Cyberpunk 2077 release discussion

I was finally able to play the secret ending, where you just stroll into Arasaka Tower through the front door, all by yourself. Recommended. Don’t forget to bring guns. Lots of guns.

I gave in and bought the game for PC. I am still finishing The Outer Worlds for the next week or so, but did install and load up this game to see how it would run. I got into the game and drove around for a minute.

I started(I may replace this start) as a Nomad.

Was there no opening cutscene? I just was in the garage trying to get my car fixed and all the sudden, I was on my way to a telecom tower and even asked the mechanic about someone named “Jackie Wells” or something as if I(the player) had already seen a scene that indicated who that is.

Did I miss something that indicated:

  • who Jackie Wells might be
  • why I’m looking for a telecom tower
  • why I’m on my way to Night City

Or does this all become clearer later. Like via flashback or something?

You didn’t miss anything - just push forward.

FWIW CD Projekt Red delayed their patch a couple weeks ago saying it was too big and would release late(ish) March.

You may want to wait for that patch. It is presumably a great big one.

If I’m still playing, will it negatively impact my game by being patched during my play-through?

I do not know but I would not be surprised if the new patch breaks old games.

It might not though. Usually they don’t want that to happen but sometimes it does.

In short…no one knows yet and won’t till it drops.

FWIW:

@Whack-a-Mole

Thanks, I’ll consider waiting, but I bet I won’t be able to!

I hear ya.

To stop myself I deleted the whole game.

A bit extreme, I know, but I did it so it will force me to wait. The download is huge so I won’t go back till I think they have sorted things out pretty well.

That’s just me though. YMMV

Why? Did it not work well for you? I heard PC was actually pretty stable and finished compared to console releases.

It worked fine for me. I was enjoying it (really).

I just want the better experience. I felt the game was lacking in some ways (if you read upthread it seemed I argued for more penises but it was more nuanced than that).

So, I made a difficult choice to ditch my current game and wait in hopes of a better experience.

As it happens I am one of those people who has a lot of unplayed games I have acquired over the years from sales and freebies and whatnot so I am not lacking for things to occupy my time. That allows me to forego Cyberpunk (still was tearing a bandaid off…hurt a bit).

You wanted butts too?

I like them too but, jokes aside, I was hoping for something more Blade Runner and less Saints Row (and, FTR, I love Saints Row).

I got you. I too am a Saints Row fan but that’s not what I expect from a Cyberpunk game either.

Is it true I can not modify my physical looks throughout the game. I’m not talking clothing; I mean hair, nails, makeup, etc.

It is true. And bizarre. I’m guessing it was a “No time to get that in” feature when they were trying to get the game out the door.

There’s mods you can use if you’re unhappy with how you look although, again, it really should have just been in game considering that you’re getting pop-out Mantis Blades installed in your arms.

Played about 1 hour in, doing the training module Jackie gave me. I had one glitch already and I checked a youtube video and can see it was a glitch.

After I left the Nav-Radio-Tower in my first mission, there was a guy sitting in mid-air in the middle of the road. I hit him and had to reload because it sent off red flags(I killed him).

Here is the exact glitch, though I was coming the other way.

I am just entering Act 1 after the prologue. I just shot my way through the first real mission, though afterwards I realized I could have hacked the radios and stuff.

Bit of a slow start, but I am optimistic. I’ll find out how the game really runs once I drive around the city, I guess. Seems adequate now. My video card recommended settings(it has an app that does that) and I updated its drivers. Game seems to basically be running.

Does this game have missions that totally require stealth or is violence always an option?

I don’t remember any missions that require stealth as in you otherwise fail the mission, but you can make your clients unhappy and not get your bonus if stealth is what they asked for, and also if you screw up stealth you may find yourself surrounded by a mob of high-level enemies. E.g., you can go up to the front door of a building, take out the guards, and try to blast your way upstairs while being flanked by reinforcements, or you can go into the alley around back, hack the window shutter so it opens, climb up into the target’s office, take them out, and sneak back out without raising the alarm.
