Dancing with the Stars, Season 7 (Fall 2008)

i thought cloris actually did a little better last night. at least a little better job of keeping her mouth shut. i actually was feeling embarrassed for her due to her yammering.

I don’t think anyone is giving Susan Luccie enough credit for the fact that the woman is almost 62. She looks and dances as if she’s 40-45. Incredible!

Her “not bad for an old broad” thunder has been completely stolen by Cloris. In that company, she’s not an old broad, particularly.

Bet she’s pissed about it.

I’d be in her shoes. Lucci. Not Luccie. Lucci.

ETA: On the other hand, maybe she takes it that no one realizes she’s as old as she is. The only reason I knew it is because I figured she had to be, because she’d been around since dinosaurs walked the earth, so I looked her up on Wiki.

What, Oy!, no dance of joy (sic) that Kim Kardashian is gone?

I forgot to watch who got eliminated. I was watching Rachel Maddow. :frowning:
YEA!!!

Is this the first time someone has had an injury so bad they’ve had to leave the show? I have the vague recollection that it isn’t … Sarah Evans left because of the divorce …

I think it is. It’s sad. Misty’s an attractive person and a good dancer. She could really have gone far. I really hope they bring her back for another season.

As for the rest, Susan did look tentative, but it’s understandable given her ankle. Cloris was just unspeakably weird and Warren Sapp is still surprisingly good. Who’d have thought a 300 pound guy who ate quarterbacks for lunch and wide receivers for snacks could move so well and be so romantic? I like him!

Yeah, I agree, she definitely deserves a second chance.

Poor Maks – he finally got the partner of his dreams and she blows out her achilles tendon …

I’m dating myself, but does anyone else remember Madonna at the VMAs? Perhaps I would have liked it better had Alec been in ridiculously tiny shorts.

That next to final image of Cloris & Corky was disturbing.

I liked Warren Sapp & Brooke Burke.

Are you kidding? That whole routine was disturbing. Her entire season has been disturbing.

I split my votes between Warren and Burke, with one for Susan Lucci.

Warren was great, and Kym is adorable (and a really great teacher/dancer), so they’re my favorites for sure. I may even vote one of these days!

Brooke still strikes me as fundamentally uninteresting when she speaks, but that was a great dance.

The rest of the night was one WTF after another. The “still to come, Misty’s destruction!” nonsense got old quick, especially Samantha asking someone (I think it was Rocco) what it was like being there when Misty hurt herself. What the hell is he going to say? “It was just like 9/11…”

Cloris and Corky’s “stinky butt” dance was an affront to all of my senses. Although my ears were already wrecked from the band’s butchering of the Beethoven song during Alec and Toni’s number. Was the guitarist playing it with his feet? And let’s just forget all about “What’s New Pussycat?”

I hope they kick someone off this week, but I bet they won’t because Misty left. Which is unfortunate, because some of the fodder needs to go. Even with fast forwarding, this show takes up way too much of my Monday night.

Man, Kerri Walsh has got to be pissed off about that.

Good point – they weren’t talking up the usual “only you can save your favorites from total destruction!” element in the reminders and phone numbers stuff.

BTW – next week they go to 90 minutes on Monday, so the throng is getting pared down.

The next four I’d like to see go, in order:

Cloris
Rocco
That annoying child, Cody or whatever?
Susan

Well, okay, no elimination – and Rocco is on the chopping block. (Heh. “Chopping block.” He’s a cook. Heh.)

Any guesses as to how long the “she can’t dance but we dig the schtick” vote will keep Cloris around?

About 2 weeks too long already.

Damn the geezer demographic!

Piece on Plan B in this season of injuries.

Master P’s longevity was equally puzzling, with a quite different demographic. I think there’s a high proportion of DWTS fans who would’ve gone to circus sideshows in an earlier time.

I’d love to see Plan B actually happen (not wishing serious injury on anyone, of course…)

Master P was worse. He never gave any indication of wanting to be there and always acted like the whole thing was a bother and an intrusion on his personal time. (Never rehearsed, never tried).

Cloris, like some other stars before her (Sara Evans & Billy Ray Cyrus come straight to mind), merely can’t dance. I never want to see Corky do whatever he was doing at the end of that dance again. Ever. But, Cloris seems to be attempting to dance.

Oy! is on self-imposed hiatus from the Boards while she moves – she daren’t even come by to read a bit.

This, of course, doesn’t mean she has nothing to say for herself these days. With her permission, I’d like to quote an email I got from her this morning:

As I told her, I missed half the show last night (I’ve got a temp/part-time gig these days that involves going Into The Office on Sunday and Monday, and things ran long last night – do they sell VHS tapes anymore? I should look into that).

Can’t comment on what Cloris or Susan did last night – I did like Lance’s tango (though not his eyeliner) – and Warren isn’t half as smooth as our beloved Emmitt was, so I don’t find his “yum” factor quite as high.
