D & D on the Straight Dope setup thread. (In Middle Earth FA63)

I am fine with Rory as an NPC or held for the next player or the return of Rory.

BTW: I should have said this earlier. I really think Hoopy Frood and ShadowFacts did a great job in joining an existing party and integrating into it seamlessly. I really think everyone of the players are doing a great job.

Please note the trip to Bree in the Game thread, it is set up for Malacandra. I do the rest tomorrow is possible. I am down to Ghân on the updates. This was a tough one, Gil-Gandel’s switch to bard in particular.

I think I have everyone done, I will parse out the characters and send them out that way in Word. We can play out the downtime. In the game thread.

Excellent - many thanks!

They are heading out, please verify if anything is amiss or missing and let me know. Update however you like you own sheets.

Ghân and Thoroncir so far are sent the rest should be out in the next 30 minutes.

Night all.

I have no problems running both hobbits until Love Rhombus returns or while we find someone else to play Rorimac.

I’ve got the updated Ghân - just right - good job, that man!
(He was the only one I got - was the idea to send them all out together?)

(I did mention in the main thread that Ghân would like a bigger bird as an Animal Friend , perhaps a Giant Eagle?)

I’m happy if CatInASuit wants to play both hobbits.
(I can do it if needed.)

If no player objects, I am still willing to send out my master. Sometimes players like to keep parts of there characters secret.

I took the extra time and sent them out separate yesterday as it was not fair to send out a single file without consent of all.

CIAS, I’ll send a copy of Rorimac to you soon.

Giant Eagle is out for obvious reasons. (They are a free people and not truly animals.) Think on the Bird a bit more and Radagast can probably help you.

Great - thanks! Some are bicoastal, or bilingual, or bisexual; you can be bihobbital.

I fed a lot of set up out for the players in the game thread. Please run with it or post here on things you want to see your characters do in the downtime. I think I have the entire party covered now, at least to start.

Thanks Jim. Give me a few hours to play with some ideas and I will try to put together a decent sized post for Gwaelur.

:o (I was flicking through my D+D Monster Manual, without remembering Middle Earth…)

How about a Golden Eagle or an Eagle Owl?

The Golden Eagle has the advantage of being able to keep up with you. The Eagle Owl is quite a bit slower but of course is a very good night flier. Both are excellent hunters or can live on goodberries. Choose the one and how many HD do you have free?

I can’t do justice to Malacandra’s post until a bit later. I need a proper reply, I started some of it in prep.

I’d slightly prefer the Golden Eagle.
Assuming Fang counts as 4HD and Anca as 5HD, Ghân has 5HD ‘spare’.

I think Malacandra’s song should be treated like Simon Cowell treated Adam Lambert singing ‘Mad World’ on American Idol - no words, just a standing ovation.

Yes but I have to post the initial meeting of Tom and his Lady Fair. (Besides, I don’t watch idol and only know Simon and not Adam.)

5HD should be fine, I had something in mind and 4HD will cover it. It will be a very large Golden Eagle that is ¼ Great Eagle. He will be part of your training and will to become your companion. At 40 lbs he can share a horse with you and a Goodberry will feed him well when he does not hunt. (Remember Animal Growth will work wonders with him.)

Does this sound good? I’ll get you the rest of the details if so.

A Golden Eagle would be very cool. I’m a big Bald Eagle fan myself, but of course they wouldn’t have made their way as far east as Gondor and Arnor.

An interesting article I just came across on online currency: 'Virtual currencies' power social networks, online games - CNN.com

Ok, picked up Rorimac and had a look, should be fine to handle. It’s been a while since I have played more than one character.

If there are any other background notes from **Love Rhombus **on him, please forward them on.

I was under the strong impression the Bald Eagle was North America only. Thus the Golden for Middle Earth and of course the large white Eagles that are the descendant of Manwë’s servants. They are roughly the same size but I believe the Goldens are actually swifter and of course both can stay in the air for a long time. (Though the Albatross tops all as I recall.)

Just read Malacandra’s song to Bombadil. Wow! Great job!

:: standing ovation ::

Nothing else really, he is Merry’s son and thus brave but cautious at the same time. He is driven more by wanderlust than pride or trying to prove himself. He wants to see the world.

Indeed. He is making me work at the introduction.

Yes but I have to post the initial meeting of Tom and his Lady Fair. (Besides, I don’t watch idol and only know Simon and not Adam.)

Here’s Adam singing (admittedly a studio version, but the live one was electric), with a still picture of Simon giving him a standing ovation.

That’s great - send when convenient.
