Most likely a Bald or a Golden eagle (those are basically your options in the US). We see a Bald just about every year during the migration, but I’ve only seen a Golden once. But we’ve had a pair of red-tails nesting at the bottom of the driveway for a few years now (long, windy, gravelly country driveway) and I got to watch a kestrel eating a rat on a fencepost last year. You’re absolutely right; there’s a reason I picked a hawk familiar.

We’ve got kestrels at Rutland Water near me.
(I’d like to add that a wingspan is measured from wingtip to wingtip.)

You need to put a smiley in to show you are joking (and even if this is a joke, you’ve already made it once).
Otherwise I’ll post that I’m currently bedridden recovering from a serious operation…
…or not.

After being tied with a ball and chain to a laptop all week long, I look forward to a little time away. When I check at the end of the weekend, I feel I’ve missed a whole gaming session. All of my good sarcastic asides would now come on conversation two days old!

Wait, you mean you have good sarcastic asides?
I don’t think much happened over the weekend. It was more setting up and moving along. I left time and room for players to still go, “Wait, I wanted to look into picking up a special widget.” I only took the game as far as where we are back on our own. I wanted to give a decent description of what is happening.

You wound me, good sir. You wound my delicate sensibilities. The pain of your words questioning my wit are almost as hurtful as Friday night’s Yankee game.

Aye, that was a harsh blow. I almost added, in response to Glee, that you are usually kidding unless it concerns baseball. We’ll have to start an April Baseball thread. The roughly monthlies we had last year worked well.
I’ll give players through the morning to make last minute posts and then get the party up into the foothills and potential trouble.
I vote walk in- horses aren’t exactly stealthy and stealth is our biggest asset against H-Ks.
I’m fine with having both Renee and myself invisible- she’ll stick near Ghan, I’ll range around. Theogrim shouldn’t need to know where I am until I’m visible anyway.
So what was the decision, ride in to the hills or march?
Anyone else feel like weighing in on the invisibility debate?
I don’t think I can proceed until these two are resolved. Sorry for the delay.
I also prefer walking in, but then Gwaelur is just more comfortable on foot.
I have no thoughts on the invisibility debate unfortunatly. I am protecting Ghan so I suppose there is a risk that I might mistake one of our party for an invisible attacker and react reflexivly, but I think the risk is small.
Hmm, I think maybe I should respond in thread after all.
Close call as to invisibility - it’d be easier for Thoroncir to protect Renee if he could see her, but overall she’d be safer if she were invisible. On balance, probably best if she remained invisible and moved to the rear when fighting breaks out, so he could focus entirely on the enemy.
If we ride, will the terrain offer significant coverage for the horses so that they are not in the open but can still eat when we must switch to foot? If not, I’ll vote for foot and hoof. Perhaps Moose will allow Renee to ride…poor Renee. I wonder if she’ll have as much difficulty as I am in accepting a talking Moose.
As for Invisibility, I’m against it until we are to a point where we will need it. Otherwise, it is a hassle, unless we want to do the Claude Rains thing. I thought Renee was as good as invisible to begin? I’d say make the hawk invisible, but the first rat it spies and it is gone.

You can probably get another 10 miles closer if you want with the horses. This will be the easiest march anyway. Probably quite doable in 4 hours. Gil-Gandel’s plan for the horses being led by Cúran is sound, but they may be safer yet with the calvary.
If the rest of you are walking, Renee will insist on walking.
She already appears to talk to her cat, so an occasionally talking Moose should not be much harder.
Speaking of Moose, he will stand out a bit. Perhaps he should plan to stay behind with the horses if you are hoping for stealth.

Gwaelur, are you ready for stealth mode?

Does stealth mode mean I have to take off my armour? Because, um, I don’t wanna.
