Da Hitchin' MMP

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone!

The reason that I’m online right now is because I’m supposed to be doing something else! Also because what I really wanted to do was take a nap but I don’t have enough time for that before I go to school. It’s snowy and cold and we’re supposed to lead a group discussion which I’m really not looking forward to so I’d just rather stay home. All quizzes are pop quizzes in ASL, though, so I can’t afford to miss!

Almost forgot to say that Noni juice is THE MOST DISGUSTING THING I HAVE EVER TASTED. If you ever get the chance to taste it, don’t.

Also, feel better, Tugig!

Ok, guess I’ll attempt to get back to work.

Aren’t they those pots you clear your nasal passages with? Yeah, I don’t imagine those would come across as overly refreshing.

Honestly, I think that would probably taste better. However, what I’m referring to, smartypants, is Noni Juice. My dad’s girlfriend used to own a herbal or health food store or something and they suggested that I try it to help to reduce the swelling in my knee. I am taking it only because they were nice enough to buy it for me but honest to God it is gross.

Wow. and those things can’t just be glued back together.

lol, neti pots are used to clear sinuses with saline irrigation. Noni juice WILL CURE EVERY ILL KNOWN TO MANKIND!!1!

Or so the noni juice people like to claim on any health issue board you might stumble across. :dubious::rolleyes:

I ran across the noni juice folks on the Lupus Foundation of America boards. Yep, noni juice will cure lupus.

I hate snake oil cures foisted on sick people.

scones I hope your knee feels better soon. I alternate hot and cold compresses when my knee is kicking up.

Well, that’s fair, since 15 years ago, they claimed aspertame caused lupus.

And my head exploded then as well.

However Oprah has the big winning ribbon for tagging so many diseases, especially the “invisible” autoimmune diseases as caused by emotional trauma, and backing the claim that once one resolves their emotional trauma, their diseases will be healed.

grrr . . . :mad::mad::mad:

Did my crankiness kill the MMP?

:frowning:
HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!!!

You guys are my Valentines.

No, hon, you didn’t kill it. I’ve spent the day up to my ass in alligators…

Obligatory [House] IT’S NOT LUPUS!!! [/House]

Went to the gym and found myself to be suffering from a massive case of short attention span.

5 minutes on the rower
5 minutes on the bike
5 minutes on the elliptical
abs
8 minutes slow walking on the treadmill (but 2 minutes at the highest incline just for shits and giggles.)
I determined that sometimes I just don’t wanna do a machine. So, to really torture myself, I signed up for a group class tonight. I saw one last night and determined that Christ the trainer is the reincarnation of de Sade. But, the 5 person class is free for me this month and it will give me a chance to learn to use the other exercise stuff too.
I’m gonna hurt tomorrow.

Alligators on my ass would be a welcome change BBBobbio. I may have terminal bad attitude.

sigh

Here, I am arranging my face so it looks as though I am not hating the world.

I thought aspertame caused brain cancer? No wait, it just causes headaches. In me. SUGAR FOREVER!

Really? My ITP caused my depression? If I resolved my depression my ITP would clear up? Oh wait, it’s already been in remission for 12.5 years and I’m still working on the depression. Which was probably caused/exacerbated by the prednisone I had to be on when I was first diagnosed. The causation/correlation link: it has failed to load. Please check your rationality server.

Happy Valentine’s Day Mumpers!

Can I just go back to full disability leave? Getting back to work has been awful. At the end of Day Two, I finally have working mainframe access, but other stuff is still giving me the cold shoulder and I can’t get any actual work to work on.

The ironic thing is that my job is to give (and take away) access. I just don’t have a way to override the automated stuff.

So, gotti you who gives and takes away access have no access to give and take away access. Once you have access again to give and take away access, can you take away access to who or what took away your access to give and take away access? That was fun to type!

Day two of new irk survived. Staff meetin’ was umm innerestin’. I heard many creative excuses about why stuff was not done which all boiled down to cause there was no one there to prod and make us do it. Thus da bear begins to establish goals and timelines plus explain actions to be taken per policy for missin’s aid established goals and timelines. I foresee much whinin’ in my near future at irk. Mayhaps I should take a trip to Sam’s Club to purchase a case or two of headache medicine.

Once I get through all this I think I shall like new irk just fine however.

Now I shall prepare dindin. Grilled chikin boobs, wild rice, steamed broccoli and carrots and rolls. Plus there’s cake! YAY cake!

OYKW and I do not do Valentine’s Day. Tomorrow we shall celebrate National Cheap Chawlkit Day instead. Much more fun.

Good afternoon, my sweeties!! And Happy :heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart::heart: to all!!

**FCD **and I had a really nice day. We got to sleep in a bit, then headed to Denny’s for breakfast (not a huge thrill, but still edible) before driving to Baltimore. As we were walking into the surgeon’s office, my BIL was walking out, having had a consult for his neck. He and **FCD **compared notes about their various back surgeries, then BIL headed out for a second consult and we got all signed in and stuff.

As is usual with this Dr, we had a long wait, but we also had a nice chat with his PA. Then Dr. Bob came in with an associate who works with him in surgery - and who looked about 14 years old!! When did medical boards start giving full licenses to children??? Anyway, we had a nice chat/visit with the doctor - his daughter is getting married in Sept, so he’s trying to figure out what other surgeries **FCD **will need!

He did say my sweetie’s recovery was really great and he doesn’t have to go back till December. So huzzah for a successful operation!

When we finished there, we drove to Glen Burnie (or, as the locals call it Glen Burnout) to check out a fish supply place. It was a huge store with lots of fish I’d never seen before. We took a break and got some lunch, then went back. FCD stopped in the Hair Cuttery next to the fish store and got his coif trimmed, then we went back in and bought a fish, a coral, and a big box of salt. Good times!!! On the way home, we stopped for a Frosty, and we got back about half an hour ago.

So now we’re home. Kittehs have gotten gushy food, the new sealife is being acclimated, and I’m chilling, because sitting in a car all day is so draining. Oh, and good news yesterday - OPM has, in fact, finished with my case file and starting next month, I’ll be getting my correct pension amount. They sent me a booklet with my specific info in it, including how they did the calculations, what my withholdings are, and assorted other good stuff that I need to know. What a relief!

It’s a good day!

Hey, I’ve got a leather whip that I bought eons ago as a joke - I can lend it to you. I used to carry it in the office when the boss left me in charge. He didn’t do that too often.

Hello and Happy Valentine’s Day. And congratulations, Pearl, on your wedding!! I don’t have any wedding stories, never been married and have only been in one wedding - was a jr. bridesmaid at age 11 in the wedding of my mother’s youngest brother and his wife (they’re 8 years older than me).

Good deal with OPM (finally!), FCM - that little booklet is a trip though.

OK, I’m about to burst … got a strange I guess it’s Valentine’s related story going on in RL - with my 82 year old father. He lives in a retirement community. Somehow, through a friend who is also in the retirement community, he met and has become involved with a 33 yr old guy from a European country (just 3 years older than my daughter, btw …). Apparently, he is stars-in-the-eyes, head-over-heels in LOVE. The guy is visiting with him now, arrived from Europe on Sunday. His previous partner, who he broke up with about 6 years ago, was 2 years younger than me, so now he’s gone even younger. I don’t know, I understand him wanting to have someone to love and be loved by, but honestly, this situation has DANGER Will Robinson written all over it. sigh There’s not much any of the kids can do, though, except pray that God will guide him in whatever he does. My dad came pretty close to passing away in the fall of 2010, and has now been diagnosed with COPD - it may be that he thinks this is his last chance at love. I don’t know. At any rate, keep my Dad in your prayers.

In other news, I’m getting cataract surgery on my other eye, finally!! That will be March 22. I visited the eye doctor this morning - and my eyes are still blurry from being dilated, etc. I so am looking forward to having depth perception and peripheral vision again!!

Again, a happy Valentine’s day to all.

Happy birthday to Mr. Lissar, too.

I’m home for a short while, and then back to the hospital. The girls are supposed to come home tomorrow.

Tired but happy.

Well, golly, tarra, gotta say your Dad sure isn’t boring. Hope his new love is sincerely interested in him. But, yeah, that’s quite an age difference they’ve got going there.

Happy birthday to Mr. Lissar and happy Valentine’s Day to everyone. I’ll come back with some Valentine-related links later. And yay for babies coming home soon!

Glad the post-op visit went so well, FCM.

Hope all of your access gets straightened out soon, gotti.

I was going to suggest reducing your courseload, shortdrum. Just make sure you have enough to keep any financial aid. Sounds like you had a pretty bad combination of classes going there. Make sure you’re talking to all your profs about the adjustment issues you’re having. Not all of them will be helpful, but someone should be able to give you some coping tips.

Tired after long irkday.

Hugs all.
