Cyber Monday MMP

BBBobbio that’s almost worth a thread bein’ as there are many dopers who appear to be fascinated with WheresGeorge.

We had something Where’s George-worthy at the Faire a couple of weeks ago. Someone placed a cash order with the bank, but ticked the wrong box, and instead of $10,000 worth of fives or whatever they wanted, they got two dollar bills.

It was an intersting study in how money moves on that weekend as patrons were getting twos in their change, and then they’d waste no time getting rid of the things at the nearest opportunity, and then the vendors would unload the funny money on the next unsuspecting customer.

Not surprisingly, the performers who work for tips and pass the hat after their shows had no troubles with keeping them.

Man, I don’t know whether it’s gonna be Gina Torres or Niobe, but somebody’s gonna kick your ass…

when she’s done, can you send her over to kick my ass? great thanks bye…

Up, caffeinated, at irk. Stoopid Starbucks was out of decaf, so I had to drink water with my sammich. What’s the world coming to?

Since it’s Cyber Monday, I shall go online and order a few things.

Raptor Jesus has been notified and deployed to blurf Monday.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Grasshopper, apparently you misunderstand. Raptor Jesus, Teh Babby Jesus, you, me, or Chuck Norris doesn’t matter. Anyone can blurf. This is a blurf.

Home and in domestical mode. I made my first apple pandowdy - it’s in the oven right now and it smells yum! Supper will be steak, cabbage, corn, and the aformentioned applicious dessert.

Got an invite to my former boss’ holiday party - yay! It’s actually a happy hour, so it starts early - double yay! I’m not a late-night partier.

That’s all I’ve got. Just another day in paradise!

Howy from da cave. Home from irk. YAY!!! Gonna go throw a poke tenderloin on the grill and make succotash and wild rice to go with. Should be yum!

I’ve put the last of my 7 entries for the 30 Characters Challenge on that site, some of them on DeviantArt, and scheduled all of them for my site. Now I need to type up everything I wrote this weekend to see if I have a hope of winning Nanowrimo.

I helped two of my friends move yesterday, which was… interesting. Folks, if you move and you want help, have everything boxed up or at least be able to point me towards things to pack. Their stuff is all mixed in with her mother’s, and stuff they want to get rid of, and… Very aggravating.

Why in the sam hill is it 80f in late November? Blurfity blurf blurf

Jim

I thought Monday night was church steak night?

Supper was good. Dessert will be later.

Ew.

I’ll trade you, Cap’n. It barely hit 40 today and I hate winter.

That sounds lovely. I love the cold. The colder it is the better, (sans arctic freeze your face off temps, that is just ridiculous!). I love layering clothes, snuggling under the blankets, and cuddling with my sweetie. Cold weather rocks. Bust out the hot chocolate and fuzzy socks!

Swept & mopped. Worked on the bedroom ( not that you can tell) making carcass soup for dinner.

Mmmmmmmmmmmm. Carcass soup.

Crazy aged disabled Filipino landlady was especially crazy this morning… her smoke alarm was peeping last night, trying to tell us the battery was dying, and she couldn’t hear it from the other end of the house because it was just peeping once or twice every few minutes, rather than full-on alarm mode, which would at least have set off Jackie, her scuffy little yap dog (not to be confused with the other SLYD whose name I don’t know, so I just call him Mr. Toenails; I leave it as an exercise for the reader to figure out why…). Anyway, after one of the other roommates asked her about the smoke alarm and pointed out that it needs a new battery (which she should probably buy…) and it wasn’t going to stop peeping until the battery was replaced, he took down the alarm and removed the battery, which, in the landlady’s mind, is danger about on the level of giving a bunch of children lessons in juggling flaming torches while standing ankle-deep in kerosene. With pirahnas in it.

So, anyway, I got up this morning and was making my toast & coffee and she came in and told me to be very careful with the stove because the smoke alarm wasn’t working, and a previous tenant had almost burned her house down by leaving a skillet with oil in it going for too long and the oil caught fire (I had been wondering about exactly how you can stain granite countertops that badly… now I know), so I needed to be especially carefully and not burn down her house.

I didn’t bother mentioning that I’M NOT COOKING IN HER HOUSE, because coffee. Anyway. Then she asked me if I could take all my food out of the kitchen (1/2 loaf of bread, 4 bananananas, ziploc bag of Equal, and a box of ziploc bags) and keep it in my room, because she’s going to be having a big party (… and her guests are going to go rummaging through the cupboards in search of the makings of peanut butter & banana sandwiches? I don’t know…) so I took that stuff to my room so all the ants will end up there rather than the kitchen. She also said her refrigerator was getting really full and did my insulin really have to be in there so I told the retired NURSE that YES.

However, to be fair, I had been forgetting to take the effectively-empty peanut butter jar out of the fridge and clean it so I can repurpose it for storing cashews or pen nibs or something like that and she was shocked, SHOCKED, I tell you, that I would clean something like that out and reuse it rather than toss it.

So, now my shelves are full.

Good grades, phone service, and good meals are good.

Bad weather, Monday blahs, and sharing living space with the sanity-impaired, not good.

Nice weather here today, windows are open, cat’s under the bed (this is normal for her when the windows are open. Weird cat). Unreasonably low energy level today, so not a lot of productivity. The dishwasher’s being run and Her Majesty’s litterbox has been serviced. Also managed to go to OfficeMax to pick up some plastic folders I needed, to replace paper ones that just don’t hold up in bookbags and such. Did not manage to remember the erasers I needed for my mechanical pencils while there (sigh).

Amazing how five different channels on Music Choice can all manage to be playing songs I don’t want to listen to.

Today is beautiful-- sunny and cool with lots of fall color. I’m savoring it because a week of rain starts moving in tomorrow. Right now I’m focusing on my phone. It’s running hot and the battery is draining quickly, even when turned off. At Verizon the guy disabled a bunch of stuff then I left it to charge. When I started to use it the same thing happened, plus the keyboard wasn’t working. Let’s hope this reboot worked.

Why am I going on about such stuff? I have no idea but I suspect denial. My sister called Saturday night to tell me our mom had died and so far I haven’t been sad, just sort of feeling pretty much as always. It could be that I’ve been mourning since her dementia took her away or it’s not real because it happened far away and since everything is taken care of it’s sort of like it didn’t happen. No friends or family to contact no arrangements to make, no memorial service, just nothing. I’ll just keep a mental eye on myself.

MOOOOOOM Men’s Night over to the church house is the third Monday of the month unless it’s not then it might be the fourth Monday. Sometimes we get all willy-nilly like that.

Dindin turned out good. Go Me! OYKW had to leave cause he needs to deal with some irksome irk stuff bein’ as it’s gettin towards the end of the month, poor thing.

Ethi wow! Fun place there.

{{{A[sup]2[/sup]}}} so sorry about your mom. We’re here if you need us, ok?

oooh, {{{{{{A2}}}}}

{{{A2}} I am so sorry :frowning:

I came in to bitch that life is just NOT giving me and MrTao a single break, as our only car just broke down AGAIN, the day before my interview <which is 50 miles away>, but instead I will appreciate the fact that I got to call my mom and rant about the car while she laughed with me about how California REALLY hates me, and I should just get the hell out now. And now she’s going to be listening to her brand new cell phone go ‘beep beep beep’ at her for a week, until I can get there and show her how to check her messages, lmao.
