I wasn’t planning on including Druids as PCs, but we can say that you are an outlander - perhaps a Welsh or Irish druid picked up on a far-ranging raid, who either had reasons for wanting to ship out or was taken prisoner and has gradually been working his way out of thralldom. Alternatively, would you consider being a wizard or a rune-priest? They’re acceptable career choices for the less sturdy Viking, and it means we don’t have to start finding exceptions to the rules as soon as we start.

a)What’s a Rune-Priest? A cleric, more or less?
b)Umm… I’m already playing a wizard here. I’d rather branch out a little.

Hey everyone, I will be out of town from this Saturday to next Saturday, and my internet access will be spotty-to-nonexistent. Seeing how Theogrim doesn’t talk much, and seems to spend most battles standing next to Gwaelur and Thoroncir, I was wondering if my fighting brethren would mind helping me out in my absence. As always, my goals are to support the party strategy, to killkillkill, and to make sure Deor isn’t put into any more danger than is necessary for the aforementioned strategy.

Would that be OK?

My congrats to the players on a well executed counter attack making best use of the tools available. Very well done.

The players have a couple of tough decisions now.

Almost no spells left. Some party members getting tired and more than one trail to follow if the trackers cannot locate one near here.

There was the suggestion of splitting up made by Caramir.

You might also need to send a messenger back to give a progress report.

Good point. I nominate Malacandra, who seems to have a good head on his shoulders and is playing far and away the seniormost member of the party (Gil-Gandel), as head honcho.

I’m happy with that too.

I think that we will often use Mulligan, Gil-Gandel (and sometimes Brin) to scout / flank; two from Theogrim / Gwaelur / Thoroncir at the front; Deor and Ghân in the middle; Moose and the other fighter at the rear.

As a player I agree that this is the best choice. As a character I find it very frustrating that the party is being led by and Elf, even if it is one I have recently gained a grudging respect for.

Think of it this way, he’s only leading because he is standing at the front

The problem with an Elf taking an arrow shot is that you’ll be regaled with the vintage of the shaft and it’s seasonal history of its tree before becoming an arrow. You’ll be dead of boredom before the Elf passes from blood loss.

These Elves you’re so familiar with - did they have wrinkly brown skin, grow leaves and say “hoom” all the time? You’ve got some mighty funny ideas from somewhere.

Quick question, Jim. I’m working on the assumption that arrows are being replenished via the stocks of fallen enemies between battles. I haven’t been keeping count.

I just want to be sure know if we are both working on the same assumption.

For you and the other men that will be easy. There has been enough arrows about to replenish. Besides, caves usually = blade work and not bow work.

Gil-Gandel is better with proper arrows of his own making.
