D & D on the Straight Dope setup thread. (In Middle Earth FA63)

Anyone got a spare Mumakil

But men are…well…men. There’s never been a military that didn’t need…entertainment…in their down time. But maybe the Men of Middle Earth aren’t quite as randy as their real-world counterparts.

I see, we get underaged entertainment for the moose, but nothing for the players.

What happens in the City of the Corsairs, stays in the City of the Corsairs.

I think I missed this one.

Didn’t want to respond in the other thread.

Gil-Gandel values quality over quantity. He got laid just the other day[sup]1[/sup], enjoyed it very much, and is content for now.

[sup]1[/sup]~150 years ago by most other people’s definitions, but time just flies when you’re basking in the afterglow

That explains a lot, Elf. You need a side trip to Osgiliath more than I do.

I’m working on that…

What Exit? and glee, well said about Minas Tirith. It really is a completely idealized city, with more than a little of the mythical, holy Jerusalem evoked in Tolkien’s wonderful description of it.

I remember on the LOTR DVD extras, one of the set designers showed that they created a small, hanging wrought-iron sign for a ratcatcher on the Minas Tirith set, too small and inconspicuous to be noticed on the silver screen. At the time I was vaguely troubled… rats? In Minas Tirith? Not there - impossible! (Even though rats have probably been wherever humans have lived since the dawn of time, no matter how wonderful the city.)

Minas Tirith is just in a class all by itself. It’s one of my favorite fictional places. I think I could live very happily there, and not just because of my username.

I am hoping everyone checks by tonight for equipment.

I want to start the new thread soon and close the first out.

**One favor of the players. Please send me by PM or email what you bought or donated and what you have left of gold. I will adjust your gold on my master PC sheet to keep it up to date. **

I think the only thing left to ready the next adventure is some Elven Rope and the additional Healer character.

Who was looking for rope?

Let me know if there is anything else.

Gwaelur is in a giving mood and is willing to buy certain items for party members who need a little help getting everything they need. I might not be able to help everyone out, but some of you are close to broke. So let me know, and let me know soon if you want to take Gwaelur up on the offer.

Before I end up as crazy as everyone else (or perhaps separate my own brand of craziness even farther away from everyone else’s brands), does everyone understand Moose, or only the Wose druid?

These men have lived under the shadow of Mordor for years.
They have seen Ogres, Trolls, Mumakil and even Nazgul attack their city.
They have seen an undead army, a Wizard and a King come to help them.

This is not the real World.

Ah, but when Denethor the Steward was quietly going mad, the city was in decline. Rats would have been a symptom of that…

The Druid always understands him. Usually Moose is talking only to him. Occasonally he says something in very basic short Westron.

In that case, I want to find a clean, fresh water source, because something fermented in whatever we filled our bottles with last time!

Maybe not, but what is driving the current baby boom if not a bunch of really horny, testosterone-filled men returning from war? (Actually, given Eowyn’s pursuit of Aragorn, maybe the boom is being fueled by the women)

Plentiful food, full employment and available housing? Minas Tirith had room to spare during the War.

That will drive immigration.

After a war, there are likely fewer men than women, so nearly every single guy can find a single or widowed gal. So as long as this horribly good-two-shoes city doesn’t have guys looking simply for quick hook-ups (see Spitzer, Eliot), most guys won’t have an issue finding a mate, and may find themselves in the position of having choices.

Thoroncir already has someone in mind, as it happens…

Anyhow, are we all basically ready to proceed? Deor is set.
