I need to walk that one back. I do not know when they went public.
the problem on that is it’s based on a much loved early 90s table-top RPG and people thought they were getting an updated version of that and well so far it seems they didnt
This reminds me of when Shadowrun came out for the SNES and Sega genesis… the SNES version had the better story but was basically a point and click game and the sega version was extremely faithful to the FASA tabletop game but had almost no story and had the infamous progression system the original MechWarrior game did (the story could be beaten in 45 minutes as long as you didn’t do the side missions … because the more you leveled up the more difficulty scaled …sort of like they have almost no-kill Skyrim games … if you dont level up the last guys are cake …
There have been a lot of article about what went wrong. Apparently, the marketing department ran wild and didn’t listen to the developers who were saying they were over promising. Also, a lot of the developers wanted to abandon older generation consoles early in the process, but management didn’t listen. Here’s a pretty good article from the Times.
Hmm, it’s getting a little depressing that there may never be any DLC content, and seems like at a minimum a couple years off.
So I played up through the tutorial so far and…aside from a janky shadow here and there and some very minor texture pop ins, this game 100% playable on xbox1. I dunno if it’s fun yet though. But it’s interesting…so far.
Let us know how performance is in more crowded areas especially during combat. But yeah I hear it’s only the Playstation that’s unplayable.
I have every bit of faith that they will repair this. I mean… they put The Witcher 3 on Switch. They can run Cyberpunk on PS4. I’m hoping that won’t mean development for the PC version stops. I think since they’ll want to push the next gen console versions pretty hard those upgrades will hit PC too. dlc will have to wait.
OK, this is weird - I seem to be capped at around 25 FPS since the update I just downloaded this morning. What gives?
Playing on PC? I just jumped off a session, and had no issues with anything that. Check for GPU drivers? Or maybe do a full file integrity scan, I have heard of a lot of people having things go wonky somewhere in the incremental patching process.
Yeah, PC. I let GEFORCE try and optimize it and it messed with all my settings including resolution; after fixing it the steam overlay still says I get 25 fps but it feels smoother than that (and I don’t notice any difference in graphics quality, lol)

Apparently they became fully owned by a public company in 2010. That company had no other operations at the time but apparently had the cash to buy them I guess. The company then changed its name to the current one in 2011. This was before even Witcher 2 was released.
If you’re playing on an Nvidia card using DLSS, there’s a simple tweak you can make to add sharpness to your images. I tried it and I think it helped. It didn’t hurt performance and it certainly doesn’t make the image any worse but I’m not about to start doing a bunch of before and after shots to see if it’s actually better or a placebo effect. Probably also depends on what level of DLSS you’re using; maybe less noticeable impact at Quality than Performance?
I have a GTX 1070 so no DLSS for me
Night City’s fixers would probably command more respect if they could stop trying to pawn off used cars on me like they gotta make rent this week.
“V, I hear you’ve entered my neighborhood. There’s nothing I don’t see or don’t know about what goes on here. But I might be able to use a person like you so think about contacting me. Also, do you need a used station wagon? Minivan? Hatchback? Hit me up!”
Yeah, The car area is definitely one of the weird parts of the game. They put a shitload of time into designing a lot of different cars, but obviously were forced to cut short driving mechanics polishing, or any real sense of having them integrated into the game meaningfully.
I nailed a guy to a cross today. He was pretty cool about it, considering. Weird game.
-Roman Soldier, circa 30 AD - Probably
Did you say “degenerates like you belong on a cross”?
I was riding around on my motorcycle, minding my own business, when some pantsless guy flagged me down and begged me to take him to a street doc before his malfunctioning penile implant exploded.
Yeah, I got that one too. Still waiting for the follow-up.
Are there known to be follow-up missions concerning that guy, or was it a one-off side quest? I got a phone call from him later in which he thanked me and transferred my money, and that was the conclusion of the original mission.
