I also like the idea of Irving/Las Colinas. Mainly because that’s where I live Lots of good places in the area, and several have rooms that we could reserve or areas off to the side where we could have large groups. Occasionally we’ll have office parties at various resturants, so I’ve got a few suggestions if we want to go that route.
If we want to do a house-party kind of thing with pot-luck, I may be able to offer a venue(subject to wifely approval, but I think we’d be fine). I’ve got a fairly good-size place(4 bedroom, 3 bath, office, dining room, kitchen with plenty of counter space and a double oven for re-heating other people’s dishes, playroom for the kids and a large patio if the weather is nice. Last tenants messed it up and we’re still in the recovery stages, so it’s not the most beautiful place, but it’s very servicable and comfy) in a nice neighborhood on the North Irving/Las Colinas border. Heck it would give us an excuse to get the last few boxes unpacked and the guest bathroom/bedroom set up. We haven’t entertained since we moved, beyond a birthday party that was mostly family, but it works pretty well.
