I’m glad he’s doing better. I hear ya on Petco. All the local aquarium places have closed. I am faced with Petco and Petsmart. Not good.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 55 Amurrkin out and foggy with a predicted high of 77 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. It’s like Spring has returned to south Jawja. I feel surprisingly good this mornin’. I slept through the night and was wide awake at five a.m. so up I am. Obviously there is soreness but that I can deal with. I am sippin’ on coffee and able to handle it, so YAY! After I ingest brekkie I will take the pain med cause I should for a few days accordin’ to my dentist whom I really like by the way. I have a follow-up appt. Tuesday of next week. That appointment is in the mornin’ and I have an appt. with the eye doc that afternoon. I suspect I shall end up with glasses. Anywho, plans for the day are not much. I’m sure I’ll be drowsy after takin’ the pain stuff cause that’s what happens. Sketties and meat sauce will be supped upon cause I think I can handle that. So, a day of medically induced sloth.
Butters glad you are home safe and all is right with HRH Lucky Louie. The cat semi-acknowledged your presence which is just about all one can expect from a cat.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, well, we shall see what the day holds.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
I’m up. I’m dressed. I’m breakfasting.
Happy Wednesday!
Good to hear that you survived the toothman, Swampy! Pain meds are good for inducing sloth, and if there’s no reason to not be slothful then why waste the opportunity?
I am at irk, I have had one meeting this morning, got another one shortly during which we will be discussing the meetings we’re having in December…then I have to go and protest about the pitifully insulting pay rise we’ve been given, and then another meeting which is a repeat of one I went to earlier but apparently I have to sit through it all over again.
Fortunately, there is tea. Small mercies, I know…
Been up for awhile & enjoying the first cup o joe. Wife’ll be racked out for another couple hours then we shall feed. 'Tis 76 Murrican, breezy, & had been raining in the wee hours. Clouds are breaking up now, sunrise is soon; it should be a lovely day.
The calendar is mercifully empty except for our condo’s weekly cocktails & horsedoofers at 5. Irk remains a risk, but not a big one. My list of excuses for not doing my admin catchup is far too short.
Happy hump day to all the folks working the typical schedule.
Blurf Back at irk. I really should have added a day for sloth. Have a Great Day everyone!
I was going to buy the MMP a gift, but then I realized we already have a dolt Venus Flytrap. ![]()
Spiderman and a carnivorous plant.
Happy Hump day all. Need to go do some banking and shopping here in a bit, outside that just another lazy day in paradise. Did solve the three Sudoku puzzles in the paper (we only get a hard-copy paper on Wed-Fri-Sun here) so i guess all the brain cells are working.
Butters, had a few hard landings too and yeah, really tends to focus your attention. Glad you and dog are re-acquainted, cat does care, just has no idea how to show it.
swampy, follow Drs. orders on the medication, even if you are feeling much better. And I’ve worn glasses since I was seven years old, so welcome (finally) to the club (maybe).
Boofae, you work for the government? Except for the pay raise protest, it sounds a lot like my job used to be–which is one reason I like being retired.
flyboy, sounds like a slothful day (my kind of day). You still flying or are you permanently on the ground like the rest of us gravity-controlled folks?
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Working closing shift tonight. Canes lost last night.

No, the real question is does Mrs. v3.0 insist Flytrap “sleep with the fishes”?![]()

Butters, glad HRH was happy to see you, and the cat displayed the proper level of apathy. Sucks about the pharmacy thing, though.
Spidey, buy it anyways. Mrs. Flytrap might want to upgrade to a more intelligent husband.
My apologies, that is obviously dogbutt featured in the Nepenthes picture.
I had a meeting this morning with my spousal unit and the engineers on his team regarding the drafting work I’m going to be doing for them. It’ll start Firday. So much for short weeks.
But the extra $$ will be nice.
Much busy again today, but I’ve figured some weird stuff out all by myself -go me!
I really hate working from other peoples’ drawing, especially these really old ones, because the software has changed and not all of the old stuff updates well. It’s frustrating till I can beat it all into submission.
But I love my job.
Yay for lunch break!!
No, I works for a university, higher education and civil service are pretty much the same here though! The Vice-Chancellor at Bath Uni, who earned about £70,000 a year more than our VC has just been forced to resign over her ludicrious salary. And then we found out our VC was paid an extra £45,000 in bonuses last year. For what, we have no idea.
The university as a whole made a profit of £83m last year but says it can’t afford £3m of that to give the support staff a pay rise in line with the rate of inflation. Thus we protesteth.
Protest away; I know you’re not irking at the same Uni I’m studying with, but our guys are horribly understaffed and support staff are barely there- as in, they’re dealing with 4 different sites, so they just pop in occasionally. It’s seriously down to the lecturers having to drive to another site an hour away to collect stuff like our ID badges, and it took over 2 months for us to get access to the online library.
Comments Have Been Made, but it’s obvious that the staff are just run off their feet. I dunno how much they’re being paid, but it’s obvious that cutting staff costs has gone rampant.
Anyway; only tomorrow, then it’s the last week of term. That’s gone fast!
The pain med made me go back to sleep for a while. I think I shall wait until bedtime to take anymore unless I really do start to feel pain. I can take it up to four times a day but would like to limit it to a couple times a day as I am not fond of takin’ excessive medication and I already have four pills in the mornin’ and one at night as it is. Anywho, I am awake and have meat sauce simmerin’ away in a slow cooker so I have been a little productive.
I’m in that nirvana state where I’m not yet retired, but don’t work too much.
Broadly speaking there are two classes of pilot schedule: Fly 15-20 days a month and get paid by the hour, or sit around on call 14 hours/day times 18 days/month drawing a salary while hoping they don’t call you.
The latter pays less total, but if you have the good fortune or good sense to get into an overstaffed department, it can turn into a pretty cushy life. In an understaffed department it can turn into 18 days of truly ghastly work, mostly the stems and seeds left over from other scheduled pilots’ work. Still for less money.
I’m in a very overstaffed department. Though I hear the sound of a distant waterfall getting louder. The good deal is probably coming to an end by next summer. But not before I’ve wrung every last drop of juice out of it I can. ![]()
Good job swampy. Just like the crock pot you want a steady gentle flow of meds, no boiling over. Sloth in peace.
Did you bring enough for everyone? :dubious:
Glad to hear you’re doing well! I am about 2 weeks out from having a tooth extracted and a temporary bridge installed. Straws are not our friend after having a tooth pulled, could lead to the ugliness called “dry socket”. As the hygienist was going over all that stuff I stopped her and said “Wait - no straw, but I have enough Novocain in me so that I won’t be able to feel my lips all afternoon. What you’re really saying is no drinking anything, at least without copious puddles” (you try saying “copious puddles” with a mouthful of Novocain. Took about 3 tries.). She had to agree.
All’s well here now, though, and the permanent bridge will be installed in another week or so. I may make a miniature replica of the D.O.T. “Bridge Under Repair” sign and prop it on my chin when the dentist walks in.
Or mayhaps I should learn not to taunt people who have the power to cause me pain…
Caution is the better part of valor. :dubious:
My husband has had (I think) 8 spinal surgeries over the last 10 years or so. Two were done by a family friend - my brother’s college roomie became an orthopedic surgeon. Just to set the stage…
Spousal unit did a lot of research prior to his surgeries - even watching YouTube videos of various procedures. Somewhere along the line, he read about patients catching fire in the OR. So, he printed out a sheet that gave the emergency procedures for such an event, and attached them to a pink spray bottle that was labeled “Dr. Bob’s Surgical Fire Extinguisher” and had it with him in the hospital. The PA thought it was hilarious, as did Bob. Unfortunately, the one OR nurse was kinda humor-impaired, and she didn’t get it.
As far as we know, the bottle is still in Bob’s office, tho I hear he’s getting ready to retire. Wonder if he’ll take it home with him?
**FCD **doesn’t want supper tonight, so I’m going to have the last of the N.O.T. soup. Then chillage shall ensue.
