Indeed there are few now - and were few ever - wiser and more learned than Celeborn, but I thought simply that it would give him pleasure to see something that was made when he was young.

Glorfindel may know more about it; the piece has some ties with Gondolin, which was no more than rumour to Celeborn for most of its existence, but which Glorfindel remembers well.

Tall and stately he may be, incidentally, but according to legend King Elwe Singollo, or Elu Thingol, surpassed him as grandly as Glorfindel surpasses me. But of this Celeborn indeed could give accurate report, who was a lesser lord when Thingol was the King of Doriath and knew him well for many centuries.

Thingol was indeed said to be “the tallest of all the Children of Ilúvatar” and I believe Galadriel was said to be 6’4" and Celeborn was taller yet.

Glorfindel’s height was never listed but I didn’t perceive Elwe to tower over him. I would think Elu Thingol would not be much over 7’ and I just decided that based on Tolkien describing Glorfindel as tall for the Elves that 6’10" would be about right. Any clues to Elu Thingol’s actual height?

Actually Elendil the Tall was well over 7’ as I recall. I found a note that Elendil was 2.5 rangar or around 7’11". This means I might actually be shorting Glorfindel and Thingol must be over 8’ tall. :eek:

Aragorn was 6’6" and the tallest of the Fellowship though Boromir was apparently broader at 6’4".

Should I adjust Glorfindel’s height even taller? He was considered tall among Turgon’s captains. Turgon was the second tallest of the Children of Ilúvatar after Thingol. So he too had to be 8’+.

I’m trying to avoid any NPC posts to the game thread until all the players have a chance to respond to the request for help from Bofur.
