D & D on the Straight Dope setup thread. (In Middle Earth FA63)

Sounds fine by me.

So what do you have in mind for the rest of us in the future outline, or would that be telling?

It’s all fine by me - I trust you!

Ghân wonders if the next adventure will be rather dangerous for his companion, little Brownie the Owl (just 7 hp).
Would it make sense to end the spell Animal Friendship and offer Brownie a home with Radagast?

None of this is in stone, just rough ideas.

It would be telling, but Mulligan should eventually marry and settle somewhere. This would potentially allow you to play a descendant. I had some hopes she would start and lead a new Hobbit Colony where Gilraen and Thoroncir setup.

Leading us to:

Thoroncir has the chance to end up a Duke level Noble and Consort to a Princess in charge of a region of Arnor/Gondor with a low population. He could also just end up a senior officer in the Navy of Gondor.

Gil-Gandel will eventually go over the sea.

Ghân will be part of a powerful council of Druids that will do acts like bring the Brown Lands and Mordor back to life and maybe lead a quest to find the EntWives. In the end, this council will allow Radagast to return home or at least retire. He won’t be the first Great Druid, but he will help the first to retire into the step above and probably be the second Great Druid.

Gwaelur and Bitur retire and come out of retirement to help take back Khazad Dum. They may eventually have kids that could become new characters.

Deor become the wise Wizard of Rohan a key adviser to the King. He of course takes on apprentices, perhaps his own child among them.

Too soon for Hraedsig and Rorimac

I think that might be a good idea at this point. However, I am not yet sure what will be next.

Interesting stuff - thanks!

Here we go:

  1. I will update XP and finalize Items and gold and send out the character updates.
1a) please verify the character for missing items/changes

  2. Those fighters making sixth will need to choose their next weapon Proficiency.
2a) This is when fighters can take a specialization to +2/+2 and thus get 3 attacks every two rounds prepare for 7th (8th for Paladins and Rangers) when they get 3/2 for level. This is a major combat boost. Elven Archers would go from 3 shots to 4.5 shots per round. (Huge)

  3. We will play out the 3 months as reasonably fast as possible and decide to meet at Minas Tirith if that is OK?
3a) I think we have one contigent heading West to Bree (Shire, Old Forest and Northern Capital) (Gil-Gandel becomes a 1st level Bard!)(Elfstan is retiring)
3b) Another group staying in Rivendell/Goblin Gate and then heading south (Rohan & Aglarond)
3c) Ghân is headed for Radagast directly. (training and shapechanging)
3d) Deor might be heading south immediately with a large group of Dwarves and we have to resolve some new spells for him.

Did I miss any and where do each of you go?

Ghân is delighted to visit Radagast (and is going to offer Brownie the Owl a home there, as the party - and thus future opponents - are becoming tough).

My preference would be for only Gilraen as an NPC to accompany us. I think we are ready to make our own decisions and fight our own battles!

In other news, Sauron is still dead. :stuck_out_tongue: The only question is whether I wear this body for the crossing or my fea gets issued with a new one on arrival as a matter of necessity. But I may linger long enough to entertain Mulligan’s grieving great-great-grandchildren with some stories of their venerated ancestor. Sadly I am about three ages of the world too late to found a dynasty of my own. :dubious:

Sounds good to me. I am happy to stay in Goblin Gate, and I wasn’t kidding about bringing some younger dwarf under my wing and acting as a mentor while I am there for the next few months. I think it fits with Gwaelur’s daddy issues that he would want to help someone younger and less experienced than him reach their full potential. Sort of be a mentor to one of the young guys at Goblin Gate the way Bitur was a mentor to him way back when.

Oh, I don’t know. I seem to recall there were still some toothsome Elf-maidens in Rivendell who might be wooable.

For the short term, Thoroncir will go where Gilraen goes, as we discussed earlier.

I said “found a dynasty”. A dalliance or two might not be out of the question, but the Hither Shore ain’t the place to raise a kid when I’m only going to be here five minutes. :stuck_out_tongue:

That is the problem with Elves, before you’re done you good end up ruling a small Elven Kingdom or you could quietly go over the sea. But as to the fair sex, there are many single females Elves still about.

You confused me first, but I see you mean me playing Rorimac. We either need to get a Ranger player, someone else to take over Rorimac or perhaps someone that is fairly active in the game could run Rorimac with their character. On the other hand Rorimac is probably the weakest member of the party, and would only help nudge things as an NPC, never lead. In most ways, being the youngest son of Meriadoc is fairly unimportant.

Excellent idea and we’ll play it out. Is Afi find for the choice? He is an armourer journeyman.

Correct on the first part and far more in Greenwood to the North.

Thoroncir was headed for the Northern Capital and then south correct?

Afi works for me.

Yes, after a quick visit to Bree and/or the Shire. There’s a pint at the Prancing Pony with his name on it.

Upon consideration, Hraedsig will stay in Goblin Gate as well, as there seems to be the most chance for killing some evildoers in the remaining clean-up.

Sounds good to me.

I don’t mind running Rorimac as a side character and giving him a few directions here and there.

So aside from finding someone who can keep up with her, I wonder if Mulligan can set up a Thieves type guild for treasure finders in Minas Tirith. If I can get a royal warrant I’m set.

The military city police by Paladins and near Paladins.

That should work well.

Who said anything about theivery within the city walls. I said treasure finders.

We trust you. But are you willing to vouch for all of your guildmates? :dubious:

Bitur will stick around with Gwaelur and the other Dwarves, aiding in any way he is needed.
