The hut might be useful if we have a badly-wounded member of the party who needs to be kept out of the snow and cold, or as a shelter into which a few people could go at a time to get warm, even if it obviously could not accommodate the entire party at the same time.
I decided to swap it out for Sending, which if the party is separated could be useful.
Similarly, Bitur has Rope Trick available.
I don’t bother preparing it because it only fits up to 8 medium sized creatures.
And even in 5th edition it probably still suffers from the Haversack/Bag of Holding/Portable Hole issue.
Remind me, does Gwaelurs helm provide light for everyone or just him? Does he have to activate it or does it turn on automatically?
If he has to activate it does he have time to light it up before the action starts or does he have to use one of his actions in combat to get it lit up?
Either way in combat he will use GWM feat with precision strike manouver and action surge.
If he has time for a menacing attack with his cross bow before the Drake arrives he will do that first.
The helm will glow at will so no action or bonus action required.
As you go after the Drake, we’ll see how far it is from you, if still within 30’. you’ll want to melee attack.

In many ways the ravine was actually a bad place to camp, but no one had any reason to know that. This is a strange and nasty drake.

I’m +7 over the Drake, so can I get a Conjure Animals off before being breathed on?
If so, I’'ll go for a Polar Bear appearing right in front of the Drake (and hope it blocks / lessens the breath weapon.)
If there’s not enough time to cast, can I run out of range? (I really don’t want to be breathed on!)
Excellent, If you win initiative and the spell only requires an action, you can cast it. 5e simplified this. Conjure Animals is a 1 action spell, so you’re good to go.
Does the bear get an opportunity attack on the Drake as it floats out of the threatened area of the bear?
No, generally speaking a push, pull or even levitate won’t induce opportunity attacks.
(I figured Searing Smite would be a fun effect to use in this fight, because a cold-based creature that’s on fire is always entertaining.

@NAF1138, the Drake is out of reach, you can shoot 1 bolt at it and if you action surge a second bolt. Is that what you want to do?
I can use my menacing attack with my crossbow. So yeah, let’s shoot him a couple of times and weaken him further.
