Cyberpunk 2077 release discussion

I’m starting to work on a theory that Johnny from Johnny Mnemonic becomes Johnny Silverhand…

When the bad guys are down but still alive your reticle turns red when pointed at them.

Yes. At least the game gave me the option though I elected not to continue playing.

I concur. I’m on a PC and haven’t experienced any game ending glitches. It’s a decent enough game with my main disappointment being that it didn’t live up to the hype. But I appreciate being able to see one of my favorite pen & paper RPGs from the early 90s come to life.

Yeah, I’m not seeing anything beyond normal gltches. Given the bad press and their stock dropping 41% since release, I’m wondering if the studio survives.

Huh, interesting. Looks like it only works with certain weapons (including just hands). If you have no weapon, or something with a scope, it doesn’t work. I almost never have a weapon out, so I didn’t notice. Thanks!

Soooo, I just received this game as a gift out of the blue. I’m on OG xbox1. Is it gonna be 'orrible? Anyone here with first hand og xbox experience?

By all accounts it will be terrible for you.

That doesn’t mean you can’t give it a try and report back to us.

But I would be shocked if you had a good experience with it on that system. I’d be surprised if it worked at all.

I like to think I’m fairly tolerant of minor to medium bugs and glitches, having worked in software support for years…and for games I get for free. But I will definitely give it a shot and report back with my findings in the next week or so.

If you want minor bugs and glitches play the PC version. The consoles are having a much rougher go of it.

I’m heavily entrenched in the State of Decay 2 community (like 1700 hours played), and on reddit there are sooo many bitchy whiners about the dumbest of shit that you’d think the game was unplayable, but in my experience the issues they whine about are so very minor and rare.

But, that was a small developer. CP2077 apparently is huge with a AAA budget, yeah? I haven’t put to much effort into keeping up with this project. But, for free, I look forward to giving it a solid assessment.

Well…CP77 seems to really need some horsepower in the system it runs on.

I have a good PC for this and it doesn’t seem to tax the system that bad at all but on older consoles it seems to be chugging.

I am a little unclear on what XBox version you have but, so far, this game seems to perform badly on all of them except the very newest consoles and kinda ok on PS4 Pro.

As always, YMMV

Sorry, I’ll de-reddit slang it. OG=Original (Gangsta?) Xbox1. 1st gen xbox1. So probably the worst.

That’s what I thought.

Given the struggle the more modern systems are having I am not liking your chances.

But do it for science!

I’m definitely in for free!

Let us know. I’ve heard it has massive problems on that system and the base-OG-PS4, but would love to hear thoughts from someone using it.

I gotta finish up a project I’m working on in SOD2 (for those who care/know, getting the 4th/last legacy boon in the new lethal difficulty) before I play this, but that should be in a day or two…or three.

Eta: which is the biggest reason why I can’t commit fully to your mafia game this go around, as much as I love them. Sorry!

After more research it seems that cursors still turn red if the bad guy is dead or alive…TBH given the other issues that need fixing, this can wait. The main quest issue that I ran into is more problematic to me.

I spoke too soon! Not long after posting I fell through Night City. I went through the ground and was suddenly upside down and above Night City falling, the game would reload, and I would continue falling and this repeated itself until I loaded a saved game. Still, only the first one for me.

While I hope this doesn’t kill the studio, I do hope it serves as a wake up call. I’m getting a little tired of people defending studios who release buggy products. A few bugs isn’t entirely unreasonable, even Witcher 3 has bugs after all these years, but I’m tired of studios releasing games that aren’t ready. I regret purchasing this game on day one. Not because it’s unplayable but simply because I don’t want to reward a company for releasing a faulty product.

I wonder about the difference between Witcher 3 and CP77.

Is this an investor thing? For Witcher 3 they were a private studio then they went public after and now have pressure from shareholders? (actually I forget the timeline but I think for Witcher 3 they were still in artist mode and not appease shareholders mode).

I really do not know. But it does seem as they have grown they have lost their indie, lets make something great, vibe to let’s make money vibe.

That pretty much never turns out well for a game.
