Have a good trip!
I’m suddenly so glad for the armour upgrade I recently got.
Mulligan would be glad to hear it.
So now you have!
Hey all, I am going away for a long weekend and will be back Tuesday. I may be able to post from my phone, I may not. In the meantime I trust What Exit? to play Gwaelur if necessary.
Have fun. I think both Dwarves should stay put for now anyway. The rest of the day is likely to be about tall folk that can and will ride quick. I’m sure you’ll be back before we get to day two of the War in Goblin Gate.
A small exchange occurred between **Glee **and I today that made me think to post here.
I welcome player input into the development of their characters and where they are headed. This could be like the subplot of Thoroncir and Gilraen or where I modify rules for game play in Middle-Earth and on the Dope.
The herb system I use in the table top game is too cumbersome for on-line and Glee and I worked out a simple and effective replacement. Today we reworked the Call Woodland Beings to work in Middle-Earth. It now summons exceptional animals instead of Centaurs and the ilk.
Where possible, use this thread, PMs and Email to work with me to where you would like to see your character develop.
As I just PM’d to Glee,
Question:
Does anyone else start to think of the players by their character names instead of their username? (I find myself doing that often.)
Depending on the player, yes. Elendil’s Heir/Thoroncir are the ones that I do this with the most. There have been a few times when I have started to respond to something EH has said in an unrelated thread by calling him Thoroncir.
I can’t for the life of me keep CatInASuit and Mulligan straight between Rogue Racer and Elfstan. Just can’t seem to get the distinction to stick in my mind. Elendil’s Heir, for some reason, seems as though the player should be an Elf in my mind, though I’m keeping that straighter lately. ShadowFacts is easy; it’s a great name for a Rohirric Paladin.
Sorry for the delay. The last two days were a little crazy. We had no heat since early Sunday morning and needed an oil delivery* and then a manual priming of the oil pump to get it back. I was tending the small wood stove we have through Sunday night (early Monday AM) and had only about 3 hours sleep. Everything is back to normal now and I will update the game thread shortly with the first signs of those that you seek to clear.
- The sad part is we are suppose to have auto delivery. I also had to change out the nozzle and filter on Sunday. Both things basically new to me. To prime the oil pump I had to stop and pick up a gallon can of Kerosene so I could load the filter container and give the pump a local supply to build up the flow from the main tank. This took two tries of course. It was very pleasant to have the house back to normal this morning.
Couple of my friends recently discovered that their landlord had not refilled their oil tank over the summer, and ran out when it was about -6 (-20 for you Glee) for a week. Their house got so cold they unplugged their refrigerator because it was cold enough in the kitchen to freeze water in glasses and turn olive oil into sludge. Bad times!
Just got our PBS guide for March. Ian McKellen will star in the title role in a broadcast of Shakespeare’s King Lear. It’ll air here on March 25 from 8-11pm; check your local listings.
More details:
But this might, um, be disappointing for some fans:
Perfect role for him - I’ve got to check that out. Thanks for the heads up.
He opened that show at least two years ago- a friend of mine flew to England for the weekend to see it. She said it was wonderful.
A question about Gwaellur’s helm.
Since Gwaellur has been paralyzed, would it be possible (or even proper) for Bitur to grab the helm and use it temporarily for our current fight since if there’s a chance it could be recharged (though, Gilraen is clearly otherwise occupied, and with a more important matter) while he wears it it could come in useful since we probably won’t be able to help gwaellur much until things settle down?
The blast has been used but the other abilities would help. I can’t speak to if Gwaelur would approve or be upset. Dwarves are typically proud but also fairly practical in combat. I don’t think the other Dwarves would think less of you but I open the question to the other Tolkien fans too.
Speaking as Gwaelur, I wouldn’t have a problem with Bitur using the helm, but might have a problem with someone else messing with it.
I do not know if Bitur would know this or not (stupid freeze keeping me from posting in the game thread proper just as things are getting dangerous. I will so kill those undead if I wake up. )
All right, I’ll take the helm for now then, figuring Gwaellur would understand and knowing that if our situations were reversed, I would have no issues with him doing the same.
After all, if the party doesn’t survive, the helm won’t be of much use to anyone at that point.
If Gwaellur has a problem with the action, (which though I as a player now know he won’t, but Bitur as a character would not), Bitur will cross that bridge when it he comes to it. He’s managed to talk down much worse things in his life than a possibly annoyed fellow dwarf.
I know it was a couple of days ago so I am not going to post this to the main thread but:
That may have been the coolest thing my character has done in any of these adventures.
We are certainly much obliged to you, sir!
