Cyber Monday in the MMP

The first rabies shot is given in the hip. The others in the series in the arm. I apologized profusely to the young nurse who administered it beforehand, and I barely felt a thing. A guy I worked with said that his Father got a shot in the butt, and said something witty about seeing his underwear.
He said it felt as though she had hit him with a hammer.

Good luck with the dental stuff DJ. I hope I never have to do this again. I did manage sketties and meat sauce this evenin’. I did a sallit and garlic bread for OYKW cause I’m nice like that. I think tomorrow I shall attempt hamburger steak with onion gravy, smashed N.O.T. and green beans. All are kind of soft, yet solid, foodstuffs. We shall see.

Evening all;

So I’ve reached the age where doctors want to take a look inside, and thus I experienced my first colonoscopy today. The pre procedure cleansing was miserable, as I am sure those of you who have experienced can attest.

The fun moment was while talking with the anesthesiologist I remarked that no matter how I tried I couldn’t remember anything after a few seconds from when they hit the drugs. She remarked that I would actually be awake awhile longer before passing out, I just wouldn’t remember it.

So I said “I’ll start counting backwards from 100, let me know how far I got when I wake up.”

I remember 97.

She said I got to 7.

Fun times!

I’m glad that your mouth is feeling better swampy. As far as glasses go, I’ve worn them most of my life and am up to trifocals.

I’m getting things done for a craft fair that I reluctantly agreed to on the seventeenth. I also have to put together the craft for the heathen children and go to two holiday parties this weekend. Can we add another two hours to the day?

I went and got my turkey today. The smallest I could find was a 12 pounder. Frozen. It shall live in the fridge until either late Firday or early Sat depending when I plan to cook it. If not thawed then I shall have to do a cold bath.

I meant to tell y’all about my culinary treats on my trip to Jawja. First up was some Chik-fil-et which was good. Next was some awful waffle with scattered and covered hash browns and some gut bombs from Krystal. Popeyes chicken with Cajun rice and mashed and coleslaw. We do not have any of these chains in the Keys. At the airport I had shrimp and grits from a place named Jekyll Island Seafood. That was very tasty.

That was what I et on my Jawja trip. End of book report.

A fine day draws to a close. Irk remained at bay. We had breakfast out, a long beach walk, and I made a T-bone, broccoli, & salad for dinner. Wife enjoyed some leftover turkey stuffing as well.

Then went to the weekly condo cocktail & horsedoofer party. Having just had quality dinner it was easy to skip the unhealthy snacks and concentrate on the cocktails. We had a good turnout with about 25 friends and silly amounts of food to share. They’re good people.

Now some Create TV cooking shows are running in the background while I 'Dope and she knits.

Tomorrow’s big event, irk permitting, is SIL’s church’s production of Handel’s Messiah. As a heathen I religiously avoid churches. I gritted my teeth a couple days ago for the kiddie pageant. But I make a yearly pilgrimage to some performance of the Messiah; In college I’d worked on a production as a sound/lighting tech and it’s got major Christmas nostalgia value for me. My wife’s a singer & musician so she gets a lot out of it too.

Sadly I may get to visit yet another church soon. One of our neighbors had a severe stroke Friday and is still unconscious. The family is gathering and the end seems nigh. One of the side effects of living in a retirement community is regularly seeing up close and personal how retirement comes to an end. Good thoughts your way Donna, wherever you may end up.

My inlaws live in a retirement community in Ocala, and it seems every time we visit, there’s a recitation of who’s died since our last visit, made more apparent by which houses are for sale in the neighborhood. We don’t intend to leave our home till we’re wheeled out. Altho, if my husband dies before me, I might consider an adult apartment complex. Maybe. I’m only 63 - I’ve got time to decide.

Daughter and SIL found out the sex of their baby. And they told us. But it’s staying a secret till she decides to announce. Mainly she’s keeping in quiet because she doesn’t want any sex-specific baby gifts - no all-pink or all-blue. At her shower last week, everything was neutral, and she wants to stay that way - I guess at least till after her workmates give her a shower. I also know the baby’s name. Like us, they chose a name that no one in the family has, and, thankfully, no weird spelling.

My husband, my daughter, and I all have names that have multiple “ordinary” spellings, so we always have to specify when giving our names. I’m glad that, for example, they didn’t decide on Michael, but spelling it Myekkell - and no, the kid isn’t Michael.

Anyway, my day is winding down. I hope I get another good sleep.

Worked, stopped to get beer, came home. Tomorrow is my Firday.

Yeah, better to play it safe

You’re rabid?:dubious: That does explain a few things. :stuck_out_tongue:

Krystal is an inferior White Castle. But Chick-Fil-A and Bojangles are good. Haven’t had Popeye’s yet.

You could always move in with your sis.

Lots of green smileys; are they going w/ Kelly?

If he’s not can we still [del]give him the shots[/del] shoot him?
Fun night! One of the guys in my running club invited me to run w/ another group. Turns out, one of the guys ran against me in HS & one of the other guys who showed up is godparent of one of the kids of a guy who I went to elementary skool with & is friends w/ another guy who lived 5 or 6 houses from where I grew up. Elementary buddy went to college in the South & never came back, living in Etlanter for many years now so it’s not like we’re all in the same neighborhood now. What a small world it is!

Mornin’ all! Tis early on Thu as the last day of Nov begins here in Murrica. Been up since shortly after 5. Jupiter & Arcturus shine brightly in the dark sky to the east. Just a few puffy clouds and no rain overnight. Should be an ideal day to be alive.

Damn edit timeout. Harrumph! As I was typing …

The first round of coffee is on board, irk remains silent, wife remains sound asleep, and slowly, slowly the city awakens. It’s still 40 minutes to dawn and now we’re getting some orange to go with our range of blues. Jupiter’s holding out, but not for long. Venus gets ever closer to the Sun and I won’t see her today. In a few months she’ll be back to being the Evening Star instead.

With luck the madness of the big bad world will just simmer today without boiling over. All the best to everyone.

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Payday, so I have money for the 30 minutes it takes me to pay the bills.:dubious:

185 grains of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Higgs is being groomed today - **FCD **drops her off at 1, and I’ll pick her up on my way home. Not sure what I’ll do about supper - maybe it’s sketty night.

Meanwhile, much to do and not nearly enough time to do it. I need to check with Tim about his deadlines to see if I can meet them. He gave me 6 major assemblies that need a lot of work to purge outdated crap and replace it with the correct crap. None of it’s difficult, but it’s very time-consuming. There are also 5 others he wants next week - I may bump them and do them first. Decisions, decisions…

Happy end of November and Happy Thursday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 50 Amurrkin out and cloudyish with a predicted high of 78 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Another day of Spring in late Autumn. No big plans for the day. I shall do some laundry and mayhaps make a trip to the sto’ for a few provisions. Other than makin’ suppage that’s pretty much my day.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, well, who knows!

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Morning all. It’s double nickles outside (55F) heading for 66F with a 45% of rain. The garbage is out on the kerb and the monthly foraging for food is on the schedule for later today. Got a reminder that Indoor soccer starts on Saturday, so I guess my 2-weekend break is about over.
FCM, no fair, telling us something but then saying “it’s a secret.” We, your loyal friends and fellow MMP’ers *demand * to know if it’s a boy or girl! Because who else can you trust…:eek::eek: ;)

flyboy, I wish I could enjoy mornings more like you. With all the houses and trees surrounding me, been ages since I’ve watched a sunrise. Maybe I need to get up early one day and go somewhere to watch.

**MetalMouse **- I can’t take the chance of someone accidentally slipping up on FB until the kids decide they want to reveal. But I will say I’ve been sending my daughter links to gifts that are EXACTLY what she DOESN’T want! And just think - as resident day care, I get to have all kinds of influence on my grandkid! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

OK, back to work with me.

Woke up this all excited because it is Firday, then remembered. It’s Thorsday. blurf I’m going to try to get a picture of Miss A. for Christmas cards tonight. I’m a lousy photographer and she’s not too cooperative.

Nuts, I feel your pain. I interviewed years ago for a job at my close-to-home university and then found out they wanted someone to do my job at three different sites (two on opposite sides of Wolves and one in Telford) which could mean multiple sites in the same day, or in the same week. We are not so bad here although we have the main campus, then a small bit in Smelly Oak and another chunk out at Ironbridge.

I am doing a tedious job of attaching tutor names to student groups in our records management system. It’s the kind of job you would save for a quiet Friday but I have three meetings tomorrow and then a big thing to prep for next week so I am having my boring Friday job today.

Gigity, I do’nt know whether to be impressed or shocked!

Still page 2? What are we this week ---- slackers?

Oh — that’s right -------- mostly that’s every week.
