay, SmartAleq – I’m keeping “Digit” in mind!
Ernie, of course. It’s the best Hemingway-derived name ever, and it would fit so well with Eddy, Teddy, and Freddy.
Ha! I just thought of one I’ll probably never use, but it made me giggle:
Bert-and-I or Bert 'n I
Anyone recognize why it makes me laugh?
From Wikipedia:
The scar resulting from a hit is called a Schmiss (German for a “smite”) which was seen as a badge of honour especially in the second half of the 19th century and the first half of the 20th century.
Now Schmiss would normally be an unacceptably cutesy-sounding name for any kitten of mine. But at the same time naming him after a dueling scar would be awfully cool :).
Neddy?
So when he shoves his little cold wet nose into my face he’s giving me a Schmiss-kiss?
“Neddy” – actually, that had occurred to me, but he’s not orange, which kind of undermines it for me.
Hey, if I played with the spelling the way so many parents seem to for their babies’ names, I could come up with “Bertinai” – like it?
Heh. I didn’t think you would.
