D & D on the Straight Dope setup thread. (In Middle Earth FA63)

Yes, she was a good 10’ back. She also does not wish to be to far back as we now have an unprotected back of the party.

Signing off for now. Good luck, everyone! See you Monday morning.

Back again, earlier than I expected…

I need a little help. The game needs some clear directives and then what is next.

A reminder, most of the spiders still remain.

At least 3 orcs are escaping as we argue.

The signal fire is built but not lit.

This appeared to be the smallest of the orc groups that we trailed.

The Spell casters need rest. Final healing needs to be done, possibly mixing in herbal healing where possible.

The party needs to decide if they wish to search the chambers for more loot.

Dusk will be giving way to dark soon.

We need to catch the escaping orc. I would say that is priority one. Can me, one other fighter and Brin (for tracking) catch them and take them out?

I would say that everyone else needs to get out of the caves ASAP.

Final decisions lie with Mal and glee, but that is my perspective.

Suits me.

Sorry for not saying much at the mo.

Did I find any other Orcs in the rest of the complex while looking around?

My take: Leave the spiders and the loot for the mo. Those we can always come back for. Once the Orcs are gone, we head back to the cave we found earlier on and rest.

100 Orcs is the smallest group, oh boy, do we have our work cut out for us. :dubious:

Leave the loot?

Leave the loot?!

I’m having trouble processing that thought. You NEVER leave the loot. Loot is what it is all about! More loot, more loot, more loot!

Some halfling you are.

Good thing Brin isn’t here in this thread to contradict me.

Rule number one of Treasure Hunting: It’s no use to you if you are dead.

If you know where it is you can always come back and get it.

If you know who is going to take it, you can always take it off them. In some cases, its easier to let others gather it up for you to save you having to search for it.

I know exactly where the loot is, but I am not bothering to carry it all at this point in time. Why overburden yourself?

The Hobbit speaks rightly, methinks.

There’s no sense walking into an ambush, though- letting those three orcs escape may get the whole bunch of the rest chasing after us. If we fade into the night and let the orcs mobilize, we may be able to pick them off as they search, rather than attack them in their stronghold.

Let’s clear out this den (except the spiders, I think) and call it a day. There’s not much left.

Looks like our Elf-captain has decided otherwise.

Yes. I think we need to try to make it through the night uninterrupted. Once there are large numbers of Orcs roaming around in country familiar to them and not to us, we could get worn down without a proper chance to recover and reload. If we can dispose of our first hundred without being badly hurt, and start afresh without the enemy being generally aware of our presence, I think we’ll have done a good day’s work.

I wonder if we might just close this thread? Seems like it’s not being used or even read all that often, and most non-narrative issues are being addressed in the game thread anyway.

I’m still here. I need a place to make my OOC comments, and would rather not clutter the other thread with my witticisms (sadly, I’m usually the only one who finds them witty).

I read it every day, and do my best to post non narrative questions here. Everything I post in the main thread I attempt to be from the perspective of my character. Here I am posting as me.

I think this thread is worth having around- there are going to be long, OOC conversations necessary, so we should keep it available. It sometimes doesn’t get posts for a week and that’s fine, but we should keep the option.

Agreed.

I am stuck waiting on **Gil-Gandel ** in the Game thread. I left it at a cliff-hanging moment.

I know, and it is killing me! Hurry up Mal, get off your British Time butt and get in here!

He’s there now, and rather… sticky.
